    Most accessory videos are dry, poorly made and boring. These are so great - I get the subtle humor as well as the obvious laughs - very entertaining. I'd buy products from this company vs competitors just based on the attention to detail in video production. It must translate (hopefully) over to the attention to detail in their products!

    Just installed mine today, and the quality of this carrier is top notch. Way nicer than some of the bumpers that look like somebody welded up some metal in their garage. No problems with 287/70R17 and 17x9 wheel with 4.5" BS.

    Well, I installed mine today. I used an adapter with the tire mount for my 35x12.50 17. I didn't like having to slide the tire mount out so far in order for my tire to actually fit. This way when I crank down the clamp bolts, there's plenty of cylinder to actually clamp on to. I first tried to use the adapter to mount my 12 gallon Titan fuel tank which actually worked out perfect except that the adapter I used was the one I had initially used to mount my tire onto the fuel tank. So that's a no-go unless I get another adapter which I will probably do since I really don't want to get rid of the fuel tank. Aside from that, the install was flawless and the tire carrier is awesome. No more friggin opening a tire swingout just to get to the door.

    The spare should be pressed hard against the hinge portion. Place the spare on the bracket and push into place. Mark on the bracket how far it is, pull the tire off, slide the bracket in another 1/4". Then tighten the pinch bolts and install the spare. You will pull the spare into position by tightening the lugnuts down.

    I just installed my new terraflex hinge and tire carrier. Love it. I had a smittybilt tire carrier before and it popped welds on my tailgate. Terraflex's design is tuff and swings well on its hinges. The tire dose not rattle and I don't hear the noise of stressed metal as I did before. Great product! I'm not very mechanically inclined and I took way too long getting the thing put on. The tire carrier was a more difficult install for me since I accidentally installed two of the lug studs backwards. I did fix the problem and it works fine! I spent about four hours total. It would be a lot quicker for most people.

    • @teraflexsuspensions

      We don't directly have an official weight rating, but the tire carrier and hinge combo can safely hold up to a 40 inch tire with the right wheel setup and bumper bumper for clearance.

    Question - when everything is installed, how close is the spare tire supposed to be to the hinge? I've seen photos where guys are installing it right up against it (rubber is pushing against the carrier) and photos where there's about 1 inch in between. What do you recommend?

    I just installed this and when installing the carrier onto the hinge, I accidentally put the spacers in as well as the rubber gaskets. Will this lead to any issues down the line? The offset is not too noticeable but it could be worse once a tire is on.

    • @teraflexsuspensions
      @teraflexsuspensions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The NEW Jeep Wrangler is quieter inside than ever before, and like this guy says on Motorweek (at time 3;30 in the video listed below); "now that its quieter, you can hear the thin metal on the back gate flexing from the weight of the spare tire over every bump you hit." ( Road Test: 2012 Jeep Wrangler ) . So that makes a product like this almost 'NECESSARY' for everyone.

    That's nice and all but it is still putting all that weight onto the stock hinge location. Those two hinges are not made for that kinda weight. You would have to go into the quarter panel and beef up the sheet metal hinge frame etc. Safe for 33's but after that I would save up and go with the bumper location.

    Careful what you say to those girls or they will turn around and kick you in the nuts.
    You said at 1:35 "Common girls, its only 60 pounds apiece (for each of you)". Well, those girls don't weigh more than 60 pounds each, so that's why they are struggling. Eventually they will realize that its far easier to kick you than to lift the tire, and that's when YOU are going to be in a ton of hurting.
