You're so right with expecting more, MB needs to put the S class interior in this vehicle. No compromise.
Always interesting to see where MB is marketing its GL models and love the blue color. Here in Canada we have a black 2014 GL 350 diesel with the AMG appearance package, no longer available new with this engine. With 450 ft lbs of torque It is more than adequate for power and VERY economical (about 10L per 100 km) compared with my older V6 R class. However Diesel is more costly than gasoline here. There are no belching emissions visible since the Ad-blue chemical fluid is injected in the exhaust. Our chrome rear valance is the same as the GL63 but has just flat pieces where the dual quad tips would be - i think it looks Okay like that. I have an older "Diana" S-class with leather and the GL is far more luxurious :)
If I could have enough space in the parking slot would get it straight away. But only x5 could go in. And as soon ur review of x5 f15 m50d went with ur advice and got 40d gray with black out M package nearly full option. Lovely car as well.

It's not that they didn't try with the exhaust but it's a diesel so it's better for the exhaust to face down.
+SDav21 Sure, that's fine. But I don't like the idea of just having fake exhaust tips instead. I'd prefer none at all.
AutoTopNL Why not? Then I suppose you could ask them for none. But it doesn't affect the car in any way. And it looks good.
+SDav21 I guess it's a matter of principle. You can see the plastic on the inside of the 'exhaust tip'.. It's becoming a trend to just fit a car with fake exhaust tips because it looks better, which I think isn't great.

I think its very sad that they put these pöastic things in the bag. If I pay so much money for a car like this I expect real exhausts

Not a long time ago I've got a lift in one of these and I have to say - the leather is just awful to the touch. I don't know the aviable leather kinds on this car, but that one felt much worse to me than the dakota leather in BMW's. IMO this kind of leather shouldn't even be aviable in that class. I guess there is a higher leather option and it would be a must for me.

OMG IT LOOKS LIKE A HUGGE BOX WITH WHEELS
Fake exhaust with slightly compromised sporty looks, is better with this engine size or bigger otherwise diesel smoke will deposit black soot over chrome highlights and bumper, standing at the rear with engine running will not be a very healthy or comfortable experience, even though diesel is lot cleaner now, I think it also helps with engine dynamics especially the distal angulation of exhaust outlet/ tip.

I think people who buy this car dont mind the exhaust. And i have to say, seeing some black diesel exhaust tips, i rather have this.

What kind of person buys a Mercedes GLS and starts to complain on how ugly the exhausts are? If you've got enough money to buy a GLS, you probably have more than enough money to get an aftermarket exhaust kit in there.

Well this is just a facelift of the GL. The all new interior will come with the new generation. This is a FACELIFT. Facelifts don't include entirely new parts but just a refresh. You couldn't have expected a totally new interior. Really?

I prefer the GLS 550. 258 horsepower is not enough for a car that size, especially in the U.S, I personally don't understand why people buy diesels can someone explain
-BOSS - better mpg,engines are more reliable
Also it will do 138 mph. I think that is sufficient. Sure, you will not be the fastest but it is "fast".
-BOSS - you get enough performance with the torque you get from powerful diesels ;)
I'm not sure about other countries, but in Vietnam, diesel price is much lower than petrol price, which makes it economical to opt for diesel car. Also, a diesel engine can give out more torque than a petrol one (both have the same displacement), which allows manufacturers to use moderate diesel engines, yet they can still put out enough torque. I think it's all about being economical.
In Europe fuel is much more expensive than in US, and taxes for cars with larger, less efficient engines are higher

I just don't understand why the exhaust s are a shame. The only thing that matters is the design and it's good. Who cares about how they deal with two stupid pipes.
