It’s really surreal to see Porter confront his success so openly like this. This song is so vulnerable, literally asking himself how it felt to have a masterpiece album and everything he wanted but still feeling broken. I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to reach that peak but to be unfulfilled. Then realizing after all this time that making music isn’t about the creator, but about the listener, it’s about sharing your work with the world. Not having them love you or idolize you, but to bring others happiness. Really excited for this album. Thanks Porter!

FINALLY WE’RE HERE! Every one of these moments has been so monumental! As a fellow producer/listener of electronic music, I can’t help but come back to his music time and time again to listen to everything he’s put out, and I am still blown away and completely inspired after all these years.

Porter Robinson has changed my life 6 years ago when I heard his Worlds album. And now, he’s gonna change my life again this year. I really can’t wait man.
His music basically saved my life as a Sophomore in High School, if it weren't for Worlds, I'd either be dead by my own hand, or a totally different person. It completely changed my perspective on life. I can't imagine my life without Worlds. Seeing this news yesterday, I immediately started crying. I'm now 21 and he's releasing the album the year I get married. It couldn't be more perfect.

Porter also changed my life for the better. His Shelter album inspired me to pick up writing as a hobby as well as a gateway to both EDM and anime, two things I love deeply now. Inflexuhty he literally said in an interview that’ the main idea behind worlds is the world within each one of us. The rest of the “story” is up for the individual to interpret. “Every place you've ever imagined, it's real. There is a fictional city in your mind, and you know every corner of it. Your mind is a world. Each one of us is a place.” There’s really no other way to interpret that honestly.

This is beautiful. Where Worlds was Porter building a universe for us, nurture is gonna be an introspective deep-dive into the aftermath of what comes with the success of such an accomplishment, and the pressure and expectation to create more. I feel incredibly appreciative about how vulnerable and honest Porter is as an artist.
The fact that Porter said in his most recent live that, even after the Nurture release, he's still clueless about life and didn't knew wtf was going on made me feel like... Happy? I mean, our lifes won't change automatically thanks to an album, so Why would his? Porter's songs never sound unoriginal or repetitive. This song has so many beautiful instruments and sounds. Very uplifting and motivating song (kinda feels cliche to call music motivational but that's what I feel). And personally some of this song's elements make this song sound a bit nostalgic. Another great song from Porter Robinson. I don't know anything about creating music and probably never will but my ears don't lie. Btw. I hope he will someday have a concert in Finland.

It's funny because he used to be on this music production forum that I was on. He made this electro trance back then and I would listen to him and madeon's music and just produce all day when I was 16.
Just want to say whoever wrote the Chinese translation of the lyrics deserves a medal. It not only retains Porter’s original idea, but reads like poetry. That is not an easy feat. Edit: This is referring to the simplified version, the traditional Chinese lyrics is more of a literal translation of the song.

It’s been 6 years since Worlds, and 4 years since Shelter (to this day my favorite song and one that I’ve never gotten bored of). Finally the legend returns. So excited to listen to this masterpiece. Thank you Porter Robinson, you’re a true inspiration.
I heard this song after I graduated from college. Unfortunately me and my group mates from our thesis, who are also my good friends, were late and we never made it to our graduation ceremony. The 4 of us were somewhat lazy but we procrastinate a lot. Despite the odds we never gave up no matter how long it took. Lots of rewriting the papers, having to get ourselves roasted by our Thesis Panels and our Thesis teacher, we were on the verge of wanting to stop but our leader reminded us that we came so far. So after a lot of talking to our adviser, all that stuff I mentioned and pur final defense, in technicality, we are finally graduates. Though we didn't step on stage ceremoniously, but it was good to know thay it was all over. Then I heard this song with the lyrics "Don't say you lose just yet, get up and move ahead and not only for yourself." 4 lazy, procrastinating college students manage to graduate despite not being able to step on stage, ceremoniously receiving a piece of paper. That's alright, majority of us do hate ceremonies like that anyway, and, looking at the bright side, we didn't spend anything for the ceremony. But, really, it's that feeling of freedom that we got and this song emphasizes that feeling and it keeps my feet on the ground in a way. Reminding me that achievements will only take me so far. I need to hop off that horse and walk with my own feet. What I do with those steps ahead will always remain a mystery.
I remember when Madeon's Good Faith came out and everyone was asking if Porter Robinson was also gonna make a comeback. I'm so glad that both of my favorite artists are back and are producing music that's straight from the heart. It's gonna be hard to top Worlds, but seeing how this song is an ABSOLUTE BANGER, I have faith in Porter. Good Faith was an amazing album and a damn good comeback for Madeon. I really love this line: “The work that stirred your soul, you can make for someone else” It’s actually pretty close to my philosophy of what I want to achieve when writing my own music. If Porter ever reads this, he should know that his work does just that for me, and I’m sure for many others. One of the things I love about Porter's songwriting on this track is how its themes and message extend beyond the struggles of being a creative. The feelings Porter conveys here are universal. To a certain extent, everybody who has experienced some degree of success - whether that's defined externally in societal, material terms or internally through emotional fulfillment or a sense of self-actualization - reaches a point where they feel inadequate or inferior to their past self. Struggling to reconcile who you are today with who you have been is difficult and often depressing. We have to love ourselves enough to not let our insecurities rule our lives. We have to "get up and move ahead" and ultimately realize that achieving success or acclaim isn't the point of our lives; it's to share our passions and finite time with the people we care about.

