So let's take Instagram for example. An Instagram account for a brand, let's say Nike, is social media marketing. Nike posting a story of a product, that's another example of social media marketing. Now let's say they post a story of a product with a clickable link that takes users directly to the product page where they can purchase the product, that's social commerce. A few years ago, those links weren't available. Then they became available only to users that reached a certain follower milestone. Now, these links are available to almost every user. Another example would be clickable posts within your account. Not too long ago, photos posted to an Instagram account were just that, photos, so it was merely a way of advertising your products. Now, many brands are able to link products directly to the image -you'll see a small dot appear next to the item with the item price, and clicking on it takes you to the product page where you can add the item to your cart. That's where social media marketing has evolved into social commerce. 😄
