Your talk had me in tears. Hard to believe parents could be so cruel to abandon an already vulnerable family member / child over a difference like that. What are they thinking? Punishment and penalty for being different? It's like throwing them to the wolves. I wouldn't do that to my worse enemy! Where is the humanity in that. Your talk was so compelling, left me wanting to hear more! I could tell you were very passionate about this, seeing it first hand.
Currently couch surfing as an eighteen year old trans teen who had to run away. I would really appreciate advice, I’m in illinois btw, but right at the border with Wisconsin so living there could also happen. I have amazing queer friends who understand my situation, and I’m definitely one of the lucky ones. If you’re also experiencing this, I love you for existing as you, and you are more capable than you might think. Meet people, take advantage of resources and follow your gut💗
I enjoyed your talk. I reviewed it for my class and found it very informative as well as sad that the youth of today have to endure these hardships. I hope, as a social worker, to be able to help eliminate these injustices. Thank you for sharing this information. To all the negative comments below, get a life.
Housing is a human right. We can easily house everyone, but only by ending the real estate industry. De-commodify housing and everyone can have a place to live.
