This man taught me everything I know about bass fishing. I’m talking I bought my first bait caster and watched his tutorial probably 3 or 4 times and could finally make a good cast. Gene is great teacher and I’m so happy he’s still out here teaching us about the great sport of fishing. Thanks for everything Flukemaster
Gene, what a way to come out with your first 2022 video. Chatterbaits are one of my favorite baits to use. I have had some success using them but I really appreciate you showing us the different styles of retrieving it. I will be watching this video a couple more times so that I will remember what you did. Great seeing you again and I cannot wait for your next video.
Watched this video this morning. Been fishing a chatterbait for 3 years and haven't caught anything on it. Tried these techniques today and caught 9 in the 2-3lb class ripping it through the grass and edges. Thanks Gene!
I really like the crosseyez Chatterbait, has a perfect adjustable weed guard, not too stiff, not too flimsy. Great hook on it and the skirt is tied, not rubber banded. If it rolls over on wood it’ll slide right through. Give them a try! Great video!
Gene it feel like forever. Finally we can almost fish comfortably here in the northeast. Thanks for the vid we appreciate you and the wind was no issue
Gene…this video is a LEGIT gamechanger for me! Thank you sir! Be safe and keep having fun out there on that yak! I sincerely thank you for sharing your knowledge! God bless!
I just got a 13 fishing blackout rod that I will be using as a chatterbait/spinnerbait/moving bait rod with 15lb mono so it has plenty of stretch and softness to the combo.
Gene could you do a video on the types of grass? I know it might be hard to show examples of the differences between the grass, but I'm new to lake fishing and I think it would be a good help
Great to see you back with fresh content. Was getting worried about you/family since you hadn't even made an appearance to celebrate the Dawgs championship. SEC --- it just means more!!
Your the first person in their chatterbait video thats mentioned the picasso ones. Those are one of my favorite chatterbaits. They have the new ones now with the different shaped head so the blade will lie flat against it when you stop it or a fish eats it. The picasso and the phenix living rubber chatterbait----my 2 favorites.
This is a really good video gene. I’m going to try that slow retrieve next time I’m out. Also grass carp are almost a problem for my lakes. They literally leave no grass left no matter what. In the spawn it’s a benefit but otherwise it’s miserable to not have any structure or grass.
Awesome to see videos again. Learn a lot out of this video. Was wondering if a 7’ 2” mh moderate, 13 fishing omen black would be good for chatterbaits also?
No one ever mention the 13 fishing jeff its a great trailer i love how its fat it helps the chatterbait roll over logs like beaver body but has great action.
great chatter bait vid, Gene. I have been experimenting with trailers as well. Obviously I like the Zako, and rage menace. I also like the action the kamikazee has as well as hog farmer spunk shad! of course I can’t in my comments without saying “Go Dawgs!!!!”
Hey Gene! Primarily shallow river smallie fisherman here (susquehanna is my home body)....Between a spinnerbait and chatterbait, under what conditions do you prefer the chatterbait and why?
When you were talking about fishing it in a lake with no vegetation while rolling it slowly and bumping it off the bottom, do you think it would get hung up a lot if I fish it horizontal to the shore on a rocky bottom?
You would be more likely to get it stuck in between two rocks than hooking a rock I fish chatterbaits through branches and get caught up sometimes but they are stronger than spinners or cranks you can just pull them out
If you leave the elaztech trailer from Zman on the trailer on the chatterbait will the trailer melt the skirt ? Also I live on the in Chattanooga and usually fish Chickamauga. Do you recommend a silver or black blade and what color skirts do you recommend?
No. Skirts are made from rubber or silicone. Senkos and other baits you don't want to store together because the PVC doesn't mix well with elaztec material. I use zman baits on all of my skirted lures with no issues.
Needs some help, I just had a new pond built this past fall. Looking to stock it this spring but having trouble finding hatchery's in north Georgia. What's the best way to find them?
Hey Gene! Flat trailers made me think: have you gotten a chance to try out the 10000 fish yoto worm? Got one in the MTB advent calendar but too cold here to really try it out. I've heard some good things but there's not a lot out there and if there's anyone's opinion I trust it's yours!
Gene, I still..after 5+ years of bass fishing have not caught a bass or even a fish on a chatterbait and I have all the brands, all the trailers, all the tips tricks etc?! I've fished one everytime I've gone out just to increase my chances. I love the bait but have ZERO confidence in it anymore. I have a 13 fishing Chatter-crank rod and a evergreen jackhammer rod with a daiwa 6.3:1 sv tw reel. and I run 12lb-17lb daiwa samurai fluorocarbon.
Dude thanks man!! I’ve been fishing every weekend, Friday thru Sunday, the last four years and I’ve only caught two or three chatter bait fish and it isn’t from lack of throwing it!!! I’ve tried everything lol but after seeing this video, I guess I haven’t!!! I’ll definitely give it a try with these tips this weekend! Thanks buddy
Wish you would come to my lake in Leakesville Mississippi. 85 acres. Super clear water. We have huge bream. Caught a poacher in there. He had 2 bass over 9 pounds and one that weighed 14 pounds 2 ounces. His trolling motor battery died. I towed him back to our launch. Give me a call.

