Forgot to mention there was a two pack of this released (in the same box, that goes for more money) that fixes a lot of the issues.
I had that 2 pack. It didn't fix very many issues imo.
They replaced the awesome silver god bomber chest with chrome and included two new titan masters for the Head master Jr.'s

@@jtelm157 Yes they did, the dude can stand better than the 2 separate ones..... The arms are more secure too... I had both releases but I sold the 2 separate ones so yeah
I had to get the upgrade to make it “better” and stable. For the extra weapons and addons which helped but it has its issues.
I love how nobody has ever tried to make God Bomber's altmode make sense. He's goofy looking and we accept that.

So I finally tracked this set down for myself about a month ago, however, I got the gift set version, and let me say this to anyone potentially interested in this figure, GET THE GIFT SET VERSION! They fixed literally EVERY tolerance issue he had on that version, I was legitimately shocked watching this video because I’ve never seen my figure do that, God Bombers hips are not loose, Neither are Ginrai’s, Ginrai’s heels lock into place, God Bombers arms stay attached, I could go on. I’m sad he got the regular version because I got the gift set and I legitimately can’t put him down, he’s one of my favorite figures now. Looks great, fun to pose, overall fantastic. So please keep that in mind
How much was it? I've wanted it for years ( The gift set version).
@ I got it for just under $200 USD in an eBay auction, I normally see it for around $250 when I would look for it

I sold my copy because it was poorly made. The plastic, for some reason, is a lot thinner than other CHUG figures (especially on God Bomber). Go for the upcoming MPG God Ginrai instead.

The original Powermaster Optimus Prime 1988 toy will always be my favorite . Can't wait to get Masterpiece Gattai Super Ginrai in the future.
The G1 PMOP was my first Optimus Prime figure ever, a belated 11th birthday present...it's literally why I don't have as much of an affinity for ol' skool 1984 G1 Optimus as others. 1988 Powermaster Optimus was MY G1 Optimus. And I got the LGEX God Ginrai box set a couple years ago, that thurr is my modern CHUG PMOP. Yes, it's rife with issues (Ginrai's shitty feet could've been avoided if Takara hadn't been so balls to the walls adamant on anime accuracy), but I still love this set.
You...missed a step in the combination: those shoulder guns on Super Ginrai move down to the Godbomber boots for God Ginrai. And while it was all Evan's fault, or so you say, apparently he's never heard of that particular fanmode transformation that lowers the wings and makes God Ginrai look more accurate (because whydafuq did Takara think havin' them up high like that was a good thing??).
With all that outta the way...*ARE YA GONNA GET THE MPG9 SUPER GINRAI & MPG14 GODBOMBER???*

Well the Age of the Primes Titan appears to be Star Convoy, but with Power Master Primes chest.
And he’s as tall as The Fallen for some reason.
So I guess it’s a 3-4 pack with figures that combine with him maybe?
The Masterpiece is on it's way. I tried to resist, but I'm getting it.
@frenchfriedbagel7035 if your referring to the box art for Star Convoy being the same height as The Fallen, can't take it literally. Obviously the titan one is gonna be bigger, maybe not titan big but still bigger

I have the giftset with improved tolerances and I still agree. Give us a fully embodied Super God Ginrai with a separate Ginrai, the Powermaster, and the lessons learned and embodied with Armada Prime. I think they'd do it WAY better now.
The sword detaches at the handle for storage, the blade slides under the canon and the hilt can fit into the canon in an alternate configuration for the missile.

