I do two mods to the blades. 1) wiggle the blade to loosen the action. It deepens the vibration. 2) In conjunction, to strengthen the vibes, cup the blade's lateral sides forward with needlenose plyers (of course, if you wanted to mod to reduce the vibes, bend the edges backwards or cut them back altogether with tin snips).
Love the jackhammer. I want to love the thunder cricket as much but I’ve had issues with the skirts on those… you just can’t beat the jackhammer I reckon.
I miss fishing mosquito lake and the lake in astubula by the water plant if you go where the water plant is man there is always mad white bass there.. it's been over 30yrs since I fished both those lakes. Let's Go Buckeyes
That's awesome! I'm in Chillicothe Ohio. I've been watching a lot of your videos. I just started targeting bass last year. And your videos really helped me out.
Now that u said something it DOES look like a Green Screen lol i know it's not but it def looks like it bc the outline of your body blurs a little when you move, DOPE CAMERA! That camera is awesome!
It’s the lens -set to a wide aperture this makes items close to the camera in focus and farther away items out of focus, or a little blurry It’s a nice effect for the video
The terminator shudder bait. My favorite . Basically the same thing but with a plastic curved blade. Caught my PB on it and was prob the most productive lure last season
I just received a couple Stealth Blades, Mini-Max and Big Blade Chatterbaits... looking forward to trying each one out... The Thunder Cricket out performed all other moving baits for me last year
I got a mystery box (not from the mb company) and it had one with a hook that wasn't part of the jig head. So kinda like a trailer hook for the main hook. Can't wait to try it this year.
When, where, how. When you're on a body of water, where the deepest part is, you carefully cut off the tip and barb of the hook and baseball what's left into Davy Jones locker. Dispose of the hook remnants in a container in a dumpster. Afterwards, tie on a 4 through 6 plain ol' j bend worm hook, Texas rig a six through 12 inch black plastic worm, and fish it very slowly, as in set the rod down for a minute. Learned that from an old guy decades ago. He had seven bass that morning all over 4.lbs. That was normal for him. While I'm sure that some anglers do have success with a chatterbait, I ain't one of them. Topwaters, frogs and worms etc in pads and weeds and blow downs, that's me. But I seriously do appreciate this young mans videos and skills that he shares, and do learn from them.
Another great video Tyler! I love throwing Jackhammers on a 7’2” Med. Hvy. Glass rod with a 7:1.1 or higher reel. You definitely need a high speed reel when they’re “really eating” that bait!!
Hey man this past fall up to October I was catching largemouth and Smallie on a chatterbaits with trailer plus Spinnerbaits double blades. They work great 👍 Thank you for sharing a great video 📹 👍
How would you use a chatterbait with the temperatures around 45-55 degrees? Would you use the chatterbait on main points or secondary points? I was looking to get some advice on Dale Hollow Lake for March tournament.
Probably one of the biggest areas I fish it is on channel swing banks. Wish it like you would a Spinnerbait when the water is the cold. Slow roll it. Also, I have seen in the spring that if you can find some off color water, once that water hits about 50 those fish will start pushing into pockets and will relate to wood/rock. This tends to be an afternoon bite
My first chatterbait bass wax over 6lb. I had thrown them a littke but decided to lock it own one day and it's a new normal in my box. Jig fanatic anyways. Jigs my confidence bait
I love using a chatter bait. I use it often but I sometimes change because so many people use it. Can’t wait till spring man. Water is frozen her in Michigan. Hopefully using some vacation in the end of February or early March and going south. Just dying to get fishing. Love your video Tyler. Can’t wait to fish soon.
The chatterbait has been my #1 favorite 3 season power fishing lure. Have you tried that new z Mann minimax yet? Waiting to get my hands on one, curious if the size would help with more finicky bass or if it just helps produce more numbers
I’m dying here in Michigan. It’s soooo freaking cold and I want to fish so bad. Love this video. Watched it 3 times. Can’t wait to get to some water. Looking forward to an early spring video. I’m going use some vacation time and go south somewhere and fish
Chatter baits are as versatile as rattle traps once I got them where I wanted them to be a slow to moderate retrieve worked for me and got some violent stricks.
Been throwing a jackhammer on Toledo bend east Texas for 5 months now. Several different colors. Trailer/no trailer. Lots of money for these. Never had a fish bite. Hung in a bunch of brush though. Save your money and throw a Texas rig plastic.
There are a lot of rods that can work for a chatterbait and it can be confusing. Some guys like pure graphite rods and others like Graphite/Glass Rods. I think Medium is the lowest power that I would go with for a rod, ML may not be enough to handle 3/8 and 1/2 chatter baits. The rod that I will be fishing a chatterbait on this year is this one ---> Tharp Series B-Hittay rebrand.ly/knxagzo
After having two jackhammer get stuck trying to run it on the bottom.... ill no longer do that. Unless I get em with the five finger discount. Thats 20 bucks a pop crazy.
So my question is....when you lifting your rod or ripping it from grass do u mean yo yoing like a lipless where u rip it hard and it's vibrating so hard it rattles your rod? Or just trying to flutter it up or both lol???
@@BassFishingHQ thanks dawg...yeah I've just heard other anglers say what u been saying and was wondering if they are talking like really getting the jack hammer jackhammerin where it's really vibrating when yanked.
I swear the first time I saw you sitting in this setting I was like no way that’s gotta be a green screen. There’s just something about it that looks different😂
The clear blade chatterbait are junk! The rest are great! Thunder cricket are okay, but not as good as the Zman chatterbait. The ones with 2 split rings, never worked for me. I have a hard time for the blade to work correctly.
The 6th Sense prawn is also a great trailer for a bladed jig or non bladed jig. I use whatever manufacturer product that catches the most fish. So Z-Man, Googan, Strike King or 6th Sense. All make great baits with quality terminal tackle on it.
Love the video I’m always telling people to check out your channel one of my favorites by far. What part of Ohio you in? I live in Ohio also I live close to buckeye lake 30 min east of Columbus.
@@BassFishingHQ I love alum more as well fished a couple opens up there last year.Buckeye was great when I was kid but it’s tougher then it used to be + alum got smallies so that helps 😂
Great video! I am 100% going to start fishing chatterbaits in 2022 and this really helped me understand the when's, where's, and how's!
I feel like everything I've spent years working on and refining was just put into one video and put on blast 😅 The versatility is absolutely amazing.
I was not a believer in the chatterbait but last weekend back to back catches fishes just proved to me that it works. This is a versatile lure.

