- My latest build the Sega Saturn Xu4 Classic Edition. Powered by the Odroid Xu4 single board computer using a beta ORA retropie image with a Yabause/Yaba Sanshiro emulator for the Sega Saturn.

sadly..i have a functional dreamcast...and i would still probably buy a mini dreamcast. i had more fun with that system than in 15 yrs of NES/SNES...

I'd buy them both. The Saturn mini would be awesome if it was made semi portable e.g. Connectable to laptops and tablets as so you can play it on the go, namely in places that may not have a TV.
Also I never got to experience either the Saturn or Dreamcast and I want them both, mini or original. So far I've had to make do with emulators and only my Dreamcast emulator works. I've tried daemon tools with SSF but it didn't load the iso files I mounted.

Mackenzie Peters exactly. The fact they still produce game consoles, and are the only ones to do for so long keeps them relevant, keeps them in people’s minds.
Because Sega have'nt made shit,in emulation it is inevitably worse.

Regarding the 32x i agree that it was pointless since the saturn was coming out in a year...but apparently sega of japan wasnt playing nice with sega of america...or maybe it was the other way around...they couldnt agree on where to go with the sega brand....sega of america wanted to continue with full support for the genesis and they tried to keep it relevent by releasing new hardware add ons like the sega cd and the 32x....they figured why stop supporting a system that has been so successful? Not only that but they had millions of genesis owners that would buy anything new for the sega genesis...meanwhile sega of japan was not happy with the continued support for the genesis, they wanted to end the genesis generation on a good note and focus all thier resources on the next generation sega console aka Sega Saturn.....eventually sega of japan agreed with sega of america to continue genesis support by giving the OK to release the 32x.....but in reality, sega of japan was already working on the saturn....and sega of america had no clue, they were actually investing big time in marketing to promote the 32x....little did they know that sega of japan was secretly planning to ruin the 32x by releasing news of the next generation console(saturn) just weeks after the 32x was released......so as you can imagine new 32x owners were pist off to hear a new sega console was coming out in less then a year.....and sega of america was left hurting, wondering what the hell happen...
@Mackenzie Peters I have an original immaculate boxed 'Samba Di Amigo' with marracas, was only used maybe three times, it was very hard to get hold of here in UK, you want to buy it ?
To this day the Dreamcast is still my favorite console ever made

This is really something. Saturn emu has never been doin so well ! Its beean around 20 years since I last time played the Saturn, and I cant wait to play some of this games again ! I think I have to get myself the Odroid soon. Thank you for tumhe video about the build !

*Also, Saturn is easily among my favorite consoles of all time, so many hidden gems only available on that system.
I always though just the look of the Saturn and Dreamcast was much more classy than the consoles at the time.

yea I was originally going to make a black us model but changed my mind before painting it and decided to go with the japan white model it has nice colors that make it much more pleasing to the eye.

I love it, Back in December of 94 I drove three hundred plus miles to purchase a play station with the flu only too find them sold out, So I bought a Saturn and never regretted it. I remember that holiday well recovering in front of the tv. lol

The Saturn is arguably their best system. The cost of entry is steep but if you can get a Saturn with a mod-chip and an action replay cart, you will be blown away by how many great exclusives there are. The Saturn in S-Video looks amazing too. The games that take advantage of it's hardware have such a unique look to them. It's a shame it couldn't have been more successful.

But apparently SEGA of America said that it wouldn't be worth the price increase since the Saturn wasn't relevant enough to make it a selling point.

I had a Saturn, i loved the hell out of it, but i lost the connectors to my TV and power cable so it just sits in my house doing nothing
Awesome mini Saturn build! It’s good to know Saturn emulation has improved so much. The PlayStation might to 3D better but the Saturn (in the right hands) far outshines with 2D game. They are far more colourful and faster, especially for a shoot em up Addict like me :)

This needs to be made and home brew games need to be made. I really liked my Saturn and it’s quirks graphically it was unique from anything before after or during. So yes I’d like to see some new games made for it also I’d like to see the games running smoother at a higher res and if only sega got in on this and put some real man hours into it I could easily see this selling for 150 dollars if it ran all of segas consoles.

Really wish that Sega would official make something like this. There is so many great Saturn games I would love to play, but they are just so expensive to afford, especially Panzer Dragoon Saga. I bet if they created this with an excellent library of games, they would sell really well. I just hope they make enough of them and not make them in a too limited amount. Of course some games we would like to see or I would like to see on it would be Panzer Dragoon Saga, Burning Rangers, Shining Force 3, Dragon Force and all sorts of the best games for the Saturn and other RPG games.

The saturn was capable of 3D graphics
The Saturn could definitely do 3D, but it could crush 2D. 2D games just weren't en vogue like the music group En Vogue.
I love it when a Saturn game exploits both. Sonic Mania isn't on Saturn, but it was designed specially to be the spitting image of a 2D Sonic game designed for it. 3D Flickies Island is the closest we have on the actual console, though I use the PC version which is similar but slightly not as good as it's missing the Saturn's special effects.

I must have this. I have a sega Saturn console that can play Japanese imports. But nowadays you have to find special adaptors to hook up with the old school av wires.
I also have emulation for the Sega Saturn the problem with this I constantly have to search for correct bios and a lot of times the Yabusune emulator will crash on me. There is also a problem with trying to add more memory to save a file. I can't tell you how many times i couldn't play some of my favorite jrpgs because my memory card is full.
I think playing on one these mini Saturn consoles will save the frustration on having to play your favorite games. Its neat and organized.