I remember someone years ago saying that Powermaster Prime should have retooled out of Power of the Primes Optimus Prime, which was later retooled into Star Convoy. Meanwhile Combiner wars Ultra Magnus, which was retooled into Powermaster Prime should have been retooled into Star Convoy.
I don’t know enough about Star Convoy to really give an opinion, but given that POTP Prime is a trailer that has the truck cab plug into to complete the robot mode, I feel it does do a good job of capturing the spirit of the original toy.
I have always loved power master optimus's design and its a shame its not loved as much i mean there are so many ways to make this concept new and fun while using the old design im glad you enjoy his look as well as me!
I remember that the box set release of these two has retooled tabs on the heels making the combined mode less prone to falling over, but it was still a possibility. The only fix is the dna kit which has skyrocketed in price already, oh well

You can use God Bomber's thigh connectors to support the heels. No need for the perfect Effect set.
Huh. I had no problems having God Ginrai standing on his own for years, even with all 3 Perfect effect upgrade kits on him. Wonder if it's looseness from being second hand?
The standing issue got fixed with the perfect effect upgrade which puts leg supports on godbombers combiner peg
@@ElysiumEverlasting777 You dont even need them tbf. You can use God Bomber's thigh connectors to support the back of Ginrai's legs from the bottom and it stops him falling backwards just fine.

One of the best parts of these two, to me, is the fact that as the height is increased when you combine them, the arm length is also increased.
facts and very underrated.
Every bit of fiddle and frustration is the essential Legends God Ginrai experience. That last step is hunting for those Perfect Effect Parts. Most essential being 16 for the stability pieces.
And I wholeheartedly agree in that we need a Haslab for this because for what it costs in the secondary market, giving it all the doodads to make it functionally a Haslab would cost you five Haslabs if your aren’t lucky to find them at a good deal.

I’ve made it my mission to try to get a figure for every character in g1(Japanese shows included) and it’s insane how many characters there are. I never realised how massive the cast was for g1, and not everyone has a toy, and several are exclusive takara toys.

IIRC, there's a version of these two in a God Ginrai-themed multipack that fix all the issues on both figures that shown in this video, though it was unfortunately a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive.
Powermaster Prime was my first Prime as a kid, so when time came to get a new version, I splurged and got the superior Takara version, in spite of it's weird feet. Luckily, I recently found a foot upgrade kit on eBay.
A modern Powermaster Prime with modern Studio Series toolings would be an instant buy from me

I recommend getting the upgrade kits, they make him sooooo much better.
While I like the added possibility, the loss of a stand alone robot prior to merging with the cab is exactly why I never bought the original mold, god bomber is a nice edition, but I still want the stand alone robot separate from the trailer. Kinda wish power of the primes Optimus got a remold to Ginrai. Maybe he did and I missed it, but I’d buy that one.

From what we've seen on the Age of the Primes stuff, there is a picture on the side of the fallen's box, there is a weird hybrid of Power Master Prime and Star Convoy. Who knows?

I really hope that the rumors regarding a new Generations Power Master Prime turn out to be true. The box art for Age of the Primes shows the Thirteenth Prime looking suspiciously like a merger of both Power Master and Star Convoy and it could mean both are needed to form the Arisen.
Looks more like Star Convoy but with a more visible cab on his chest and no star.

I found the ‘21 reissue of Super God Ginrai with the chrome on it instead of the grey plastic and oh boy is it beautiful😭
God Ginrai (and Galaxy Convoy/Cybertron Optimus Prime) NEEDS long wings for that regal and powerful appearance, something HasTak seems unwilling to provide due to budget constraints…
if you saw the recent hasbro showing where they revealed megatronus and 86 devastator, you can look at the side of the box to see 2 other primes liege maximo (g2 design) and the 13th is actually powermaster prime. so thats officially confirmed i guess.
If you look at the Japanese Catalog for the Masterforce Transformers, the Godbomber unit looked like it didn't Parts-form, which they changed before release!
Dang, I know how expensive both of these guys are but I already have a TR PowerMaster Optimus, so I figured I could just get a bomber and combine the two and deal with the deco difference. I didn’t know Ginrai had that much combiner-specific retooling.
I had gotten the "power master" Optimus from the normal U.S. release, but when I saw the Takara Ginrai, I had to get it for no real reason, ended up with the chrome plastic Bomber with Cab and Minerva, and of course had to track down a Wheelie for Go.
Bomber is definitely the scarry one to mess around with for me, but yeah, total unstable.
I bought Magnus Prime simply because it has the biggest Autobot symbol on the trailer. 😂
If you can't find the Perfect Effect kits that braces the ankles and much bigger wing-tip engines, I believe there are copies of them being sold separately.

