As someone who used to be bullied, I think Maximus wanted to hear something negative because he wanted confirmation of how evil his bully was. He wanted him to prove that he was an awful person who bullied Max just because of how reprehensible he was. Instead, he humanized himself to Max, and taught him the nuance of human evil. It showed how his boogyman was just human, and humans can contain both good and evil inside them.
She looks so much like Nichelle Nichols in the later Star Trek movies with that afro that I kept doing double takes in the first episode. Both gorgeous 60s icons who aged so gracefully. It's nice to see that generation of actors represented in the show.
There's actually quite a lot of practical effects in this. The whole bit with Lucy walking past the ruined ship was actually filmed in Africa, and they only had one chance to shoot it since they had to worry about leaving the appropriate tracks in the sand. Likewise, the confrontation in Filly was filmed in an actual repurposed section of a massive junkyard.
The Water Chip being broken is a nod to the first game where it's the Mcguffin of the player. It's also a long running gag in the series as pretty much all the games has the same plot structure. "X gets broken/taken away, Player leaves safety to the wasteland, X gets discovered but ultimately a stronger enemy is in the way, Player chooses what faction to side and solves the problem by the way of the faction"

The reason the gulper turned inside-out was because Maximus grabbed the anchor and pulled really hard at the same time he was pulling on Thaddeus. It's easy to miss, but if you check it you'll see a split-second where it shows him grabbing the anchor. Another brutal kill with the power armor, haha
He actually puts his foot on the anchor for leverage (never grabs it he hasn't got three arms) and because the gulper has almost ingested Thaddeus and the fingers are his "hooks" he ends up with his guts pulled out... all the pink pieces of meat on the ground after.
The effects this episode were amazing! It's been so long since we've gotten a show where they have a big monster fight out in daylight and it looked amazing too
The wasteland scenes were apparently filmed in Kolmanskop and Elizabeth Bay (and maybe parts of the skeleton coast) in Namibia, that shipwreck in the beginning is real..
Fun fact: Lucy is played by the woman who voiced Jinx in Arcane and yes, the Ghoul (aka the guy from the beginning of this episode) is played by the guy who voices Cecil in Invincible.

Haven't watched past episode 3 yet, but I think there's something up with his wife. When he asks if the suits actually protect from radiation, the gives the suits a subtle nod before they answer

18:00 the way power armor works is it senses the nervous system of the person in it, and detects when your muscles flex to then mimic the movements . Also their are small plates that detect pressure within it . In the Games it doesnt Nueral Link Backwards like the shoe and none of the lore depicts that. Thats something the show runners cooked up .

The musical score in the scene where the vault residence are discussing what to do with the prisoners reminds me so much of Westworld. I guess Jonathan Nolan hired Ramin Djawadi who provided the musical score for Westworld and Game of Thrones, is working on Fallout? EDIT: I just looked it up and holy shit it is Ramin Djawadi as the composer for Fallout. Really glad Nolan kept him, he’s a great composer.

The side track line was amazingly relatable when you play the games. It is funny because it is a open world game and side missions all over. You get side tracked so much that you play 50 hours and still are at the beginning of the main story.
I love the casting in this show. I completely buy all of the actors as the main characters they are playing. I think Maximus might have made a mistake not being just slightly more honest about the situation. He should've told just most of the truth that happened with Titus and left out the part of him letting Titus die. Completely lying and pretending to be Titus is most likely going to come back to bite him in the butt. It's too bad that the guy that bullied Maximus shifted the bullying he was getting on to Maximus. He could've tried to become friends with him and Drake which might have lessened or eliminated the bullying at the base. If they formed a group of their own to go against the bullies that would've made things better for everyone. At least that's what I would've done. I've never been afraid of bullies and hated others picking on people. Anyone picked on my friends they had to go through me first. As far as those raiders in the vault they have to go. They are too far gone to be rehabilitated and they will lose a bunch of resources trying to do so if it's going to take years. I hate to say it, but Lucy's brother Norm is right that they have to be dealt with for the safety of those still alive in the vault. Your first priority in a survival situation as a leader is keeping those under your protection safe. The raiders being alive or set free is not going to do that. You can't lead people with naivety or you'll just get everyone killed. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌ out.
The whole communist = foe thing is a huge part of the fallout game-lore. Whenever you stomble over some pre-war communism-lore (in diarys, old newspapers, messages, letters) in the games they made it so ridicolously exaggerated, its really funny and nuts. Nice satire aspect to the real american fear of communism back in the days (and for some forever-yesterdays still maybe).

yeah the gulper inner fingers grabs prey and pulls them into its stomach. since it was latching onto the guy then maximus with enough stregnth pull the guy out while the gulper was gripping onto him ,hence its innards got yanked out.
If that water gulper thing is like a reptile when it gets stressed it will throw up its prey to try and escape! I guess it chucked up a bit too much and died!

Sometimes it involves death races in desert planets where you have lunatics and cannibals wearing masks. Fallout features factions fighting to survive in a nuclear wasteland which kind of looks like a desert. Vault dwellers are people essentially living in their own bubbles but are meant for experimentation purposes. You have cannibals and lunatics in this setting as well. In my opinion, they are similar. But with some key differences, of course.

@@charlie7mason Borderlands features a dystopian society where you have mercenaries and other factions hunting for alien artifacts. Sometimes it involves death races in desert planets where you have lunatics and cannibals wearing masks.
Fallout features factions fighting to survive in a nuclear wasteland which kind of looks like a desert. Vault dwellers are people essentially living in their own bubbles but are meant for experimentation purposes. You have cannibals and lunatics in this setting as well.
In my opinion, they are similar. But with some key differences, of course.