Great info Gene. Thank you!
Thanks for identifying the grass in this video. I’ve always wondered exactly which grass it is I’m pulling up with the bait.
Awesome video! I caught a 5 pounder on the green pumpkin 1.25 oz late summer last season.
I really appreciate this video. I have tons of Chatterbaits just sitting in my tackle box🤦🏾♂️
Glad to see a new video.
I just got a 13 fishing blackout rod that I will be using as a chatterbait/spinnerbait/moving bait rod with 15lb mono so it has plenty of stretch and softness to the combo.
Yoooooo sensei Fluke master miss u man. Chatter baits is a confident bait for me. Can’t wait to see more videos.

Man, I am glad to see a video from you. Was looking to talk to you about the KBF Guntersville tournament.
Great pointers Gene. I'm definitely going to give them a try
Great to see you back with fresh content. Was getting worried about you/family since you hadn't even made an appearance to celebrate the Dawgs championship. SEC --- it just means more!!

Good to see you Gene.
Yay a video been waiting for one of these for a while now!
I thought you gave up bass fishing and started fishing for winter trout. Good to see you back making vids.
Yes
Fluke ,great information once again. Hope your next tournament will be better for ya.
Good stuff, thx Gene👍
Winter only changes for a day or 2 in Florida
Great information as always
My man Gene!!!!! Gonna put these in my Arsenal, beard still on point!! Lol
Hey will you coming to the Bassmaster Classic this year?
When you talk about the seasons and when to use certain baits, does that also apply to Florida where it’s hot year around?
Thanks for the awesome info!!
Great video!

Man your a mind reader I was literally just thinking yesterday I'm like man hopefully flukemaster post a video its awhile
Great video on chatter baits Gene, appreciate all the tips and can't wait for the ice to melt here in Ohio to try them out, thanks for sharing 🎣🙂
Gene have you ever used the weedless chatterbaits? With a guard
No one ever mention the 13 fishing jeff its a great trailer i love how its fat it helps the chatterbait roll over logs like beaver body but has great action.
Gene, off subject but are you running a Torqeedo with a power pole? Can you use both together and can you do a video on how to mount them together.
Good video and very detailed.
great chatter bait vid, Gene. I have been experimenting with trailers as well. Obviously I like the Zako, and rage menace. I also like the action the kamikazee has as well as hog farmer spunk shad! of course I can’t in my comments without saying “Go Dawgs!!!!”
Fish a lake here in the Ozarks, that has grass carp in it,thus not much grass ,thanks for the chatterbait tip on water as such!
Awesome video
He’s alive!!!! Must have been partying hard after that Bulldog win.
We have eagles on my home lake. I saw one go off on a blue heron once. It was trying to rip that blue heron out of the air. It was crazy.
Hey Gene! Primarily shallow river smallie fisherman here (susquehanna is my home body)....Between a spinnerbait and chatterbait, under what conditions do you prefer the chatterbait and why?
Thank you.
Thanks Dude. You're awesome.
Excellent
Awesome video Gene! How often do you chatter baits while fishing?
I saw your truck and searched u up fye content
When you were talking about fishing it in a lake with no vegetation while rolling it slowly and bumping it off the bottom, do you think it would get hung up a lot if I fish it horizontal to the shore on a rocky bottom?
You would be more likely to get it stuck in between two rocks than hooking a rock I fish chatterbaits through branches and get caught up sometimes but they are stronger than spinners or cranks you can just pull them out
Missed you Gene!
Great video. Glad to see that you still know how to make a video. One day you might learn how to fish . 😆
Glad to see you back🎣👍

When he said in the Ozarks my ears and eyes perked cause I'm in Arkansas and been fishing a chatter bait to no luck lost many on the way
Are you doing a Friday night live this week?
Needs some help, I just had a new pond built this past fall. Looking to stock it this spring but having trouble finding hatchery's in north Georgia. What's the best way to find them?
There’s this new app on iPhones called safari an you just get on there an type in your question an say abracadabra and you can find them!🤯
Wow... I never thought of that before
Hey Gene! Flat trailers made me think: have you gotten a chance to try out the 10000 fish yoto worm? Got one in the MTB advent calendar but too cold here to really try it out. I've heard some good things but there's not a lot out there and if there's anyone's opinion I trust it's yours!
How cold is that water? :)

How did it turn out?
Wish you would come to my lake in Leakesville Mississippi. 85 acres. Super clear water. We have huge bream. Caught a poacher in there. He had 2 bass over 9 pounds and one that weighed 14 pounds 2 ounces. His trolling motor battery died. I towed him back to our launch. Give me a call.
Is a swim tail usable as a trailer?
Yes it is.but flip it upside down and the tail will kick faster and match the blade vibration better.
Sweet knife