Being like, "you got what you wanted, fame and popularity and recognition, you "floated up and walked on water", is this what you wanted? Why are you still broken up?"
True, "Look at the Sky" has some of the best lyrics I've ever read from any "pop" song, like to the point where the rest of the song isn't really able to hold up to it.

When I first clicked on the video, I made a mistake. I had expectations about what Porter's new song would sound like, built up from how good his past music has been. So when I watched the video, and listened to the music, I only thought of it in terms of how catchy it was, and how asthetically pleasing it was. At first, I wasn't impressed. But then I went back. I read some comments, I turned captions on, and listened for what porter trying to say. It was a totally different experience. I think a big mistake that we make, especially on the internet, is that we assume we can find something special without looking. By hoping our entire feed is quality content, we remove the meaning of quality content, because what makes something quality is our ability to connect to it beyond just some other thing. Porter makes stuff that you have to try to connect to, and that's when it gains beauty. When I viewed the song through the lens of his sincerity, it instantly became a much better song in every way. Hope that made any sense.
I was like that with Shelter- shelter gained new meaning when major life events occurred right around when I was listening to it, and it means a lot to me. Still cry when I hear it. I don’t blame you for having that mindset, and it’s an interesting observation you’ve made there. And the more I listen to Get Your Wish, the better it sounds- just like a good, quality book.

Was having a bad day tbh and in a depressed mood. A good friend suggested this saying it might help a little. Played the song but was like not at all enjoying at the start (mostly because of the mood) at the starting 20 seconds and then it picked up the tempo, i understood the lyrics little by little, started vibing to it a bit. 2:45 i was smiling a little and the music literally moving my body to the beats. Then i read Porter Robinsons twitter and played this song again and like really could feel the emotions he wanted to portray. Felt a lot better to be honest. This song makes me cry my eyes out. My mom has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and and my only wish is for her to get better as soon as possible so everything can go back to the way it was. This is the only wish I really want to come true. EDIT: Thank you everyone for your love and support. It really meant a lot during these dark times. She only has a few days left and it just breaks my heart to hear this happening. I know she will find peace, love and happiness. I know in the end it will always be ok.

As a musician myself, I can't thank you enough for sharing these words. To be very honest, I've almost quit music myself, and I've become heavily depressed, anxiety, having suicidal thoughts quite often, and even to the point of having an existential crisis. Perhaps some of you can also relate: reality is cruel & cold, and it often crushed down our dreams. I can even understand now why there are people who are depressed & suicidal in this life. But it's really, really rare indeed, when a popular artist/musician's words really touch you deeply, when you need the most. I'm glad that at least, these words have somewhat just sparked even just a tiny little bit of motivation, hope, and most importantly perhaps, speaks deeply into my soul, which have been so weary, and to be very honest, almost giving up on life too. Porter struck again with that real emotion right there. Whereas the previous of his works I felt were more whimsical this one is euphoric in its own way. You don’t see a lot of people describe their struggle during the whole music process. And I can’t imagine when you attain such a degree of success but still feeling unfulfilled and still feeling like craters open in your chest. And this song describes that feeling perfectly it describes the frustration the wonder in it perfectly. And then realising that the same love you had for a certain routine can still make you happy. It’s not just for yourself it’s for others too. At the end of the day I can’t even put my thoughts into words but Porter’s music never fails to do that.

