I attend Saint Theodosius Orthodox Cathedral. Please pray for us and our priests as we recuperate from the fire that occurred last year. Unfortunately we had to remove the central dome because the damages to the roof put it under danger of collapsing, but a temporary roof has been installed to protect the interior from environmental damages. Bless the Lord for protecting our cathedral from severe water damage as thankfully the cathedral was largely untouched by water damage from the fire hoses. We are currently worshipping at our former coffee hour building and hope to return to the cathedral within the next two years. The new central dome will most likely be installed 6 years from now. Please pray for our parish and feel free to donate to the reconstruction effort!
Thank you for the report. I had not known about St. Theodosius until the fire. Was thinking about it even as the video started, and here was your comment and then it appeared on the screen as I typed.. Blessings to you from a convert and member of an OCA church in CA
My home parish in NE Pennsylvania (founded by St. Alexis Toth) went through a devastating fire many years ago. In our case, an electrical fire started below the candle room in the wee hours of the morning, and spread right up the dome. Water from fire hoses destroyed irreplaceable texts & sheet music, all printed in pre-Revolutionary Russia, which were in the choir loft above the candle room. In addition, beautiful frescoes covering the walls in the back of the church were completely destroyed. It was heartbreaking, so I have some idea what you folks are going through. Have been donating to the rebuild effort & praying for Fr. Jan, because I'm pretty sure they don't teach "Church Rebuilding 101" in seminary. It took a few years (many perohi & bake sales, quilt bingoes & raffles), & some frustrating meetings with architects, contractors & city officials, but our parish got a new church built and paid off the mortgage. You folks will, too. People who can survive Cleveland winters are nothing if not tough!
We were there for the first time in our lives 1 day short of 1 month before the fire. My mom lives in Ohio City and had never been to an Orthodox church before in her life, and we’ve moved from Ohio to Indiana (we’re members of St Nicholas, Ft Wayne), and invited her to meet us there. Welcoming people, beautiful church, beautiful singing. Very well-trained choir and cantor (Simon). Then my mom called me and said, “St. Theodosius is on fire,” and I was worried it was engulfed, then was so grateful it was not, but the fire kept burning and I was thinking, “What if the iconostasis is lost?” I couldn’t stand to watch the ongoing updates. Waited until the end to find out the damage and was so relieved it wasn’t extreme and that the church can be fixed. I posted a message to the firefighters thanking them, and my mom bought us some of the fundraiser shirts. I wear mine proudly. 😊❤️
St. Theodosius was a filming location for the movie The Deer Hunter. As you view the movie, you can see its magnificence, and get an idea of the goal of its restoration.
There is nothing on Earth like walking into an Orthodox Church alone. The walls tell the Story of Salvation! The Saints and Angels surround you! Your senses are heightned and your soul is moved to deep silence. The very air is luminous! The sinful world is left outside and you are standing in a place of Holiness. This is none other than the House of God, the threshold of Heaven! Thank You for posting these beautiful pictures!
St. Luke's Serbian Orthodox Church in Potomac, Md is going through a beautification project and they're nearly done in writing all the icons on the church walls.
Serbian Church in Milwaukee St Sava Serbian Church in Merillville Indiana St Michael Serbian Church in Lancing IL Need to put these up also This is an awesome video ! To me Orthodox Churches are inspired by God himself! I don’t care who you are and what religion you follow but when you walk into any of these Orthodox Churches you feel presence of God in them ! They appeal to all your senses ! I really feel that Orthodox religion is the true religion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I went to other churches over the years such as catholic or Presbyterian and Baptist! Never felt God in any of them sorry to say ! When you come to Orthodox Churches you come to God himself !
One of my favorites is St. George (Serbian) in San Diego. They actually have full mosaic iconography in the interior, plus a beautiful outside and a great location on a hill.
St Anthony's Antiochian Orthodox Church in San Diego, California has a beautiful interior design, you can't help but to look up! I highly recommend checking it out.
Great list! But we need Holy Trinity OCA Cathedrals in both Chicago and San Francisco to this list. Also, SS. Peter & Paul OCA Cathedral in Jersey City is incredible. Also St. Nicholas Russian Cathedral in NYC (MP.) All amazing. Plus various Alaskan churches like St. Innocent's St. Michael Cathedral in Sitka and the church on Unalaska.
