I have the same model of Roomba and love it. It does an amazing job cleaning and the base is a great addition. The base was the main reason i went with this model. I have two dogs as well. One runs and hides from it. The other dog, our Frenchie, follows it and barks at it the whole time it is out. Over the weeks we have worked with him to get more comfortable with the Roomba and now he will mostly ignore it, but still he feels the need to run over to it once or twice, get real close and bark at just to let it know who is the boss of the house. Anyone who owns a Frenchie will know that they are always the boss of the house ... LOL. By the Way, Love your channel Craig.
Love my roomba. Got one over 4 years ago when I moved into a home with hardwood floors. It was a game changer (with two dogs that constantly shed). Still works great to this day. Been considering upgrading to a newer one with the bin and more features. You may have convinced me that it's about time. Great video!
Thank you very much Shane. I appreciate you saying that. That is great to hear yours is working that well for you 4 years later. If you get this model, you can pair it with the Braava mop and the two will tag team a room. It Vacuums and the mop follows behind. That is awesome. This stuff is so cool. Thanks for checking out the video.
I have the same thing and loves it. I have it on schedule and Integrated with IFTT to turn on some lights when it starts vacuuming at night. I believe it runs with camera and needed light to vacuum properly. It is that quiet. Then turns off the lights after its done. Also, a good helper when I am cooking and I can just ask Alexa to vacuum the kitchen while I am cleaning the counters.
That is awesome. I like the idea of turning on the lights at the same time it starts vacuuming. That is very cool. From what I understand it needs the lights. I’m gonna have to do something like that. That is great. The being able to call it into the kitchen after you’re done is great. I’m glad I went with this model. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the routine triggering idea.
I agree the Roomba i7+is the best thing ever invented and i kick myself why I didn’t buy sooner. I paid $599 on Cyber Monday and I loved it so much I bought my daughter one for Xmas and she was over the moon and kept saying Mom best gift ever after she used it a month!
I got a Roborock vacuum and I really like it. And not nearly as expensive. Connects to Alexa. Mapping. Map editing. Scheduling. Pretty much every feature you would want other than automatic bin emptying.
Great job as always of the review on the Roomba - I purchased the i7 with the tower about 5 months ago and I couldn't agree with you more... Your review was spot on. The feature of having Alexa send out the Roomba to a select room is one of the reason I purchased this vacuum. Like you I love the Roomba i7 with the tower. The only issues I have is having my Roomba pick up popcorn kernels on the floor...drives me crazy. I certain I will get over it...or at least find a way to trick the vacuum to pick up the kernels. I'll keep you posted on my success....
Great timing for this video. I just bought a i7+ last week. Have a shedding lab and it has been noticeably cleaner throughout my house. I used my Dyson Animal Sunday and there was noticeably less dirt/hair in the canister than what it was before I got the Roomba. My Roomba schedule is Mon, Wed and Friday. I also get the same "roomba is not responding" and it starts anyways. Had a few small issues. My schedule disappeared on my app this morning and then I got the Red ring 3/4 way through the job . It didn't return to the base to recharge
Glad to hear that it has worked well for you except for those few issues. That is interesting I’ve not seen the red light yet. But our house isn’t that big so it does fine on a single charge. I think it has worked great for dog for for me too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your experience.
I have a question for you Craig, if you were to pick up the Roomba while it's cleaning, or before you start it, and set it down somewhere else, does it know where it is, i.e. what room it's in. And if so, will it go back to the room you took it from? Say you picked it up in the kitchen and set it back down in the living room during a "kitchen" clean, will it head back to the kitchen to finish that initial "command"? What's the phrase I'm looking for...oh yeah, "spatial awareness" Thanks.
Had a one for about 6 months absolutely brilliant, got one of the older version, set it to clean the flat every day when I go off to work, which I would never normally Vacuum daily , never had to use my Dyson again which is getting dusty now lol ,
That’s great to hear. People seem to love the Roomba is. It’s good to hear you love yours and it’s working well. I like the idea of the Dyson collecting dust. Thanks for watching.
Glad you are enjoying your I7. I have the Roborock S5 and also I believe the E3 which I use upstairs. I have had mine for 2 years and am still shocked at times at how much dirt and cat hair it picks up every day. I don't mind the fact it does not self empty I just empty it once a day in the morning its part of my routine now. My cats actually like the robot more than the regular vacuum they don't run in fear from it they just watch it and I like it doesn't stress them out as the regular one does.
Great video! I have been using roomba for a few years now. I started with the 690 model which didn't have any mapping whatsoever and then early this year I invested in the i7 as well. I decided to not go with the bin emptying base because I only seem to have to empty the bin every week or so. I really really love the virtual no-go zones. One thing though is when I had first started using roomba I would start it and stop it frequently using alexa but it didn't interact the way I would like. For example I would tell it to tell roomba to stop cleaning and then the roomba would stop but then alexa would say she couldn't communicate with it. I use the app more frequently than using my alexa but I might start doing that again since you mentioned how convenient it is. I wonder if it will get confusing since I use the old roomba to clean upstairs so I have two robots connected on my app, I'm curious to find out now.
I got a Roomba i3+ and it is great but if you want to the living room you have to bring it to the are and line it up and press clean and it will not go to the dock if you bing it to an are to go to the dock you have to press clean on the app or roomba. Overall it is great if you best vacuum your house all at the same time.

