came back after 9 years, needed to find my roots again, thank you watsky, you were my first rap concert ive ever went too when i was 14... im gonna be 26 this year...
I think that we(the people on this reply forum) should collectively ask spotify to do such a thing..... . . . or just all stop paying any spotify bills & stop watching commercials on their dime so in essence, say "fuck 'Em" all together. Thanks. :)
I like him because he's always exploring. It's cool that he can rap fast, but to me the measure of George Watsky is how he thinks, not how fast he can share what he thinks with you.
I'm glad for a sec that they put based on the song "I'd Love to Change the World" by Ten Years After in the description because I was about to go off on how that guitar was a total ripoff
I saw watsky live only once and it was at a warped tour a few years ago. That was the first time I had ever heard him or seen him and now I can't stop listening to him and he inspires me each day to try to work twords being a musician myself. I needed this energy this morning. Going into 2021 with a good mindset if anything else
This song gives me so much inspiration. I play it everytime im getting down and cant find the motivation to go on. I close my eyes and place myself in your perception. Love it
From Watsky's official facebook page: "i hear where you're coming from-- i shot 7 or 8 big budget music videos for the album. if i had the money i would have done all 15 songs. i would have loved to do videos for boomerang, cannonball, sarajevo, the one and tears to diamonds, but i decided it was better that i save the money i had left over for *my next album*. this lyrics video is a repost from a year ago anyway" And he made many other references to his new album on Twitter, as well. P.S. - He's going to release a book as well.
Revisiting this old favorite leaves me with mixed emotions. To me, this is pure rapping gold. It's the fountain I drink from when I need to rejuvenate and revive my ears from the wear and tear of mind numbing main stream pop. But when I see the views.... Really? If quality was directly related to views, then this vid should have opa gangnam style numbers. Or is it my taste that sucks? Are the masses right? Is Justin Bieber a fantastic artist, and I've just failed to realize it? Yeah right. Seriously though... In my book, Watskys place is with the big boys. Right up there on the highest shelf within their different styles. Elvis. Bob Marley. David Bowie. Frank Zappa. George Watsky. That's how much his word flow means to me. Because when listening to oh so many other artists, my brain shuts off. Watsky, on the other hand, lights my brain right up. Only one other rapper/wordsmith comes close. And no, it is not Eminem. Zack Sherwin.
Well, to be honest, watsky would be able to make a record deal no sweat if he decided to actually do it. His talent doesn't go unnoticed. He turned down a chance to make a quarter million dollars because it involved him pitching a mobile phone and he thought himself better, which in all honesty he is. I'm sure he could get a record deal but I doubt it would satisfy the current norm. Obviously I'm talking about the trash we currently listen to. That isn't to say it is all trash by the way. But watsky in General is a poetic person and has said that him rapping is his way to get you to listen to his poetry. (Not word for word) Currently, I think watsky would have to throw away his uniqueness to make it big. Maybe one day that will change, and you know we all are hopeful that day comes soon.
If you only find Zach and George's wordplay impressive than you need to broaden your horizons. They are both very talented, but there are other rappers who are on this level or higher. Krizz Kalikko. Kendrick Lamar. Tech Nine. You ever hear the song Fragile by Tech Nine and Kendrick?
Kyle Vokey Heya. Just started checking out Tech N9ne, and yep- it's good stuff indeed. Thanks for the tip. I live in Norway, and this place is pretty much cut off when it comes to indie music. And I don't even know where to begin searching for gems, as TH-cam, spotify etc are flooded with crap. So I'll have to rely on good tips, such as yours. Thanks again. Most appreciated.
I get that iTunes is really useful and all; it's a convenient way to get music, but unless the artist is already making a fairly large amount of money off of music sales, putting it on itunes will hurt more than it'll help because apple takes so much of the profits :/
George Watsky... Me & my brother have been listing to your raps & have tried to memorize them all! But, its funny because what I have memorized, he hasn't... He memorized this one but I haven't. You are the only person who I can memorize they're raps & blow everyone's minds when I rap on the bus like you! I also got a strategic advantage with my friends! =3
I can't come out. They postponed the concert cause people are freaking out. And I bought a ticket for Watsky literally a week before this stupid shit. Thos would be my third time seeing him perform. He puts on an absolutely amazing show.

