    i have a question as to why dont some sort of plastic "shoes" for the toe end of the bat exist in cricket? like something that can be clipped on to bats, to help against wear and tear of the toe end, so that once the plastic part starts to wear out, it is easily removed and replaced cheaply by another one at any given time. i think itll help bats last a lot longer. im sure something can easily be designed on a 3d printer, which wont effect any playing either.

      We had a few new ones come through a couple of years ago for knocking in. Other than that, probably only a few for a tidy-up that people have purchased second-hand for their bat collections.

    I'm intrigued by the economics of a repair like this. Seems like $100-$200 or so in labor and a quick search for one of those bats suggest it's around $300. Seems like a brand new bat would ultimately last longer?

    • @FantailCricket
      @FantailCricket  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe this was a player's grade 2021 GN, so brand new this bat would retail at $999NZD. Bats also perform better with use so after this repair, It will likely outperform a brand-new version of the same bat.

    I’m confused as to why you cut the tow of the bat off. This will now make the bat a shorter blade bat, is that what the customer wanted. Handle I get to cut the top off to SH, SSH etc but why the toe of the bat?

    I have to admit to a bit of confusion. Spending so much on a repair for a bat when a replacement would be cheaper. I do understand the love of the old bat, but if you loved the bat so much, then how could you let it fall into such a poor state.

    • @LaineDavies
      @LaineDavies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This probably cost $200 or so. New bay like this would be $700+

    • @FantailCricket
      @FantailCricket  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Correct, the repair costs just under $200NZD to replace the same bat would cost $1000NZD.