Can't justify the new cost. But under $40 thriftstore finds are OK if not nasty. My first robovac was an off brand. Too random to be worthwhile. Found a good condition 685 Roomba. I really like that iRobot still supports it and got the App. Recently found the i7 with auto empty. Its really scratched up but only needed the consumables replaced to work properly. A few weeks ago, I found a Braava M6 mopbot in like new condition. Just need to order cleaning solution and a dry pad to complete its mapping. I love the fact that iRobots App works with all three on the same app. I haven't fully implemented the i7 and M6 yet until I learn more about the camera system. I'm leary of too much internet hackable tech in the home. Off brands are very common in the thriftstores but I'll stay with the harder to find iRobots as I can make them like new again if I want at a reasonable cost.
That is great you were able to find the Braava and I7. Roomba has been a leader in the space for quite a while. They are a great one to stick with. Especially since Amazon is no longer buying them.
Hi, Craig ! Please, take a look at the Wyze Vacuum with LIDAR mapping technology, which is the latest. It has all what you mentioned on this video, for $199. It just doesn’t have the auto empty bin feature.
Already have it. I just need to unboxed it. Then I was going to park it next to the rumba and see how it does. The price is great on the Wyze vacuum To get all those map in features is great
This Roomba has you under it’s spell! Glad to see you have done your obligatory pet shot on your Roomba. I do like the mapping feature. I guess I should have waited a bit longer!
It does. I like cool tech and can appreciate how some really smart people figured out the mapping and feeling around with the sensor. Mapping is awesome. But this vacuum cost twice as much as yours. The one you have is a good price to performance. Thanks Larry, have a great day.

We had the old bumper type Roomba that we used for several years. Then we purchased the Rumba 960 which is a smart Rumba. We love it! We have a 1,400 sq. ft. house that Rumba automatically vacuums ever day. I only wish we had put out a few extra bucks and got the self cleaning and one that you can program to clean only specific rooms.
I loved my old, less smart Roomba to keep up on the cat hair and dust... until my cat had an accident that I wasn’t home to clean prior to Roomba’s schedule. Now that I find I have to manually trigger it, I don’t use it as much. Beware pet messes, or you will be deep cleaning waste and or vomit from the tiny rollers for hours. If they added some sort of next gen technology to recognize when it’s coming up on a liquid or large item, then I would upgrade to the one with the bin. if only my cats enjoyed riding it, then the gratuities from TH-cam videos would offset the cost...
I’m sorry for tempting you to get one. I do love mine and it is awesome though. If you do decide to get one I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for watching.
@@ReevansElectro No idea. I'm vouching for iRobot because I have used them twice in 5 years. Have you used RoboRock for spares and done repairs easily yourself with a screwdriver? If you have, you can vouch for them 😁
Went to the Roborock USA website and the parts link was a dead link. They all sell the consumables but all Roborock parts seem to be just aftermarket compatibles made and sold by others as well as being very limited in scope.
That would be any tech video that says anything nice about a product. If you are implying that this is a paid or or sponsored video, you are out of line. This product has been purchased with my money and I disclose any sponsored videos..

We have a 1,400 sq. ft. house that Rumba automatically vacuums ever day. I only wish we had put out a few extra bucks and got the self cleaning and one that you can program to clean only specific rooms.
The clean this room function needs a sister MAP this room to allow me to tell Roomba to explore THAT room for missing areas.
Now I want a roomba
They are awesome. Sorry for making you want one. I was excited to share this one. It is some cool tech. Thanks for watching.
These days iRobot was an innovator. Nowadays they live under the rock.
@3:35 wait did he just says it's called it's negro cleaning?
I instantly paused an ran to the comments 😳😂
yea so i guess i have to get one
That’s funny. Sorry to influence you. I do love mine though. It is awesome. Thank you for watching.
I’m sorry for tempting you to get one. I do love mine and it is awesome though. If you do decide to get one I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for watching.
"Vacuum Wars" channel says that the RoboRock S5 Max is better and is much less expensive. It works in the dark too.
The great thing with iRobot products is parts availability and the fact that you can replace most serviceable parts yourself with just a screwdriver.
@@richardb2343 And you think that RoboRock doesn't?
@@ReevansElectro No idea. I'm vouching for iRobot because I have used them twice in 5 years. Have you used RoboRock for spares and done repairs easily yourself with a screwdriver? If you have, you can vouch for them 😁
Went to the Roborock USA website and the parts link was a dead link. They all sell the consumables but all Roborock parts seem to be just aftermarket compatibles made and sold by others as well as being very limited in scope.
My Roomba is family
That’s awesome. I can see how that happens. Thanks for watching.
Good Promotion for iRobot 😏
That would be any tech video that says anything nice about a product. If you are implying that this is a paid or or sponsored video, you are out of line. This product has been purchased with my money and I disclose any sponsored videos..
If it’s not from IRobot, its not a roomba
My roomba gets lazy - I mean she'll spend a lot of time in some rooms and completely forgets about others - I've only her a couple of months and seems think she's getting away with something!!!
$800 on Amazon? I think I’ll do my own vacuuming. Cool gadget though.
They cost to much money shark cost way last
Worst purchase of my adult life. On the second day it could not dock to the base anymore. Waste of time and money.
)
One reason not to buy! It’s total crap!
Roombas are wayyy to overpriced for what they can do. Expecially when you take into consideration that they still don't have an LDS.