2024 anyone ? Song still hits me the same way it did 12 years ago I can’t believe it’s been 12 years
I keep hoping it rocks up on Spotify. Still my favourite Watsky track,
@@PaperSmilesit’s a banger bro for sure
10 years later and this is still amazing 😢
This is live and it's 100 times better than the studio version lol Watsky is one of the most underrated musicians out there
IKR, when I was listening to this I used to think this was the studio version (I would always have it on auto-play)
Live with a band is an ethereal experience and I don't do drugs I don't even smoke pot but Watsky live with the band is something else
I listened to rich girls from the live in london perfomance on soundcloud and its way different from any version you can find on youtube.
There's a studio version?
Agreed
came back after 9 years, needed to find my roots again, thank you watsky, you were my first rap concert ive ever went too when i was 14... im gonna be 26 this year...

Yes. I just discovered this cat yesterday, but that's exactly what I enjoy about him. He's multidimensional, and what he says really makes me think.
Albert Manuel RTJ is the exact same (some/most of it)
He's a true poet
Yeah I agree. And He’s got some crazy spoken word poetry too!
Our boy did this live yesterday in berlin, after not performing it in sevenish years,
They kicked some serious butt,
So so so good..!
He did it for us at the Copenhagen show too! Such a great one
so fucking good, so fucking short. I have to put a repeat button on the repeat button.
Sensacional!
@@marioviniciuscoelho9316 ive been spelling that wrong for so damn long
This was recommended to me all these years later. Still dope!
I remember 10yrs ago watching this and being blown away as a kids. Some reason it popped up in my head again and I still love it
"'cause an 808 kick is my gatorade drink"
love that shit.
Really wish this was on Spotify... One of my new favorites as I watch the Sun rise....
Watsky has one of the best live deliveries of any live hip hopper or rapper I've heard. Still so clear yet it has that feel a live performance should.
that guitar is beautiful.
I'm glad for a sec that they put based on the song "I'd Love to Change the World" by Ten Years After in the description because I was about to go off on how that guitar was a total ripoff

Does anyone know why this song is called "$$" on the mixtape?
No idea. I was wondering myself there are tracks like that like $$$ $$ $ and . .. ... on his albums never knew why.
Because at the time they were bonus songs.
Cause the song is money...

LYRICS
[Verse 1]
My head's up in the sky it's higher than the clouds are
I like to look up at the stars and wonder how far
from what I hear about a billion babies are delivered every day and so it's like the planet is a clown car
I know it probably shouldn't work, but we all fit
Like a Mcy D's Playplace ballpit
So lookie me, I'm about to jump up in it swimming through syringes like a mothafuckin dolphin
I might have an outburst
There's a lot of freaky people on the planet and it makes me want to crowd surf
everybody everywhere dig downwards
it's what we work for
party at the earth's core!
I don't where to go to go far
but if if I go, then I know I should go hard
And if I go and I never come back
Then I'll send a postcard
And a couple thumb tacks
[Verse 2]
Teacher said this party started with a loud bang
the way my ears are ringing I don't hear a sound mang
I'm steady looking at the crowd like a proud dad
for coming out instead of clicking like a mouse pad
steal a bounce house, fill it full of helium
ride like a blimp because I think It'd be really fun
to do a triple flip in zero gravity while puffing on a philly blunt and shooting stars with a BB gun
Tonight I'll look at something that I've never seen before
And I might even pen graffitti on a meteor
I can reach it, homie veni vidi vicci it's all peachy got a vision of the future on a wigi board
I didn't believe it, I
thought it CGI
Why don't you decide
if we're computerized?
assuming you and I are alive
and tomorrow is the rapture
I wonder watcha wanna do tonight
[Verse 3]
I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna
I don't I don't wanna end up as an anybody
Everybody is anybody
made of arteries and antibodies
and you never get to see confetti without getting bloody
If you read ahead you'll all be surprised
spoiler alert!
we're all gonna die
But I'll be hooping in that driveway in the clouds
Shooting fouls with that big orange ball in the sky
And when I die wanna say well I made it
And be way celebrated
and remain as a staple
If I stay hella faded
then I'll fade and my fate'll be the same as the fakers with the chains on the labels
it's a shame people do it for the fame and the cash and not the flame and the passion
I train through the pain and I frame every passage as way to stay fit
Cause an 808 kick is my gatorade drink
Damn Watsky can really rap fast even in live performance.