Porter’s sound is always ingenious but I love how cleverly written the lyrics are. The hook stayed the same throughout the song yet it brings two different meanings because of the verse before it. In the 1st verse, the hook basically says ‘All of the work you’ve done and you’re still not satisfied; maybe you should look outwards and reflect on what’s important to you’. Whereas in the 2nd verse, it means ‘All the hardships you went through and you still preserved; how sweet does that success taste like?’ I got chills the first time listening to this track but when I finally gave it a proper listen is when it really stuck. The song makes the most sense for a creative but really a lot of people can resonate with it and that’s what makes this song even more special to me.

When Worlds came out, it consumed my life entirely. I would listen to it on loop for hours on end and couldn't get enough of it. This song just brought back all those emotions and managed to make me feel both nostalgic but happy and hopeful. Thank you for this single and the upcoming album. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

this song hits me really hard, my mom and i are both mentally ill and she doesnt have anyone else but me to hold on to. shes tried dating people for years but she has never found a solid relationship. shes survived breast cancer, so i know that she is a survivor and is capable of so much. and im just a 16 year old who sits in their room doing nothing everyday. i really need to figure out what the meaning of my life is, but it is so hard to get up and do something when im unmotivated and scared of reality. i have tried many kinds of hobbies, but i can never find one that is solidarity. i really need to find my own creative expression to be happy with myself but whenever that day comes, i'll make sure that this song is in the back of my mind.
It's okay to feel that way, i have 24 yo and still feel what you're feeling, but don't be afraid of life, it's too short to worry about it, try everything you want/can, and then one day you'll figure out, all you need is time. I am in my 30s and even though things are really hard for me due to medical and mental issues they do get better... This song makes me so happy right now... I've been kinda depressed lately and i didn't even know why. I mean, my studies are going well, my grades are good, and i work in a volunteering based association that helps me develop my skills... I have no problems at all and that was the point. I could not find the time to express myself, to enjoy little things and to solve/ complete non-important things. I don't have the time to meet my friends, bc i'm spending my life in libraries or filling endless excel tables that make no sense for me. And this song, like art in general, makes me think outside of my everyday-life-box. Music is not VITAL, music does not help me pass my exams and get a good job. This hit me so much harder than it ever has. I used to know you a while back, you were within my circle of friends and we all just put out song after song after song. I -from a distance- got to see you blossom into this wonderful artist you have become and I am so proud of you for all of the endeavors you have made. This song reminds me of so much of the younger years of producing and how effortless-yet simple it was. We didn't worry about much other than making good music. But he was always very nice, i doubt he remembers me but it was him, my buddy T2Kazuya, and a friend of mine by the name of Dan, i met him through T2Kazuya i believe (it was so long ago so its a bit hard to remember). At the time he was making what was called hands up! and hard dance stuff (like Cascada, Tune Up! and Alex Megane type stuff) and I wasnt super into that stuff at the time. I was into happy hardcore. But every interaction with him was really chill. He was helpful and just very sweet. So I have nothing bad ever to say about him, just super proud that he got the recognition he deserved, and im super glad to see him staying true to himself because man making it or not, you lose sight of yourself a lot on this journey of making music. i cannot tell you how many times i've lost myself and fallen, but I always got back up. Its great to see this subject to just.. out in the open

It’s really surreal to see Porter confront his success so openly like this. This song is so vulnerable, literally asking himself how it felt to have a masterpiece album and everything he wanted but still feeling broken. I can’t imagine what it must’ve been like to reach that peak but to be unfulfilled. Then realizing after all this time that making music isn’t about the creator, but about the listener, it’s about sharing your work with the world. Porter Robinson has changed my life 6 years ago when I heard his Worlds album. And now, he’s gonna change my life again this year. I really can’t wait man.
His music basically saved my life as a Sophomore in High School, if it weren't for Worlds, I'd either be dead by my own hand, or a totally different person. It completely changed my perspective on life. I can't imagine my life without Worlds. Seeing this news yesterday, I immediately started crying. I'm now 21 and he's releasing the album the year I get married. It couldn't be more perfect.

