  • Here are my TOP 3 Reasons to BUY This ROOMBA! I bought the Roomba i7 with Base during a Cyber Monday sale. I have been using it for the past month and it has been great. The smart mapping and voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant is so nice. Just call up the Roomba to come vacuum a room. The Roomba i7 neat rows cleaning is very precise. This Roomba was voted best robot vacuum for 2020.

    Love my roomba. Got one over 4 years ago when I moved into a home with hardwood floors. It was a game changer (with two dogs that constantly shed). Still works great to this day. Been considering upgrading to a newer one with the bin and more features. You may have convinced me that it's about time. Great video!

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much Shane. I appreciate you saying that. That is great to hear yours is working that well for you 4 years later. If you get this model, you can pair it with the Braava mop and the two will tag team a room. It Vacuums and the mop follows behind. That is awesome. This stuff is so cool. Thanks for checking out the video.

    I have the same model of Roomba and love it. It does an amazing job cleaning and the base is a great addition. The base was the main reason i went with this model. I have two dogs as well. One runs and hides from it. The other dog, our Frenchie, follows it and barks at it the whole time it is out. Over the weeks we have worked with him to get more comfortable with the Roomba and now he will mostly ignore it, but still he feels the need to run over to it once or twice, get real close and bark at just to let it know who is the boss of the house. Anyone who owns a Frenchie will know that they are always the boss of the house ... LOL. By the Way, Love your channel Craig.

    Great video! I have been using roomba for a few years now. I started with the 690 model which didn't have any mapping whatsoever and then early this year I invested in the i7 as well. I decided to not go with the bin emptying base because I only seem to have to empty the bin every week or so. I really really love the virtual no-go zones. One thing though is when I had first started using roomba I would start it and stop it frequently using alexa but it didn't interact the way I would like. For example I would tell it to tell roomba to stop cleaning and then the roomba would stop but then alexa would say she couldn't communicate with it. I use the app more frequently than using my alexa but I might start doing that again since you mentioned how convenient it is. I wonder if it will get confusing since I use the old roomba to clean upstairs so I have two robots connected on my app, I'm curious to find out now.

    Great job as always of the review on the Roomba - I purchased the i7 with the tower about 5 months ago and I couldn't agree with you more... Your review was spot on. The feature of having Alexa send out the Roomba to a select room is one of the reason I purchased this vacuum. Like you I love the Roomba i7 with the tower. The only issues I have is having my Roomba pick up popcorn kernels on the floor...drives me crazy. I certain I will get over it...or at least find a way to trick the vacuum to pick up the kernels. I'll keep you posted on my success....

    I have the same thing and loves it. I have it on schedule and Integrated with IFTT to turn on some lights when it starts vacuuming at night. I believe it runs with camera and needed light to vacuum properly. It is that quiet. Then turns off the lights after its done. Also, a good helper when I am cooking and I can just ask Alexa to vacuum the kitchen while I am cleaning the counters.

    • @CraigsTechTalk

      That is awesome. I like the idea of turning on the lights at the same time it starts vacuuming. That is very cool. From what I understand it needs the lights. I’m gonna have to do something like that. That is great. The being able to call it into the kitchen after you’re done is great. I’m glad I went with this model. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the routine triggering idea.

    Glad you are enjoying your I7. I have the Roborock S5 and also I believe the E3 which I use upstairs. I have had mine for 2 years and am still shocked at times at how much dirt and cat hair it picks up every day. I don't mind the fact it does not self empty I just empty it once a day in the morning its part of my routine now. My cats actually like the robot more than the regular vacuum they don't run in fear from it they just watch it and I like it doesn't stress them out as the regular one does.

