Evan Dando is different. I was a fan since Lick. He writes great stuff. He has good taste. Even in his covers. Although my tastes are much more varied now....there's always room for Dando.
@@TheColorFred his taste is like a boullibase of flavor. Nick Cave , Big Star , Ben Lee etc covers are only songs he could do and make it his own.We have Joey Cape , Sly ,etc. Dando is different. Stove is one of my favorite songs. I think the Sassy-type magazines spoiled their image with too many guys that should’ve been into them. I saw them in Orlando on the Come On Feel…tour with Redd Kross. They were great, but my friends that were also in town at a skate park (we lived nearly 2 hours from Orlando) wouldn’t go. He’s one of the best songwriters of the past 40 years. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves. I’ve been listening to IASAR for 30 years and it still surprises me with lines that hit me differently now that I’m older. Lots to love. I wish Evan the best
@@TheColorFred I meant "The Big Lebowski" but not in a bad way. Evan sounds like a funny and interesting person to hang around with. I wish he did more records on a regular base and that he toured more often in Europe. Great interview by the way, this video should have far more likes.
I'm from the UK. first saw Lemonheads here in the UK around June 1989 at maybe their UK debut at Fulham Greyhound in London. Love that early sets and saw them many times here.
It's funny that Lovey is mentioned as the turning point with Evan and writing...that's as early as I can start with the Lemonheads, just never got into the earlier stuff.
Ohhhhh. Is this BRIAN LANGHAMMER? . This was never “your room “ proper. It was my son’s room we allowed you to sublet 1 month when you were HOMELESS. Evan was a far better housemate… while my son was back at school, having given his blessing.
Finally a clip where Evan is somewhat sober and lucid. Sadly he is the best example of what a lifetime of drug and alcohol abuse does, he was so handsome and vibrant years ago.
Check out Bezzewax from Norway, their first two albums "the snooze is on" and "south of boredom" I believe they are very inspired by bands like The Lemonheads and Dinosaur Jr ... Their first two albums are gems for sure
Great interview and stories! -- The Lemonheads have been my favorite band since I was in high school, when It's A Shame About Ray first came out. I've learned many Lemonheads songs on guitar ....... even made a home demo-type CD with 4 Lemonheads tracks that I called, "The Lemonheads Type". One song I want to learn, but can't quite figure out the right chords to is The Turnpike Down. Anyone out there know how to play this (chords)? - Thank you!
Saw him a couple years ago in Glasgow and unfortunately he was a bit too * up to perform to his best. I've been a fan since the early 90's and I hope he sorts it out before it kills him. He is so talented.
@@TheColorFred that's fantastic, I've been wanting to get the first 4 albums for a while, but I'm not paying insane prices for them (look at how much dead milkmen big lizard goes for on vinyl... $150? ridiculous!) Every band should re-release their music while people are still willing to pay for it, but then again it'll all end up in the ocean after we're all dead, so why bother?
5:14 i didn’t even make it halfway through. fred’s voice is very shrill and hurts my ears on my big speaker. DANDO IS COOL AS ALWAYS THO MUCH LOVE DANDO
Evan is such a sweet human being. Thanks so much for sharing this!

So cool to see Evan in an interview like this again, hopefully he comes to the U.K. soon cause I’ll be there :)
Yes, I think he's gonna be touring again soon. Thanks for watching
The Lemonheads are currently touring Ireland (Sept 2022) and next week they'll be in the UK.

Lemonheads were big when I was in highschool. Still love them! Greetings from Croatia

*last album from the 90s
Yeah, love that album! And loved playing those songs when I toured with them
This had me revisiting the Lemonheads discography. The self-titled record is even better than I remembered. Jam after jam after jam.

Definitely agree on your take, they weren't really taken seriously by many because of exactly that.
"And if it was meant to be, it was meant to not be..yeah..acceptance is very important part of life." This sound like a quote of Lebowksi.
Yea, Evan is well-read.