The true beauty of the Eastern Orthodox Church lies not in its stunning architecture, intricate mosaics, or ornate icons, but in the hearts and lives of its faithful people. It is in the way they embody the teachings of Christ, in their love, compassion, and kindness towards one another. As St. John Chrysostom so eloquently put it, "The Church is not a temple, but a hospital for the soul." The real beauty of Orthodoxy is in its ability to transform and heal the human heart, to bring people closer to God and to one another. Thanks to the Orthodox Church's synodical system of decision-making is a testament to the importance of community and collaboration. Rather than relying on a single authority figure, the Church makes decisions through a collective process, involving bishops, clergy, and laity. This approach fosters a sense of unity, accountability, and shared responsibility. In the words of St. John Chrysostom, "The Church is a single body, and we are all members of it."
Holy Cross GOA parish in Belmont, California has a panoply of icons, the most memorable being mosaic. Their festal icon collection is exquisite. Thank you for sharing both St. Seraphim OCA Cathedral in Santa Rosa, CA and St. Xenia Antiochian Orthodox parish in Payson, Utah. Both very moving.
Hearkening back to the ancient wooden churches of Siberia, the extraordinarily beautiful new wooden chapel at St. Michaels Skete on Spruce Island, Alaska. Designed by architect Andrew Gould it is truly a heavenly temple crowning Saint Herman‘s beloved Holy Isle.
I'm not trying to be biased or anything but Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Bethlehem Pennsylvania is not only a beautiful Church but the two priests all of the people there it's like being in a wonderful really really big family is such a beautiful Greek Orthodox church that has two churches in it Saint Nicholas and saint nectarios but all of these wonderful churches are all beautiful
Thank you so much such a beautiful video. One thing to note is: The ROCOR parish in San Francisco is not called “The Joy of all who sorrow“. It’s called “Holy Virgin Cathedral.” That is where the relics of St. John of San Francisco are.
These are not bad, but our parish church of St. Xenia's in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is just as beautiful if not more so. We have a wonder-working icon of St. Xenia and also a beautiful mosaic above the front door done by our matuschka. She is now doing frescoes on the interior walls. God has blessed us greatly!
Monastery of Theotokos the Life-Spring in Dunlap, CA. Greek. They have no online presence. One huge church and two chapels and a refectory that has every inch painted. 35 nuns.
St Andrew Riverside, CA has one shot of St Andrew, Arlington, WA with Fr David Hovik...big white bearded priest in the center with alter servers on both sides. And St Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Jackson, CA will take your breath away when you walk in.
Now. How are we going to persuade our new President to attend next Lord's Day (a.k.a. sunday) Liturgy in St. Nicolas Cathedral, Washington DC, instead of going to fake churches, and been lectured about abnormal lust practices by fake bishops ? Are there any lobbies on that ? We need to develop a strategy to encourage the President to attend Sunday Liturgy at St. Nicolas Cathedral in Washington, D.C., rather than alternative services. Are there any effective lobbying groups we can engage to assist in this effort? How might we respectfully invite our new President to attend the Sunday Liturgy at St. Nicolas Cathedral in Washington, D.C., rather than services that may not align with traditional religious practices? Are there any organizations that could facilitate this?
I know very little about the Romanian Orthodox Churches in America, but here in Romania, there are many extremely beautiful ones. An example can be admired at Voroneț Monastery.

AWESOME INDEED
Glad to see several of my projects in there! Thanks for calling attention to beautiful things.
Very beautiful work Andrew!
St.Andrews can only be described as a blessing to the community. If Riverside had more houses of worship, & less of vice, what a city we could be.
They are all so beautiful, but I'm partial to mine church: St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church of Stockton, Calif.🥰
St Stephens Serbian Orthodox Church in Monterey Park, CA and Holy Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles are both very beautiful.
If I could suggest one edit, Holy Protection Monastery in Grayslake may be New Gracanica Serbian Monastery.

You said the same thing 3 times. I agree with you, though. I don't think there's any groups. We should pray for him.
surprised there are so many, and especially so many Monasteries.

Beautiful video. One small correction: St. Sava in Libertyville is a monastery, not a cathedral.
I came here to recommend my parish, but it seems that all the Saints are recommending theirs as well. 😂
