    When you clocked the turbo or installed it, it could have tweaked the actuator preload, normally how Ive set them is wind in the rod till the hole is offcenter from the pin by 5-7mm. This equated for me close to 6-7psi.

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That probably is what happened, I'll get around to fixing the preload soon!

    your boost issue can also be from your wastegate preload. i just watched your install video and it looks like you didnt put any preload on it. i would go back and check that. usually you want the hole to line up with the wastegate and before installing it you want to screw it in about 2 to 3 turns inward making the arm shorter. you should have to pull the arm out and slide it on the pin. the extra tension should help with the door staying closed while it builds boost. there are a bunch of videos on how to set wastegate preload. you may not even need the manual boost controller after correctly setting the preload. good luck and great job!

      Yep this is my issue, I need to go back and set preload. I'll probably keep the MBC on there since I have it but I'll just have it turned all the way down so the wastegate does everything. Thank you!

    @kevinstiddam8789 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you flipped ur wastegate on ur turbo u loosen up the threaded rod ur wastegate spring pressure to connected it back when you turn that threaded rod out u are taking boost away turn the in increase the boost u don't need that boost controller u just need to adjust the internal wastegate once u loosen that nut take the e clip off the dump flap then turn the rod inward one full turn equals 1psi take a permanent marker while wastegate rod still hooked to the dump flap mark the top so u can indicate one full turn once u reached ur desired boost take a pair of pliers pull the rod to connect the rod back to the dump flap door then lock the nut back down and ur set

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's about 480sqft, a bit similar sized to a 2 car garage! Make sure when you're looking for a unit that they allow you to work on cars in them! Up until now I haven't got any complaints about working on cars, definitely better here than in the parking lot of my apartment! And no my LE doesn't have abs but my XRS does

  • @LaTeamPrep
    @LaTeamPrep 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Nice journey! I'm seeing this video 2 years too late, but in the installation video, when you changed the waste gate nipple orientation, you mounted the waste gate rode with no tension, because you unscrewed the tension screw! What happens is the exhaust pressure is fighting the gate and has probably a leak! Pressure regulator helped, but might have fixed this by now ! Nice build by the way!

  • @redbeardedpanda
    @redbeardedpanda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Nice work. Looks like you need to set "base boost" by adjusting your waste gate arm. If you are making 1 psi your base boost is set to 1 psi. Shortening the length of the wg arm will increase the base boost pressure. WG should not open until you have reached the desired pressure or you may have turbo lag and strange turbo behavior. Keep up the good work!

    • @WillChang

    • @scottweber5964
      @scottweber5964 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WillChang you should only use the boost controller to fine tune your boost levels, getting the tune setup with a possibly malfunctioning wastegate is going to give you more headaches in the long run as you won’t have a good running baseline. Loved the turbo installation video. The intercooler looks so good 👍. I have a 2007 corolla that I am giving to my 15 year old son it will be his first car , and I bought the Corolla when he was born because I had a motorcycle and an El Camino and had no room for a Baby so I sold my bike and got the corolla, it only has 125k Miles if you open the hood still looks new only issue the sun baked the paint off like most corollas 😆.
    I purchased a se corolla in 2020 and have done some mods, but nothing major . My son and I together did it, and it sparked a love for cars for him ! Now he is all into cars . we will do some work on his corolla , starting with spoilers, exhaust , and some beats , I got the rims already 😆, little by little .
    Thank you he saw your video and is all pumped up now. We subbed and liked your videos .. we had a huge smile on our faces watching you do your first test runs .. awesome ..
    By the way, I am teaching him how to drive, and this will be his starter car. Who knows, maybe I'll give him my corolla once he's gotten more experience.
