Blur performing This Is a Low from their 1994 album 'Parklife' live at The Brit Awards 2012. Blur were honoured with a Brit Award for their outstanding contribution to music.
What gets me is the lack of views to what is one of the greatest songs of all time. To see this song live is an experience you can never forget. It does make you cry because it is Blur's best song and I know from a radio interview that "This Is A Low" and " The Universal" are Damon's favorite songs. As he put it, these are songs that had to be made, otherwise he wouldn't be satisfied.
Can you recall the particular interview in which he said that? I would love to hear it. But then again, that doesn't surprise me at all, as you can see he gets very passionate when singing these two songs. And how can he not? So painfully beautiful, can't get enough of them! Such a dreamy, melancholic, yet uplifting feel. Damon is one hell of a songwriter, and I feel like he isn't appreciated enough
@@noursarhan8695 Unfortunately I cannot remember exactly, as it was about 20 years ago. Process of elimination makes me think it was on Radio 1 and most likely Steve Lamacq.
Interesting. It stuck with me from a couple of listenings of Parklife. Pretty disappointing to know it's their best 😢. I like The Universal too. Of course, there are other songs that are good in their own way. I'm gonna get to all of them. Great band.
He has a wonderful, distinctive vocal that you can recognise in an instant, unlike the homogeneous vocal styles currently rolling off the production line.
It always surprises me how many people can’t simply enjoy the music without having to leave such a bitter and ignorant comment about “todays music”. Shut up
This is a Low wasn't a ParkLife hit single, but to me it's at the top of what Blur has done. I am proud to have made a cover, even if it is one of the simplest around here.

I remember me, a teenager in the 90s, doing homework in my little room, listening to these songs, so in love with Blur 🙃🥺No problems, no debts to Pay, just boeing happy
even though damon might not be the best live performer i still love him, would go to a conert if i had a chance and he just puts so much soul and emotion into his performences.
Saw them perform this in New York, summer of 2003. Totally unexpected, one of my all time favorite songs ever. Love Damon, love Blur, wish I had the chance to see the original line-up!
long live britpop and long live blur.. I miss the britpop invasion of the 90's.. I had the pleasure of seeing them live in 1996 and it was the greatest gig of my life..
Love you guys no matter what people say! I think the performance was great. But the setlist could have been better, but the brits wants the hits.. Damon your voice is stunnng as always. And they all did a great job.. Remember its long time since they all played together.. Love from josy
He is a beautiful man + he stopped doing drugs (or rarely did) since he had his daughter (1999).He loves her loads. Those aren't really his best looks. Bad angles or whatever. He still looks great and healthy for 44 (better than my dad). His voice was off then so it really gives a wrong impression. Makes you pity him though he's better than he was 10-20 years ago, happier anyway.
Deffo Blur's best performance of the night... Like a lot of people have said, the sound guys must have been slightly pissed. I can't wait to see them in Hyde Park again - I saw them on the 2nd of July '09 & it was fantastic. Surprised they didn't close with The Universal, but knowing Damon, he wouldn't want half of the goons who didn't know who they were, recognising them from the British Gas advert haha!! Anyway, it was a well deserved award...
nerlicia this is 5 yrs after you posted your comment, but he wrote the lyrics after listening to the channel’s shipping news on the radio. Just a little spin on low temp/low tide/low emotion. His songs in the 90s beautifully observed every day life & love, but always had the message that people just keep going. So we should just keep going. 😇
@Kitty956 I am so honored that someone on the internet enjoys my philosophical musings on the tantalizing subject of British popular music in the '90s. Or, in layman's terms, thank you. =]

@GillianisAslan "I say we don't breach the unwritten contract of mutual avoidance." that has to be the perfect description of how the blur/oasis fan rivalry has evolved. i couldn't stop laughing when i read it, its so true.
@Thelliott I'm what Noel would call a "Blur shandy boy." Haha, I'm always glad to have someone to foist my Britpop opinions onto. There aren't many takers 'round here.
There are songs that you don't hear every day, but when it comes to your mind and you look it up on yt, it makes your day.
that bass tone...
im seriously crying

It’s just such a glorious song
One of the deepest saddest songs of blur.
But yet it's hopeful- it won't hurt you!
My all time favourite Blur song, to me Damon's voice almost has a Bowieesque sound in this gem
simon boyland a treasure of that 90s historical album.
I agree Ortifas. Parklife is probably One of the most underated British albums of the last 30 years, total gem of an album
People usually tend to fight on Oasis and Blur instead of enjoy this two jewells that Britain has given... unbelievable.
Except Oasis were God-awful :)
OASIS IS GOD

Yikes that guitar solo at the end. Goosebumps.

For all the little mix and bieber fans, this is what you call real music.
He says " Up the Tyne, Forth and Cromarty" which are rivers and estuaries in this blessed little island.
Best wishes.
this song manages to bring together the almost inexplicable melancholic mystique of Britishness with the best of Blur. Masterclass
My all time favourite Blur song to this day, love it so much. Blur fan in the 90s and a Blur fan to this day...

Haunting.
I love this song
great as never, really, so glad they're back!
Damon's a little shakier and can't hit his falsettos as much, but it makes sense because he's older. Still great, though.
tpfang56 should of been at a peak but too much weed
he sang it better in a performance of 2014 so i don't think it's because of age ;)
You kidding? He hit it out the park
que época, genial.
even drummer Dave seemed transported
damon albarn amazing..a genius
Aww mi tema favorito I this a Low! I love BLUR! And Damon
