Nice little bike and another really good video. I was watching this steering a 66ft canal boat on the Ashby Canal . The combination of watching the video and looking to my side and suddenly realising I was passing alongside the Triumph factory at Hinckley made me steer into the bank!

This little bike seems to have all the things that we want in a motorbike. Fun to ride due to its great "chuckability", cheap too buy and run, enough power to put a smile on your face and the ability to do most type of riding scenarios.
I like what the bike has to offer too Andy.

A perfect commuter especially for lady riders(Lighter build) and young, new to adventure riding both male and female. My own experience is that if your are 6" and above you really should get bar risers especially if you stand while dirt riding. My only negative is for rougher dirt riding is the suspension travel on the front could do with more travel.Certainly a fun bike to mess around on,cheers.

  • @monzadh

great video. I have one in the states and looked at the comparative bikes you mentioned. I really wanted a CB500x but there was no inventory within 200miles and dealers were not budging from MSRP and once you add ABS option and hand, sump guards etc, etc the price was well over $1500 more. One thing I do love about the 390 that you didn't mention is the adjustable suspension. I ride both tarmac and bumpy dirt roads and a simple quick adjustment on the fly ( and turn off ABS) is real slick for a $6k USD bike!

@@ekimandersom4478 Honda USA has apparently not gotten that message as some of them don’t come standard with it…maybe now in 2021 but up until recently. I had looked at a NC750X with the manual shift and it did not have ABS…only the DCT automatic trans bike had ABS, which is ridiculous. That said, I had a 2021 CB500X and it did have standard ABS…but did not have hand guards or engine guards like the KTM. I did ride a 390 Adventure before buying the CB…maybe it was just the one I rode but the front end felt like it had a wobble and I couldn’t find neutral to save my life…it was infuriating. I had a BMW F650GS that was like that and always annoyed me, especially in red light to red light traffic.

Another excellent video thanks, I tested one of these at the weekend along with a CRF 250, G 310GS and a Royal Enfield Himalayan, I found that I constantly needed to toggle the gears as anything below 4.5k revs was just disappointing on the 390. I ended up preferring the GS over all of them with the Enfield coming 2nd and the CRF 3rd (though I would go for the CRF any day for green laning). How do you find the 4.5k issue? I was quite disappointed as I didn't feel it would be much good off road which, I assume, as an ADV bike it should be. I'd be really interested in your opinion. Thanks for all your great vids.

My last bike before I bought the 390 Duke was the Aprilia Shiver 750. Both were/are fun to ride but because I live in British Columbia we get absolutely abused with our vehicle insurance so I had to sell it. After owning the Duke for 2 years I've had zero regret. Coming from the shiver I thought am I buying a toy? Nope. It's been incredible.

TBH quite like the styling (even though some might find it in the 'only its mother would love it'-territory), but KTM certainly have a unique look that carries across their entire range.
But the biggest appeal would be its kerb weight... certainly when comparing it to my Bulldog weighing in 100kg more, always dread having to scoot that about :D
Quite suprised about the comfort though, might just be what I'm used to but it does look like there's nothing holding you in your seat when you look at the tank's slope. I'd be wary of hitting the brakes too hard and yeeting myself over the front of it, hehe.

Agree with your top 5. Really enjoy mine as a second bike. Not generally a fan of the KTM look but these are less extreme looking and prefer it in the white with less orange. You can't ignore the spec, price and grins per mile. As I contemplate the freshly plastered cast on my left arm, after taking the 390 on a dirt road, on stock tires, I would like to add that this bike seems like a brilliant commuter. Right before I ploughed my NXR helmet into a dirt berm, while my head was still in it, I concluded that she's a very good road bike. Although that does not bother me much, she's very tall! At 5'5'', I almost have to grow my left toenail just to get a part of my body on the ground. For reference, my daily rider is a 125 Duke; my weekend rider is a 1290 Super Duke R.

Good morning Andy. Just been watching your latest blog, on the 5 things I like about the KTM. One thing I have noticed, is that you have not done anything about the adverts on your channel. I was watching the Brit a blonde a bike, and he has made the effort, to remove the adverts from his vides. The one thing I loved, about watching TH-cam, was no adverts. But sadly we do have, too put up with them on your video. Other than that you, do make a good vlog. Keep safe, and ride well.

Yes Andy sadly a reality of our times - unlike "A Brit a Blonde and a Bike" I make a large part of my living from TH-cam so have to enable adverts, sadly I have no say over how many, where and when TH-cam choose to serve them. I wonder if people write in to ITV to complain about adverts around the free programmes we watch of theirs? All the best - Andy.

LOL, The KTM 390 ADVENTURE preformed flawlessly. It’s not an enduro for single track , it’s not a dual sport for dual sport riding, It is absolutely a ADVENTURE BIKE. 5500 miles later it brought me home with a smile on my face, having proven itself to me that I absolutely made the right decision to give KTM a chance and buy one. I also own a CRF450L that requires 600 mile oil change, Not the bike for adventure ride for me, but it is a great desert or single bike. My first choice has always been Honda . When KTM came out with the 390 adv it checked all the boxes on my list I bought the first one my dealer got in. Yes I took a chance . It’s a great ADVENTURE BIKE. I WILL NEVER BUY FAT GIRLS again. @jonpram1737 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah I was really interested in it when it was announced, but compared to the duke they’ve put a hefty markup on this here. I suspect because of how well adv and dirt bikes sell due to our roads and trails it’s little more than a ‘because they can’ price - both KTM dealers near me had waiting lists. For me though it should really be 8k, a lot of them are going for much closer to 10 and that’s a hard pass for me.
I’m still on lams for a couple of years, and don’t really mind taking a little hit on depreciation with a couple of years of fun, but with the 490 adventure due out in about 18 months or so, I reckon I’d be taking too big a hit to really justify getting one at 10 grand lol.
Still weighing up a 500x. I have the 500f now and I think the x might address the shortcomings I have with it & be a better tourer ... although it’s heavier again (I think the KTM is really about 170 wet whilst the 500x is 200). That said I’ve ridden a mate’s duke and it is a much more fun engine than the Honda 500 lol.