It might also be a reuse of the mould issue that causes them to collapse as joints can become loose the more the mould is used.
This is assuming the mould is mostly from Ultra Magnus.
Having heels that fold down from the back are just plain stupid if they don't have anything to lock them in place.

I thought about getting this guy....... then I learned about his inability to stand 😅. Hopefully Generations will circle back around with the current articulation standards we have.
Considering what this set goes for on the secondary market, especially when adding the Perfect Effect kits, I'll just wait a few months for the MPG versions. Super Ginrai is coming out at the end of the year, God Bomber is coming out next July, and both will probably be the definitive versions of these characters.
As much as I loved the Takara version the Upgrade Kits made it next level. (The Feet still suck)

I always kinda just left the combiner ports sticking straight up in combined mode. Makes it so that he can't tip more than about 5-10 degrees back. Also helps to plug the Super Ginrai guns into the lower legs and brace them against the ankles. Godbomber's just a mess tho. There's no fixing that.
I ended up going 3rd party for my modern Powermaster Prime, because none of the variations of this mold were doing it for me personally. I went with Maketoys Thunder Manus, which is beautiful.
Yeah, that one's great for a legends scale version, then for an MP scale there's Fans hobby Power Baser.
I really hope they revisit CHUG God Ginrai, hopefully the design of Star Convoy teased in the new lines artwork means we'll get some sort of retool...

Fan fact, Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime's headmaster is named Apex after him as a reference.

Same. Sepia colors, less options, less paint, weird stickers... But it has proper shoes, not hooves
@rigelc.hoffman2496 I added some more silver on his bot mode chest so that it all blends in better. Also added silver on his wheels so that they really pop.

The perfect effect upgrade for ginrai is a smaller prime that's pretty good as his own thing. It could be hard to find but there's plenty if kos of the samw quality of the og
If i were to get this, id hunt down the upgrade kit purely because it better secures the ankles

Hey man, I haven't gone through all your vids yet - but do you ever try third party? I got the Power Baser v3 (Ginrai) and God Bomber from FanHobby and I think they'd live up to your dream of a modern Powermaster Optimus or God Ginrai. I almost got what you posted in your vid, but I chose the FanHobby versions in the end because they're so damn good.
Honestly the thing that kills it the most for me is the wings being situated waaaay higher than they should be
You can fix that. Fans fold an alternate conversion that puts the wings at the shoulders. It doesnt close up at the back anymore, but the trade off is a better looking figure and that lost connection doesnt hurt anything.

Ultra Magnus should have been Power Core Optimus Prime with a trailer that partsforms into his armor using Combiner Wars joints and 5mm posts.

This is a cool modernization, but hugely suffers from too many cut corners in the plastic, and joint durability. Truck mode looks really fun, though that robot mode has wonky boot ankles that immediately remind me of the recent Ruckus figure. Still love the original in how big and dumb it looks with the God Bomber armor though that was about expected for any G1 combining toy. Would love to see Powermaster Prime done as a Commander class, and God Bomber as a standalone combining Leader. Easy money Hasbro.
Thinking back on this era of transformers it makes me still very upset. I almost got scammed out of getting unite Warriors computron and had to settle for the CW. Stupid Amazon seller nearly robbed me of a bunch of money and tried to get me to pay more after they lied about it shipping.

I've had PotP Powermaster Optimus since he came out, and it's weird going from that figure which I can only describe as clunky but very stable to this. Sure, the PotP version has the worse color scheme and cab, has an Orion Pax head for some reason, and absolutely worse hands because he uses Magnus' guns, but everything stays together and doesn’t have much play in it. Then there's this Super Ginrai who falls over if you breathe too hard on him
The Prime figure is the only Transformer I've ever returned, so fiddly and not at all fun for me to play with. Swapped him for Blaster and had way more fun.
Give us a commander powermaster Optimus prime and a voyager godbomber. Plz i love this form of Optimus prime
