  • The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 4MATIC luxury, full-size SUV is expensive, but it's worth it. I drove this stripped-down, one-option GLS 450 (www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicl...) and loved it! This was a rental car from National (www.nationalcar.com/en_US/car...) and had no options at all, other than parking sensors. Here's a look and review at the very cool, wonderful-to-drive GLS450.

    Hello Fred, please ignore the mean comments. You gave a great review. So many haters.
    After your review I will consider getting one.

      Thank you for watching the video and for your kind comment. I just try to be honest and in this case it was kind of a random situation as I got this as a rental car. I really do think it's an impressive vehicle and delivers alot for its high price tag!

    Btw all our options that we put on our GLS 450 added up to $86,000, expensive! Worth every penny though.

      That's where you lose me. I might get an Escalade, blacked out Tahoe Graphite Edition or a big Lexus LX for that money.

    nice review, how's the ride compared to Range Rover HSE?

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A bit more rigid and German than the HSE. It's hard to answer as this was a 2018 so I'm sure the 2021 model is upgraded / improved. Also this was the base model so there was no adjustment to suspension or ride, the HSE allows you to really adjust both from soft and luxurious to super hard.
      I always recommend a long test drive so you can really feel which one you like better.
      And people might hate me, but if it was my money, I would get the loaded Hyundai Palisade Limited. Three rows of seats, luxurious interior and loaded with every bell and whistle for under $50K out the door.

    The quality of ride is angelic. It feels as if you're floating over the road, the cabin noise is deadly quiet and the transmission shifts effortlessly and smooth. The only drawback I experienced was the sluggish response in acceleration and I mean it is SLUGGISH. I'm not sure about the reliability and longevity of thos car but for the time I drove it, I was more impressed than not.

    • @FreddySherman

      I agree. Although I did put it in the Sport mode and it was much more responsive and sporty.

    • @AllAmericanGuy01
      @AllAmericanGuy01 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Luxury Fred Agreed. The sports mode did make a difference in the acceleration but I found it to be minimal. But overall, still a nice vehicle.

      Well, you can always go for the 550 or the AMG GLS for more power!

      AllAmericanGuy01 usually once you drive it for a while it adapts to your driving and the response gets better, especially in sport if you keep stepping on it it will keep itself in a lower gear for a longer period of time. Love the air ride can't beat it.

      I disagree with the SLUGGISHNESS of the 2018 GLS 450. I have one and when I hit my gas pedal it goes with more than adequate power. Traded in my 2014 Escalade for this one and I love this vehicle.

    Nice car, not sure I would consider buying one as their reliability are the pits. According to surveys from Consumer Reports it is among the bottom feeders in reliability, and US News does not think it is much better. People love the luxury, not so much the repairs. Why (besides the price) you don't see many of them on the road. People are more inclined to get an Audi if it is German car as they are more reliable (not great, but better than the alternatives). Thanks for sharing, interesting review.

      Great comments, thank you for watching. I was not aware of those issues, but that makes a lot of sense. I have driven the Q3 and Q5 but never a Q7, so it's hard to compare them, I hope to drive one soon and it would be interesting to look at how they compare price-wise.

      Actually GL,GLS,GLE,GLC,GLK old ML'S are more reliable than the Audi Q3,Q5, Q7 also mercedes is a better built car all-around.

      Please give your source. I gave Consumer Reports as mine. I do not know of a source that indicates what you wrote.

      I think you build them or work for them, Mr Alabama! But I probably agree they are more reliable and its a better, built car. I've driven both, I would spend the money for the MBZ, which I wouldn't have said before driving it.

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can speak to the driving experience and overall build quality I felt, I prefer the MBZ to the Audi.

      Remember this was a rental car, it's not my personal car.
      I bet your V8 is very nice, they are beautiful SUVs.

    At the beginning the car you said was a GLE was actually a GLK which when you mentioned the list of mercedes SUV'S you failed to mention it. Just a head's up next time you do a review on a car do your research about the car or car's before you talk about them.

    • @FreddySherman
      @FreddySherman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      THanks for watching. You can watch other people's reviews for more details, I just talk about my experience with the car. I mentioned all the SUVs. Are you referring to the car I drove by?

    • @alenblambic359
      @alenblambic359 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luxury Fred no I was referring to the GLK that was parked at the begging of the video. But yes those are very nice cars and very pricey like they say you get what you pay for with a benz. Great video overall keep up the good work.
