Was this the episode where the actors played multiple roles? The guy driving the blue Oldsmobile looks just like Ponch. (the other person in the Olds and the man in the Mazda also looked like Chips actors who played patrolmen)
And nobody thought to throw it in neutral... no parking (emergency) brake either, once it's in neutral... or using the concrete barriers to slow down instead of trying to hit every single car in sight. Ah yes, the good old days of cringy telly shows with cheesy funky music but no logic whatsoever, gotta love it!
I watched this show for the great late 60’s early 70’s cars and the cool highway crashes, but the constant cheesy disco music was so annoying that I rarely watched an entire episode.
I owned a Mazda Rx 4 and my brother had a RX 2 THE RX 3 AND 2 AND 4 ARE HARD TO FIND THE LITTLE PICKUP IS HARD TO FIND .They had them in back lots when dealers closed sad the seals wore out and electrical problems they rebuild them now and sell them fast .
We must have been nieve cause all the shows I watched in the seventies and see reruns today is like what the heck was I thinking, but then again that's what we had.
While watching this scene I recalled yet another reason I never watched this show back in the day. I really despised the on going disco music in every action scene. Besides I was already 18 and I didn't watch kid's shows. None the less there are some nice looking cars from the '60s and '70s here and a few semi entertaining stunts. Couple that with the great picture quality of the episodes I've got.
Also what's with officers riding in pairs everywhere? Might as well put them in a patrol car together. I watch for the old cars and also for the cringe.
I hate it when my brakes fail, the ignition key gets stuck and my steering linkage comes apart. It happens all of the time when I get on the highway.
OMFG!!!!
I remember this ridiculousness some 47 years or so after it first aired...
There is a special feel in an Oldsmobile! 🚀
I always love the car chase from chips especially all those different old cars in the show.
Poor Cougar, probably had just a few more car payments to go 😤🚗💥
And probably a 351c under the hood.
aw man seeing that clean '68 Montego MX get torn up hurts
OH GOD NOT ANOTHER MAZDA RX-2 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That RX-2 would probably outrun that Olds! Notice they dubbed in the wrong engine sounds from the Mazda. I had two RX-3s. I would know.
"I can't hold it straight on the road!", he says, as he angles that wagon off into the grassy hill, then turns back into traffic.
So you cause 7 accidents but have a valid excuse, but run from the cops?
Why didn't he just shift to neutral??
The Classic one wheel burn on a 60s car Priceless Outstanding video CCW2
I've just bitten all my nails off watching that😂, but some great cars wrecked 😮
Is it me or did CHIPS wreck a lot of Cougars?
They didnt have crown vics yet
@Lettersinthesand-wp5rj I guess you are right. Had a 69 and 70 XR7,69 Wiindser,70 Cleveland.
Probably and with the 351C 4v.

Could be they were trying to cut a lot of corners on this stupid show

Totally pointless from start to finish. Nice Mazda thou
Same Rx-2 instantly gets turned into a windshieldless roadster in another episode. Woops🥴
They always zoomed onto the wheel going by.
So it's no surprised to have road rage that turns into demo derby because of stuck throttle that also makes his junker into christine 🤔.
I always drive like that. Lol
Midlife Crisis, 70's Style.
Nice graphics

Imagine being a kid and trying to watch this crap..😂
It's so much better than the male bovine fecal matter on today.
I watched an episode a few years ago & thought to myself 'Why did I like this when I was a kid?'
No need to image for most of us.

I would love it

CHiPs was always cringe... fake, not unlike the actual organization.

This is so lame that it's pathetic.

The Olds took everybody out!
