Isn't that a sick feeling?! Almost as bad as, "Babe! Where is my wallet?!" .... or my phone? Good video! Bucket list trip for us too. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks for the ride along.

Buddy let me tell ya!! Had it been an old pair , no worries....but those...nope we can't leave them behind. Definitely make this trip happen for yourself. You won't regret it. At the end of the series I intend to go over the planning, e-APIS, US and Bahamian Customs, IFR vs. VFR International crossings, etc. Welcome aboard Bo and I appreciate the comment! Beautiful Bonanza you have by the way!

Par 4 C!!! Long time buddy! It was a great trip and since we flew/stayed out in the Exumas; all was quiet for the current climate of the world.

@@Parr4theCourse I have not kept up with the changes since we did this trip. But I would not be surprised. If you're ever down my way in TX stop in and say hi.

I did not know a 182 has retractable landing gear. Is that a good thing for most aircraft about that size? I assume it makes it more streamlined. Oh and that you have autopilot is amazing. My son recently purchased a Cessna 172 so I am interested in what the 182 has. He is located at Albert Whitted airport in St. Petersburg, FL. He is a flight instructor among other things. My son has flown me to Cedar Key where we had an early dinner then flew back to Albert Whitted in the evening. What a great trip.

That's wonderful! Cedar Key is a bucket list trip for us and we have flown over it three times now unable to pop in because we are on the move. Thank you for sharing that story about your son flying you to dinner there. Very special; we hear the food and island experience is amazing! To answer your questions, retract vs. straight leg (fixed gear)......is going to come down to owners choice. Yes it does make it more streamlined per se since we are reducing drag by retracting the gear. Our 182 is a 1982 T(urbo)R(etract) 182 Skylane II. The R and TR line-up were manufactured between 1978 - 1986. Unfortunately, Cessna does not build a single engine retract anymore. Since ours is the turbocharged model we do see about a 15% increase in climb and cruise speed. The down side is the retract can require more maintenance. The system uses hydraulic actuators with an electric driven pump. That said....just more maintenance vs. fixed gear. Cessna also made a 172 RG as well back in the yester-years. We fly with an S-tec 55X auto-pilot. It makes flying single pilot IFR a breeze. Thanks for the question(s)/comment. Hope I answered them for you. You gave me an idea for a new video later this year or into next year. Cheers!

The sound of the engine is so much louder than your radio transmissions. It is difficult to hear what you are saying.

Thank you for the comment Gary! Thank you for subscribing. I'll work on adjusting those sound gains in the next videos to come. Appreciate the critique.
