Yes great vid, thanks and also someone actually using floats, nearly every vid I've looked at are basically scaled down carp gear and marker floats even using carp rods bite alarm boilies , and they say you need strong gear in case you hook a decent carp . Tench have always been float approach . Ok you can ledger for them I have done loads of times but using light Avon rods light weights because it wasn't an easy water and using two rods was better than one float rod. When playing tench on these Avons it's great . Thanks again for good vid good advice.
so I havent changed my tactics too much (using similar tackle as in the video), but for the last few weeks i've been struggling catching tench and crucians where before I would catch several every day. I have tried fishing at all kinds of depths but anytime I move more than a foot away from the bottom i get pestered by roach and still wont catch tench. Any advice?
Hi Jamie, I still like to backwind especially when I'm fishing with lighter lines. In the past reel drags where not as smooth and reliable as they are now. So I grew up backwinding and it's a difficult habit to get out off!
2.5lb maxima mainline, 1.1 bayer hook length about 14-16 inch long on 20's barbless hooks gets that size tench nice..as long as you dont mind pushing a carbon match rod lol.
Where exactly is the lake, i'm having trouble finding it? It might just be me. Tried looking online ect, worst thing is i'm not far from Carlton towers :P
Hi, we get asked this probably more than anything else!!! It's actually a prototype which James once got made made but never went into production. Thus it is not available to buy. Cheers.
Only a few weeks to new season! I love tench! Not had a lot of luck with them, maybe one for next year.
Nothing like catching a nice tench on a balanced rod and reel/float setup superb!.

Still fish on the bottom but fish by margins, overhanging trees overhanging bushes, dead reeds, lily pads so features like that.
Is it a good idea to have back wind off?
I have a school competition coming up and I was wondering if it would be easier.

Thanks! Would be great if you guys bring out something similar in the future. Your team seat boxes were awesome!

The thin end of a maggot is it's head.
Rods old skool come on 😳🎣 sitting with a 3 grand pole ain't fishing 👍
With that rig you only get fish on lakes and commercials where you can even get fish with your hands .