Definitely my 2021 confidence bait. Second to a rattle trap lipless crankbait!! Great video Tyler
Solid info man!! I’ll definitely be diving deeper into the bladed jig this year! Appreciate all the helpful info
They are so much fun to throw. 😎 happy fishing!

It’s a nice effect for the video

Use a 6.5 inch float trick worm. The worm REALLY dances and hold on the rod, cause they hammer it!
Ugh so many lures and techniques to practice this year. I’ll need more tackleboxes
I just recently bought a Zman big blade on your recommendation and caught a nice one on 1st cast. Love all the awesome tips. Thanks
Hey man this past fall up to October I was catching largemouth and Smallie on a chatterbaits with trailer plus Spinnerbaits double blades. They work great 👍 Thank you for sharing a great video 📹 👍
So is the big blade bait better in cold water assuming you can work it more slowly?
How would you use a chatterbait with the temperatures around 45-55 degrees? Would you use the chatterbait on main points or secondary points? I was looking to get some advice on Dale Hollow Lake for March tournament.

@@BassFishingHQ hell yeah
For a Florida fisherman like myself, a chatterbait is the bread to a Texas rig’s butter!
Thanks Tyler. Never fished one. Learned alot about it here.
What? Never used a chatterbait? Definitely get a few of them and use a Berkley pit boss for a trailer.

@andy pincince NOOOOOOOO I’ve been ice fishing in my life but hate it. Lol
I feel same way Michigan is cold now cant wait to get out there
The lakes in Kansas doesn't have hardly any grass. I usually us the 1/2 oz.
Chatter baits are as versatile as rattle traps once I got them where I wanted them to be a slow to moderate retrieve worked for me and got some violent stricks.
Whats your preferred weight when slow rolling or fishing the chatterbait like a jig for deeper offshore spots, like 15-20’?
If it is 15-20 I am going to use a 1.25 oz chatterbait. If I am slow rolling along the shore it’s 1/2 - 3/4
Another banger bro💥💥I have learned a lot from you
Great video man. What trailer is pictured in the video title. That orange color looks like it would produce in the spring.
Fire craw jackhammer, hot craw pit boss, zodias rod, curado reel. Go get em
Great stuff! I just got two of the new red mini max chatterbait and colored the blade permanent black
Yea I am gonna be doing a video on the bait soon. Can’t wait
I use a chatter lure to catch red fish
Just got a 3/4 oz thunder cricket rigged up. Gonna throw it tomorrow in a deep lake.

Do you think a Medium Light fast action is as a good as Medium Heavy Moderate action?
I hear both it’s confusing

Both…the more it gets in tbe grass the harder you have to rip to clear it from the grass usually. But I really like to get that thing yo yoing
@@BassFishingHQ thanks dawg...yeah I've just heard other anglers say what u been saying and was wondering if they are talking like really getting the jack hammer jackhammerin where it's really vibrating when yanked.