Porter's songs never sound unoriginal or repetitive. This song has so many beautiful instruments and sounds. Very uplifting and motivating song (kinda feels cliche to call music motivational but that's what I feel). And personally some of this song's elements make this song sound a bit nostalgic.

It’s been 6 years since Worlds, and 4 years since Shelter (to this day my favorite song and one that I’ve never gotten bored of). Finally the legend returns. So excited to listen to this masterpiece. Thank you Porter Robinson, you’re a true inspiration.
I heard this song after I graduated from college. Unfortunately me and my group mates from our thesis, who are also my good friends, were late and we never made it to our graduation ceremony. The 4 of us were somewhat lazy but we procrastinate a lot. Despite the odds we never gave up no matter how long it took. Lots of rewriting the papers, having to get ourselves roasted by our Thesis Panels and our Thesis teacher, we were on the verge of wanting to stop but our leader reminded us that we came so far. So after a lot of talking to our adviser, all that stuff I mentioned and pur final defense, in technicality, we are finally graduates. Though we didn't step on stage ceremoniously, but it was good to know thay it was all over.
Then I heard this song with the lyrics "Don't say you lose just yet, get up and move ahead and not only for yourself." 4 lazy, procrastinating college students manage to graduate despite not being able to step on stage, ceremoniously receiving a piece of paper. That's alright, majority of us do hate ceremonies like that anyway, and, looking at the bright side, we didn't spend anything for the ceremony. But, really, it's that feeling of freedom that we got and this song emphasizes that feeling and it keeps my feet on the ground in a way. Reminding me that achievements will only take me so far. I need to hop off that horse and walk with my own feet. What I do with those steps ahead will always remain a mystery.

There are very few artists who’s music hits me the way Porter Robinson’s does.
One of the things I love about Porter's songwriting on this track is how its themes and message extend beyond the struggles of being a creative. The feelings Porter conveys here are universal. To a certain extent, everybody who has experienced some degree of success - whether that's defined externally in societal, material terms or internally through emotional fulfillment or a sense of self-actualization - reaches a point where they feel inadequate or inferior to their past self. Struggling to reconcile who you are today with who you have been is difficult and often depressing. We have to love ourselves enough to not let our insecurities rule our lives. We have to "get up and move ahead" and ultimately realize that achieving success or acclaim isn't the point of our lives; it's to share our passions and finite time with the people we care about.

When I first clicked on the video, I made a mistake. I had expectations about what Porter's new song would sound like, built up from how good his past music has been. So when I watched the video, and listened to the music, I only thought of it in terms of how catchy it was, and how asthetically pleasing it was. At first, I wasn't impressed.
But then I went back. I read some comments, I turned captions on, and listened for what porter trying to say. It was a totally different experience.
I think a big mistake that we make, especially on the internet, is that we assume we can find something special without looking. By hoping our entire feed is quality content, we remove the meaning of quality content, because what makes something quality is our ability to connect to it beyond just some other thing.
Porter makes stuff that you have to try to connect to, and that's when it gains beauty. When I viewed the song through the lens of his sincerity, it instantly became a much better song in every way.

Played the song but was like not at all enjoying at the start (mostly because of the mood) at the starting 20 seconds and then it picked up the tempo, i understood the lyrics little by little, started vibing to it a bit.
2:45 i was smiling a little and the music literally moving my body to the beats.
Then i read Porter Robinsons twitter and played this song again and like really could feel the emotions he wanted to portray.
Felt a lot better to be honest. Some rare moments like this really gives you some little but beautiful & meaningful insights about life.

My mom has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and and my only wish is for her to get better as soon as possible so everything can go back to the way it was. This is the only wish I really want to come true.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for your love and support. It really meant a lot during these dark times. She only has a few days left and it just breaks my heart to hear this happening. I know she will find peace, love and happiness. I know in the end it will always be ok.

