Yes! Tears. Smiles. Aplausse. He is magnificent... yesterday boy soprano and baritone today.
Such mature artistry in a twelve- year old helps reinforce our belief that lovliness and beauty still exist in the world. . . truly amazing voice. What happiness to hear this !

Mr. Magne H. Draagen waltzes the ivory on that fabulous pipe organ accompaniment. Superior performance.
True! I remember Magne used some trumpet-sounding pipes high up on the wall further down in the Cathedral room. Really impressive effect when hearing it live!
I have mentioned it to my manager/dad. Nowadays I mostly do things based on formal invitations.

What a change to have a recent recording. So often they are years out of date. This is the best treble I have heard since Aled. Confident, controlled, pure. A pleasure to listen to.
David Stone Thank you for the kind comment! I agree with you that it is much better to listen to recordings while the boy is still a treble - it is a bit sad when you listen to a voice that is already lost forever. We will keep the YT recordings coming, there are several opportunities in the next months :) Aksel is a huge admirer of Aled, so he was so happy to read your comparison, thank you :)

***** Yes that was the note I was referring to. Aled hit it spot on and it sends shivers through your spine. If I may say so your written English is excellent. It makes you wonder how many trebles go unnoticed in Cathedral choirs world wide. In my life time I`ve yet to hear better than Ernest Lough. There are a series of clips of him and a B.B.C documentary about his career.
***** I have watched the "King`s" performance by your son. His voice was really "on song" on this occasion. The high C so effortless. It send a shiver through me anyway.
David Stone Glad you liked it, I felt the same way :) Ernest Lough was indeed brilliant, I have enjoyed his "Hear my prayer" many times. It is a pity that the trebles of our time usuallly can't go on until 15-16 years of age as well. Thanks for the tip about the BBC documentary! PS Aksel is rehearsing for Hear my prayer with full choir as a soloist at the Røros Organ Festival (Norway) this September.

+Andrea Giampietro Sorry, but that doesn't necessarily hold true. Aled Jones had a stunning voice as a descant. His singing is embarrassing today.
+Guy Laurie I strongly disagree. True, his voice can`t compare with his treble but that`s an unfair comparison. Aled`s voice today is a pleasing light tenor. Did you know he`s just issued a C.D. using the latest technology with "both" his unbroken and mature voice?
+peterpiper704 Of course it's a fair comparison! The original point made by Andrea was that because this singer is a great treble, he will automatically have a great tenor voice. This is almost never the case. By you saying it's "pleasing" is to damn it with faint praise, so your'e conceding that it's not exceptional. If it were as great as his treble voice, he would be up there with Carreras, Pavarotti, or Gigli. He certainly isn't. At best, he's mediocre, and in my view, that rather flatters him.
+Guy Laurie I agree with your point that the treble voice doesn`t always turn into a first class mature voice. I think that you are being unnecessarily rude about Aled`s mature voice. Andrea`s forecast was rash.
There are so few boys sopranos of this caliber; there are loads of good tenors.

I think lots of rehearsals with teachers who know what they are doing has been the most important thing for me. But a good voice and musicality from nature helps, too, if it's ok to say that :)
