I used to do this back in the 90s, but with cash, at Bank of America. What you do is you go to the ATM put some cash in the BoA envelope (or none if you're daring) and input more than what you actually put in. There's a limit to what you can take back out obviously but if you're in a bind and need a couple hundred bucks or so, it worked splendidly. They'd send you a letter and state there was a discrepancy and it needs to be corrected. They can't prove you didn't put the wrong amount by accident so They'd just stress you need to get the funds and fix it. Which I would when I got paid.

Love your story telling style Josh!!! My husband is a criminal defense attorney and we had a young client who stole a lot of stereos from vehicles and got caught with them at his house. He took the cops on a guided tour of the area to show them all the cars he broke in to (mostly ones they didn’t even know about 🤦🏻‍♀️). He came to the office with his grandma because she was going to pay his legal fees, but she didn’t know the whole story. After she read the police report and her grandson said yes he did it. She looked at him and said “you’re an idiot” 😂😂😂 We were soooooo shocked she did that. You know you REALLY screwed up when even grandma doesn’t have your back!

I grew up with food insecurity. Stole a pre-made sandwich and a high end 100% juice smoothie (figured I'd get the healthy stuff lol) at my regular grocery store. Got caught and fined for theft. The most expensive meal I never ate.
So if you are planning on stealing food, and they are onto you or start yelling out at you, cram that food in your gob ASAP. I found out later they threw that sandwich out. It was a tuna on rye. I'll never know how good or bad that sandwich may have been. I slept hungry that night and couldn't stop thinking about it as I fell asleep.
Also, if you're that desperate for food, if I see you in your situation... No I didn't. I'm minding my own damn business.

An easy thing I do is make cheese and spring onion scones, I take them hot into my city and at the main train station offer them to people who are hungry. You've got to bring butter too as that's the best way to enjoy them. They're pretty cheap to make a few batches. Try it, have a chat too. It's sad how many people say that no-one acknowledges them, let alone has a chat with them. You'll meet some really interesting people.
As for the OP, I sincerely hope that life is being kind to you now. Take care mate. From Australia.

Omg Josh!! Grandma aint a snitch - I can’t believe this rings true but let me tell you about my Soviet Russian grandma, Militrissa Ivanovna. She was not a typical grandmother - she hated cooking, she took care of her grandkids over the summer but only out of a sense of obligation, she was a bibliographer. She adored my dad, her only child, to pieces, but only after he learned to speak in complete sentences. One of those summers when she took care of me, at our dacha (summer cabin with a little garden)… I was about 12 and my friends were 10-12. Late 90’s or early 2000’s Russia, where elementary school kids could buy vodka “for my grandpa” - at least in rural areas like our dacha. I host a sleepover. We buy cocktails and get drunk in the woods. My younger friends get alcohol poisoning, I and my peer friend take care of them, my grandma observes and knows exactly what is happening. So she’s like - hey I’m telling their grandparents. I’m like, no grandma, please, they will KILL them, we will never be allowed to hang out again. So she says - fine, I was your age once, go take care of your friends. And what do my friends tell their parents the next day, when they are still sick? That they got food poisoning from my grandma’s food, which is sadly believable 🫠

Speaking as someone who was homeless for a short time and going hungry, I admit: I shoplifted food once. I hadn't stolen anything since I was a kid. Did 6 years in the Army, came back, struggled. And it got to the point that the night before payday I hadn't eaten in three days, and I couldn't handle it anymore. Walked into the local grocery store and slid a can of soup up my sleeve. Walked out feeling all manner of anxiety and guilt. But that soup helped me get through to the next day, so I could lay down and sleep because I had to work in the morning. I ended up moving back home after that (but not until after selling plasma to eat, which was another low in my life). And I've not stolen a single thing in the 20 years since that happened.
You don't know what someone is going through. You don't know how they're dealing with shit. So if you see someone shoplifting food: no you didn't.

This is my new favorite news show. 😊
The best way to hear the crazy in the world is laughing. 😂

I've been a bouncer for over thirty years. Including a run in Boston from '96-'06. Sooo… yeah. I've been in and seen some insane fights. The line about "all corners" is so true, and made me think of several hilarious for the wrong reason moments of my youth. As a 6'6" guy who was 310 in my 20s when I had abs, but then got old and fat, I am absolutely the guy who breaks up the fights. Life is amazing and stupid all at once.

So, what I think I hear Josh saying is "don't do check fraud, but if you do, be a bank."
Also, is it super weird that people were defrauding a place named Chase, but giving them all of their ID so they didn't have to chase them?

I've had a very rough year, and the relief of laughing this much is REAL.
The fact you deliver important commentary along the way? Rockstar. ❤