    Great timing for this video. I just bought a i7+ last week. Have a shedding lab and it has been noticeably cleaner throughout my house. I used my Dyson Animal Sunday and there was noticeably less dirt/hair in the canister than what it was before I got the Roomba. My Roomba schedule is Mon, Wed and Friday. I also get the same "roomba is not responding" and it starts anyways. Had a few small issues. My schedule disappeared on my app this morning and then I got the Red ring 3/4 way through the job . It didn't return to the base to recharge

    I have a question for you Craig, if you were to pick up the Roomba while it's cleaning, or before you start it, and set it down somewhere else, does it know where it is, i.e. what room it's in. And if so, will it go back to the room you took it from? Say you picked it up in the kitchen and set it back down in the living room during a "kitchen" clean, will it head back to the kitchen to finish that initial "command"? What's the phrase I'm looking for...oh yeah, "spatial awareness" Thanks.

    • @ExclamationMarx
      @ExclamationMarx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CraigsTechTalk The following is a bit of an information dump about Roborocks so I do apologise but I encourage you to read it.
      Roborock navigation is far superior to Roomba navigation. There's no other way to put it. It works just as well in the dark as it does in the light & creates a map on its first run since it uses a laser-based system instead of a camera-based system. The only laser-navigation Roborock that doesn't support multiple-floor mapping is the original S5 but it's over three years old & doesn't represent what the company currently has to offer.
      Roborocks also have significantly bigger battery capacities than every Roomba (Including the $900 Roomba s9) & last for about two hours on medium power & up to about 3 hours on low power. Most Roborocks are also slightly quieter than Roombas (Depending on the model) & have far better navigation efficiency. Based on experience, it's roughly one minute of cleaning time for each square metre of area. (About 10 square feet). So you'll have to deal with less noise for less time.
      Roborocks also have built-in mops (Apart from the S4 series) whereas iRobot makes you pay for a separate mopping robot. The Roborock mops are simple attachments but buying an S5 Max or S6 MaxV will yield some good results considering that their main purpose is vacuuming.
      The main problem with Roborocks is that they don't yet have an auto-empty bin but Roborock has announced one that will be compatible with their (Currently unreleased) S7 model that they announced on their TH-cam channel for CES this year.
      However, there's currently a problem with carpets where the brush just stops spinning as soon as the Roborock gets on a carpeted surface. Roborock seems to be brushing it off at the moment (No pun intended) but I'm hoping they're working on the problem behind the scenes. It seems to be affecting every model except the S4 & S5 which have both been discontinued. As such, I would only recommend Roborocks for those with primarily hard floors until the issue is fixed.
      If you want to get your first Roborock, the S5 Max is a good one to start with. It has a higher battery capacity than the i7, an electronically controlled mop & four different airflow settings so that you can balance noise & battery consumption with performance on a whim. However you will be sacrificing an auto-empty bin if you use it as your main robot vacuum.
      However, the model you choose is ultimately up to you or even if you choose to buy one at all. That's just my recommendation

    • @ExclamationMarx
      @ExclamationMarx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      After the S7 releases, buying the Roomba s9 without the auto-empty system is going to be a giant waste of money unless you desperately need that deep carpet cleaning

    I loved my old, less smart Roomba to keep up on the cat hair and dust... until my cat had an accident that I wasn’t home to clean prior to Roomba’s schedule. Now that I find I have to manually trigger it, I don’t use it as much. Beware pet messes, or you will be deep cleaning waste and or vomit from the tiny rollers for hours. If they added some sort of next gen technology to recognize when it’s coming up on a liquid or large item, then I would upgrade to the one with the bin. if only my cats enjoyed riding it, then the gratuities from TH-cam videos would offset the cost...

      @@ReevansElectro No idea. I'm vouching for iRobot because I have used them twice in 5 years. Have you used RoboRock for spares and done repairs easily yourself with a screwdriver? If you have, you can vouch for them 😁

    $800 on Amazon? I think I’ll do my own vacuuming. Cool gadget though.

      That would be any tech video that says anything nice about a product. If you are implying that this is a paid or or sponsored video, you are out of line. This product has been purchased with my money and I disclose any sponsored videos..

    Roombas are wayyy to overpriced for what they can do. Expecially when you take into consideration that they still don't have an LDS.

    Worst purchase of my adult life. On the second day it could not dock to the base anymore. Waste of time and money.
