My idea is to have politicians be LICENSED. They should be licensed and tested and have to take continuing education credits (including ethics training) like the rest of the professionals that impact our lives, i.e., real estate agents, insurance agents, financial advisors, cosmetologists, nurses, doctors, therapists, etc. EVEN A NAIL TECH HAS MORE TRAINING IN HIS/HER FIELD than a politician.

I'm 39 yrs old, if you told me ten years ago Donald Trump would dismantle the greatest democracy in the world I would NEVER believe you, yet here we are.
That's why it's important to read history books. The takedown of democracy started with Newt Gingrich, Mitch McConnell and other Republicans. Dump was the perfect puppet for them. Don exceeded expectations, for them, and Putin. Donald made no attempt to hide who and what he is.

I voted weeks ago, by mail, as all Oregonians do. I love the ballot tracker that tells us once our ballot arrives at a polling station to be counted and then again once it is accepted (or not). So efficient! We have so little issues it's like 0.00003% of votes that have problems but they stay on top of it. Love Oregon.
Our county here in Tx. shut down a bunch of voting areas-gotta drive 22 miles.

Just like Colorado. We've been doing like that for more than 14 years. And with no issues or problems and total security. The only way to vote! (well you can still go to traditional polling places and vote in person if that's what you like... Why?) And you won't hear any complaints from Colorado GOP about it because they also know it works.

Democracy was frowned upon by the American and French elites (as shown in the Federalist Papers), so, instead of adopting Athenian democracy, they chose Roman Republicanism. Democracy never involved elections.
As for inflation, there's no reason to think that it's Biden's fault, if that's what you imply. There are plenty of other factors, like the pandemic and gas price gouging.

@@marcocappelli2236 I agree with most of what you're saying, but there's nothing mutually exclusive about the terms "democracy" and "republic." Since we've become more democratic over time, it's fair to say we are a democratic constitutional republic as that we do meet that definition, even if the democracy part needs... a HELL of a lot of work.

Yeah, I live here. Born and raised and own many firearms. However I voted blue all the way down the ticket. Threatening people because you don't like their political leaning reminds me of the enactment of the Reichstag Fire Decree.