There are not many artists that deliver this kind of energy and feeling. This song is truly a masterpiece.
As a musician myself, I can't thank you enough for sharing these words. To be very honest, I've almost quit music myself, and I've become heavily depressed, anxiety, having suicidal thoughts quite often, and even to the point of having an existential crisis. Perhaps some of you can also relate: reality is cruel & cold, and it often crushed down our dreams. I can even understand now why there are people who are depressed & suicidal in this life.
But it's really, really rare indeed, when a popular artist/musician's words really touch you deeply, when you need the most. I'm glad that at least, these words have somewhat just sparked even just a tiny little bit of motivation, hope, and most importantly perhaps, speaks deeply into my soul, which have been so weary, and to be very honest, almost giving up on life too.
Again, thank you very much for sharing this. January turned out to be just another depressing failure for me personally, but just as I feel hopeless, hopefully, after reading & soaking in these words, this month of February will be the real new start of something better for me (and also for anyone who's currently also struggling with depression & harsh reality).

What I understood is that the song talks about the emptiness we feel after getting something we wanted so badly
Porter struck again with that real emotion right there. Whereas the previous of his works I felt were more whimsical this one is euphoric in its own way. You don’t see a lot of people describe their struggle during the whole music process. And I can’t imagine when you attain such a degree of success but still feeling unfulfilled and still feeling like craters open in your chest. And this song describes that feeling perfectly it describes the frustration the wonder in it perfectly. And then realising that the same love you had for a certain routine can still make you happy. It’s not just for yourself it’s for others too. At the end of the day I can’t even put my thoughts into words but Porter’s music never fails to do that.

Porter’s sound is always ingenious but I love how cleverly written the lyrics are.
The hook stayed the same throughout the song yet it brings two different meanings because of the verse before it. In the 1st verse, the hook basically says ‘All of the work you’ve done and you’re still not satisfied; maybe you should look outwards and reflect on what’s important to you’. Whereas in the 2nd verse, it means ‘All the hardships you went through and you still preserved; how sweet does that success taste like?’
I got chills the first time listening to this track but when I finally gave it a proper listen is when it really stuck. The song makes the most sense for a creative but really a lot of people can resonate with it and that’s what makes this song even more special to me.
I'm going to enjoy this album without comparing it to his worlds album. I bet he made something new for me to enjoy. Thank you.

this song hits me really hard, my mom and i are both mentally ill and she doesnt have anyone else but me to hold on to. shes tried dating people for years but she has never found a solid relationship. shes survived breast cancer, so i know that she is a survivor and is capable of so much. and im just a 16 year old who sits in their room doing nothing everyday. i really need to figure out what the meaning of my life is, but it is so hard to get up and do something when im unmotivated and scared of reality. i have tried many kinds of hobbies, but i can never find one that is solidarity. i really need to find my own creative expression to be happy with myself but whenever that day comes, i'll make sure that this song is in the back of my mind.

I've been kinda depressed lately and i didn't even know why. I mean, my studies are going well, my grades are good, and i work in a volunteering based association that helps me develop my skills... I have no problems at all and that was the point. I could not find the time to express myself, to enjoy little things and to solve/ complete non-important things. I don't have the time to meet my friends, bc i'm spending my life in libraries or filling endless excel tables that make no sense for me.
And this song, like art in general, makes me think outside of my everyday-life-box. Music is not VITAL, music does not help me pass my exams and get a good job. But he was always very nice, i doubt he remembers me but it was him, my buddy T2Kazuya, and a friend of mine by the name of Dan, i met him through T2Kazuya i believe (it was so long ago so its a bit hard to remember). At the time he was making what was called hands up! and hard dance stuff (like Cascada, Tune Up! and Alex Megane type stuff) and I wasnt super into that stuff at the time. I was into happy hardcore. But every interaction with him was really chill. He was helpful and just very sweet. So I have nothing bad ever to say about him, just super proud that he got the recognition he deserved, and im super glad to see him staying true to himself because man making it or not, you lose sight of yourself a lot on this journey of making music. i cannot tell you how many times i've lost myself and fallen, but I always got back up. Its great to see this subject to just.. out in the open
