We moved to Ozark MO and are looking for replacement windows. Most of the house has casement. I've received quotes from 4 window companies and of those only window world will do a complete tear out where the others would do a pocket installation. WW are their 4000 series. I feel like there are not many choices. We are looking for black exterior. 26k was their number and in line with the others. What is your opinion before I throw my hands in the air and write a check? Love your channel and truly appreciate the education you provide. I learned so much so far. ---Frustrated in Ozark
I think that you should avoid Window world if at all possible. If four other companies say it needs to be a pocket install, that might be what you need. Perhaps there's a confusion between a pocket install and jumping the frame. You do not want someone who jumps the frame. But, a pocket install would be okay if you have existing wood windows. Do you have wood windows?
@@HoustonWindowExperts We have an all brick house with aluminum clad wood windows made by Hurd. We were told they would cut out the windows from their existing frame and set new ones in rather than a complete tear out. WW said they would do a complete tear out to the brick. For what we are being quoted I hear WW and most of those other large national window companies (Aside from Renewal by Anderson) seem to be builder grade. From your education, we had Champion come out and quote us 101k and offer their 40% off price of 59k. Their windows had great heat reflection with their hot lamp test but you could tell the glass was so dark it would make out home feel like a cave. One of our complaints is we need more light in the house! Again, thank you for the education! We stayed up 2 hours into the night going through a bunch of your awesome videos. You know, alot of what you teach goes way beyond just windows and can be applied to many aspects of being sold on things in life.
I’m thankful I live in San Diego!!!! We really don’t have to worry too much about this. It seldom get too cold or too hot for us to concern ourselves with this. To us, a window is something you open when it get warm and something that we can look out of when it’s cool.
They have different manufacturers make their products for different locations across the country. It would be hard to know for sure who made this window.
How did cheaper window fail after 9 years? Omg this window thing is getting too complicated. I don’t even want to attempt to buy new windows. In the south when it gets real hot, we close our blinds and shutters. Problem solved.
I live in the south and when it gets hot or cold, closing my old aluminum windows doesn't do much because so much heat and cold get through them. Blinds aren't going to make much of a difference. Last winter I cut and taped multiple layers of foam floor underlayment together and taped it over several of my windows to keep the cold out. I still had a $300+ electric bill.
Great video. Jeff! EDTM makes the best toys, but you make the best analogies!
Hahaha... Thanks for your observations!

That’s why we go with Anlin or Western! Right Jeff? Lol With a great installer can’t go wrong
You are correct

Where do I sign?!? I'm Sold and I don't even need Windows. Very good info and the way you presented it. Thank You.
Would the Windsor window qualify for CA's Title 24, where all windows and sliders have to be Low-E Three?
If you order it that way, it will. You just need to specify that when placing your order.
Time stamp 1:23, Lowe's and MI Windows. Nothing more to say....lol.
Amén!
Are MI good replacement windows?
I hate them. In my opinion, they are one if the worst window brands.
@@HoustonWindowExperts Thank you
I would be leery of anything from a big box store! Or if the company only offers one kind of window.
What Company made the "Bad Window" ?
Who installed it ?
Thank you Jeff.

Wasnt Lowes brand also Better Bilt? I have a houseful of them about 20 years old - junk. looks fine perform crappy.

This window specifically was an MI window from 2011.

Yes, it can be complicated. That's the reason I created this channel to educate people.
