Calling anti-abortionists "pro-life" is extremely misleading, and should be stopped. Most women who get abortions are also "pro-life", and want to live, and at the right time, might later want to have children. It's like calling someone who overeats "pro-food", implying that someone who eats correctly is "anti-food". Or calling some women, who decide not to have children at all, "anti-life". Most of the terms used in this debate are seriously flawed in their application, and cause erroneous emotional reactions.

@vic So excuse me for saying this, but if the GOP want to be "pro-life", then explain to me where all the programs are for helping mothers who are now going to be FORCED to give birth? What about the kids? Once they're born, what about childcare? What about maternity care and leave (of which the US is one of the only countries in the WORLD to offer NOTHING in that regard)? What about funding for adoption programs and agencies that make unwanted pregnancies easier? What about psychological help for the 14 year old that got, let's say, victimized walking home from school? You wanna make abortion illegal, then do something about that too.
No? Radio silence? Okay, then it's not "pro-life", it's "anti-choice".

Same with a fetus, if a woman revokes her consent of the fetus using her body, she has the right to govern her body and have the fetus removed.

Every person has the right to govern their own body, including their organs and their contents.
If you needed a liver transplant, you could not take part of another's liver, even if that meant you would pass away as a result.
Nobody has permission to use my body without my consent, same rules apply to a fetus. Even of a person is dead, you still cannot take their organs unless they consented to it while they were alive.
Same thing with a pregnancy. If the woman carrying the fetus doesn't consent to be pregnant anymore, she has the right to govern her body and have the fetus removed. The fetus does not get to continue to use the woman's body once she removes consent.
That's it, that's the argument. This isn't about "babies" or religion or adoption. It all boils down to consent and governing one's own body. The right of the pregnant woman supercedes and fetus contained inside her.

How are they so OK with completely ignoring what most people want. There's the now famous clip (thanks to Amber) of Marjorie Taylor Greene being creepy as all hell saying through a mail slot that AOC needs to come out and talk to the people who pay her salary while she herself is currently being investigated for whether she should be allowed to be on the ballot for not doing what the people who pay her salary want and being a party to a violent insurrection. @@dontransue9843 to repeat: do you have any idea how many other freedoms aren't codified in specific terms in the Constitution that would be at risk, after this happens? It wouldn't be pretty. Take travel, for instance. "Show your papers" at every state or even county border, since you don't have the right to travel without reporting it to authorities specifically named in the Constitution. 😄
That could be just the beginning. You aren't specifically allowed to choose where your child(ren) attends school in the Constitution. You aren't specifically allowed to purchase items in privacy that the government might be interested in knowing you own, like alcohol. There's the choice of who you marry that the authorities may not agree with, either. Don't like it? Tough, it's not in the Constitution. 😄
Want those states' rights strengthened so some can outlaw bodily autonomy? That means a state would have the right to control how much ammunition you're allowed to purchase, and forget about crossing state lines with it, as well. It doesn't affect your guns, after all, just the ammo. 😄
You may even need to sign papers to be able to even attempt a pregnancy in a state - and if that state wants to be like states that have draconian abortion bans, they can also make it illegal to cross state lines for an "accidental" pregnancy to be "initiated." Or you may not be allowed to access contraception of any kind, even if married.
You may have certain... bedroom activities curtailed and made illegal, even if you are straight, as many things can be considered "sodomy or other unnatural sexual activity." You may even see blatant bigotry and racism used - legally - to keep people out of living in some areas, going to school at some schools, working in some jobs, or even enjoying recreation in some areas.
Think it's impossible for any of these things to happen? Think again. They are _all_ based on the same _nonspecific_ human rights used to make the original Roe vs Wade decision.

We have checks and balances. The leak was probably intentional so they can gage public reaction to such a decision. Also, the people are over 50% in favor of a woman's right to choose. Don't underestimate congresses ability to set precedent by checking the power of the court. Congress can amend the constitution thereby overriding a supreme court decision.
