I used to have a 2008 Corolla CE with a manual, and always wanted to modify it, but never did unfortunately. Watching your videos makes me wish I would have. Your car is looking great!
@@WillChang used to have the LE myself but traded it in for another car some years back. Hope I had seen your channel then cos would have done some crazy mods on the car 😂😂 especially the turbo
I have 2013 Corolla s slowly modifying it too! Thank you for the vids I’ve learned a lot from you. Also live in Colorado! 🙌🏽 hope to see you out in the streets man!
@6:40 those things went popular on the italikas Like 12 had them after I put them in the front suspensión they helped because fewer motos were coming in for blown out fork gasket.
Hey Will! Thank you for the video. I know it’s been a bit since you posted this… I was wondering why the rear shock you linked doesn’t seem to have the spring seat posted on MWR’s website. Is that just how it looks in the picture and it comes with the spring seat attached to the shock? Thank you again.
Hey Will how are the KYBs holding up after a year? Im about to pull the trigger on some Excel G's for a good price for the XRS with the H&R Race. I noticed the Tein S drop is lower than the H&R race. H&R drop is 2.0" for standard Corolla so I'm assuming about a 1.5-1.75" drop...but I'm sure the H&R spring rates are stiffer. Most say the the Excel G feel quite a bit stiffer so hopefully the springs won't be too underdamped 🤞

For example like the car you just lowered , if I didn’t want a big rear gap like that, would it better just to get coils or is there a way to lowers the rear ones more with springs
I was looking into the 4 point rear strut bar but it's discontinued so I'll have to look around on the used market for one. I will probably install a subframe brace since I have one on my blue Corolla and really like it, possibly the inner fender braces but I don't know how beneficial they actually are, and that's about it. I really like the stock XRS strut bar so I won't be upgrading that one!
I installed it after I installed coilovers, upgraded sway bars, and other braces so I didn't feel much change, but even if it isn't changing much with the handling I still think it looks cool
Man, I installed the same combo on my matrix XRS and i'm having a much softer ride than the stock suspension. I'm also getting a crashing sound from the front right. Not a good time so far. I'll have to review this.
Sorry to hear that! Sounds like the shocks are faulty since you said the ride feels softer than stock, did you buy them from MWR? If so I'd contact them and see how to remedy the issue (refund, new parts, etc.) Hope the issue gets solved soon!
@@RANDY_MAR5H It isn't extremely common for products to come out faulty like this but it does happen and when it does it definitely sucks. Once way to test if the shocks are bad is when they're out of the car to push down on shaft, and if it's very easy to push down and very slow to come back up, or if it doesn't come back up at all then it's no good
@@WillChang I'm pretty sure the problem I am having is that when the shocks are unsprung, mainly the front, the springs are so short that they don't fill the shocks completely. I saw someone had the same issue on grassroots a few years ago. I'm buying some vogtlands that have a much less intense lowering height. I'll update in a couple of weeks.
I'm happy with the ride quality! I can't personally compare with other lowering springs as these are the only ones I've tried. Stiffer than stock, but softer than the coilovers on my '07
I,m gonna be installing megan racing lowering springs on my 03 corolla. I have a question in regards to the rear strut bump stops. Was there no need to trim them or did you trim them off camera?
I left them as is, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to or not when I put these together so I left them alone unless I saw a reason to cut them. So far so good, no issues with the ride or hitting the stops
I think I'll find out if I rub soon, I'm about to swap my tires to 215/45/17 from 205/45/17, may experience some rubbing from the increased diameter but I'll have to see
I imagine they would work without issue, not familiar with the setup of the strut-plus so I'm not sure if lowering springs would shorten their lifespan like with stock shocks
I can’t say fairly yet since I haven’t had enough time to make a full comparison. I’ve always used coilovers before and you can’t really go wrong with them (as long as they’re good quality of course!) I’ll be making a comparison video once I’ve had the time to really experience the lowering springs fully!

pro tip use the jack under the balljoint to apply pressure when removing the nut from the sway bar

King of the Corollas 😂😂😂. Seems you have every version of the 03-08 Corolla that was ever made
Haha true, well I've got the 2 versions I wanted with the 1zz and 2zz! Now I've gotta get into modding the Matrixes lol

love to see your every super enjoyfull corolla modification n customization , nice swwet jdm corolla 😍🥰🤩😎💙🤙👌

Much appreciated 🙏🏼
Nice video,I've installed TRD lowering spring with KYB struts on my Corolla many years ago like the way it looks and feels.
Thank you! How much do the TRD springs lower the car?
@@WillChang approx.3/4 inch front and 1 inch rear. The rides improves a lot, more rigid.
Very nice upgrades for the Toyota Corolla XRS lowering struts when you drive your car you have a Smoove or ride Thumbs up on your video bro
Thanks for the kind words!

Go to Antigua you will find a good technician there
Bad ass video , how much does the front and rear drop with the springs?
Thanks! I didn't measure personally, but the product description on MWR says the front should be lowered by 2.3in, and the rear by 2.4in
Looking good brotha!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
amazing did the same thing on my rolla driving exp is amazing
For sure, handles much better now!
Link to black lug nuts? Unless they are oem, for what car?

Does that shift knob sit higher than the oem one? I have the mwr short shifter too and I don't wanna add height but love that knob
Nope, no height added! If anything, I think it sits slightly lower than the stock one
what size tires you have for this setup
How do you think these lowering springs would do with KYB strut-plus?
I imagine they would work without issue, not familiar with the setup of the strut-plus so I'm not sure if lowering springs would shorten their lifespan like with stock shocks
The shock use in the strut plus is a Excel G shock just comes with the top hat and spring. So it handles lowering good just like the Excel G
Would you reccomend doing this or just buying coilovers ?

What is the brown rubber thing that goes onto the springs for?
Also wanted to know what size tire u have.
To be honest I don’t know, they were there when I received the springs and so I left them on
My tires are size 215/50/R17!
