    Hi guys, great video, I am a Big Sur local and I just wanted to say to everyone planning to take this trip to please please please remember that there are absolutely no fires allowed on these back roads. so many wildfires have been started by tourists doing this exact same thing and I have personally almost lost my home several times. Have fun, but please remember that people live here!

    I was born in Santa Cruz and thank you for showing us sites. I was too poor to own a vehicle (being disabled) for about 10 years. Now I have one I want to see stuff. Some guy on one of these type of videos showed a beach called Shark fin beach I had never seen or heard about in my 50 years so I want to say thanks for showing how to do stuff for those of us not privileged enough to have been doing this forever. That said my friends who live up near "last chance" tell me not of cows but Pattie was on a dirt road and Mr. Man the Mountain Lion wanted to cross infront of her and this dude was so casual he took his sweet time and he was so big he filled most of the tiny dirt path. He knows he's a king and a boss. Panther beach is another place up 1 and my friend Buck found a panther or Mountain lion jaw!!! I never knew they were so badass they would eat the left overs from the sharks. On the beach like seals or parts of elephant seals. As a woman going alone what advice can you give me for safety from the male humans. I only have paper spray and phones don't work out there.

    • @GetLostwithBrooks
      @GetLostwithBrooks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! The Subaru was a sedan, and it totally made it. Road conditions are pretty good right now. However, be sure to check all conditions before you visit - roads actually just got closed by the Forest Service, so Prewitt is inaccessible. And the fires are currently ripping across California. Check the status of Dolan Fire before you head to Big Sur for any reason.

    There BigSur. Ya'll might think about moving some creeks down through the Valley and plan a restoration erosion to sea. Its beautiful. Needs planned natural restoring these valley creeks going downhill and nightime crop kind with headlamps to take up some human energy budget losses. And dolars heard cylinders for freezes. Instead of fuel cylinders heat. Power some batteries in the back of long hauling trucks and plug em into in the heaters. Waterwheel sometimes.

    • @GetLostwithBrooks

      Hey dude, I did put one on there. I haven’t noticed any effect from the heat, and I attribute that to how I affixed the panel to the heat. Awesome video!! My now married last name is Prewitt so I was stoked about the idea of bringing my husband to Prewitt Ridge, I Google mapped it and it looks like every road to get there has been closed. Any reason?? I’d love to take him here for our anniversary in June if the road is open or you know what’s going on? Thank you! ☺️

    Hey Bud! Amazing video and keep your energy. Do you think you need a four wheel drive? How about a Honda Accord?

      It all depends on the quality of the road. I’ve seen it when you really couldn’t take an Accord, and other times it seemed passable.

    Great video. Doesn’t look like I’ll have issues getting my Four Wheel Truck Camper up there. Should I worry about any state rangers running me off from the campsite?

      Thanks! I think your camper could make it just fine. I just checked the Monterey Ranger District website, and all the dirt roads along the coast, as well as Nacimiento Rd are closed. If you go before the rangers open them, you risk a hefty fine.
      I recommend another site called “The Indians” which I believe is still open. Take Del Venturi Rd northwest of Fort Hunter Ligget over 2 shallow water crossings until you reach the sign for Los Padres National Forest. Plenty of dispersed camping and fascinating geography there. No 4WD necessary.

    I love the view! I'm about to make a road trip and I'm definitely visiting that place. I have a regular suv which is not 4x4 though, do you think I can make it? Because if I risk it I'm pretty sure it's not easy getting help up there

      Your vehicle can for sure make it. But I think the Forest Service closed this area. Check their website or give em a call to be sure.
      Another spot i think is open is farther inland near Fort Hunter Ligget called “The Indians.” Lots of primitive campsites here and nearby 36°05'02.3"N 121°24'27.7"W

      Hey Riku, looks like the roads you’d need to take to get there are closed. www.fs.usda.gov/detail/lpnf/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5347980

    Seems like a lot of this, including the Prewitt campground are closed.
