"Dear Lettermen and Letterwomen,
I’d like to request the clip where Dave got a call from John McCain saying he had to cancel his appearance on Late Show because the economy was “cratering” only for Dave to find out McCain made several other interviews instead. I have found the clip online, but it was uploaded when it happened in September 2008 and is in very poor audio and video quality. I’d be very grateful if you could remaster it and post it online.

This moment was literally influential in the outcome of the election. McCain/Palin dropped like a stone into the ocean after this drubbing from the King of Late Night tv. The Road to the White House absolutely ran through the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

Eh, it was the economic crash that did it. People forget that McCain was within the margin of error with Obama all summer until the great cratering. People blamed the party in power, as they do, and that was the end of it.

This clip was a great reminder how influential comedy can be during an election. It was also a reminder of simpler times. Sigh. I really miss those days
McCain's one was one of the best of Dave's bits. Now we need some of the Sarah Palin jokes. Who doesn't remember the "gotcha" and "killing mooses" jokes? lol
If you're gonna do politics on a late night talk show, do it like Dave.

Whether you agreed with his politics or not, John McCain appeared to be a great American who represented our country well, and sincerely cared about our country. If it hadn’t been for his poor choice of running mate I believe he would have won his election. Wish we had more people like him to run for President now.

He raised a monster. Just because he did a few great things doesnt mean he didnt consistently vote against solid legislation to help the little guys, consistently. It took his last few years for it all to catch up and thumbs up terrible faux medicare coverage 🙄

C'mon, who wants to interview with Katie when you have Dave? By picking Sarah Palin, John McCain gave us years of (fill in the blank).
I think the McCain campaign were intimidated by Obama's broad appeal and felt they needed to swing for the fences with their VP pick. They definitely did that. But apparently they didn't vet her properly in their desire to make a big splash. I doubt he ever said it publicly but I feel like as time went on and Palin become more well-known for drama than governing, he probably regretted not going with his first love, Joe Lieberman.

At that point in the campaign, Dave would have grilled McCain, so making VEAL PICCATA on Rachael Ray's show instead made perfect sense.
I guess McCain didn't consider that Dave and Katie Couric were on the same network.
What a disgrace to the office of the presidency! Can presidential candidates get any lower than this? Let’s hope we never have candidates that bad again! /s

Love Dave, can't stand Olbermann
Just a few short months ago, Jon Stewart returned to the Daily Show and his first topic was mocking how our nation thought the best two Presidential options were Trump and Biden. He of course went after the low hanging fruit and mocked Trump, but he also mocked at how Biden was no longer fit to be President due to his mental deterioration . The stooge Olbermann ripped Stewart apart for suggesting such a thing, even trying to surmise that Stewart was Pro-Trump.
I'm curious -- after last night, what does Olbermann think now?
His tweets blame CNN's commentators.
He's a complete idiot. I respected him when he stuck to sports and ESPN, but he became a nutcase when he went into politics.
