  • Arm Lymphedema and Arm or Hand Swelling can cause aching and difficulty doing your normal daily activities. Arm swelling after breast cancer surgery is the most common cause of this swelling.
    In this video I go through the best arm lymphedema exercises that are similar and easy to do for all levels. These exercises can help get the fluid moving out of your arm or hand and improve your joints, skin, and decrease size.

    Thank you for these exercises. I am years out from my first surgery, but finding more swelling in my arm at present. Finding it difficult to get my arm above my head to brush my hair. I am hoping exercising will help get some of the swelling down to make it easier.

    I didn’t realize how much I need therapy. I’m crying in pain even w a little bit tho I’m active during day. Ty for this. It def triggered me to get professional help and the surgeons instructions simply aren’t enough esp since my arm and hand are ballooning

    I was recently diagnosed with lymphedema after my bilateral mastectomy and my chemo treatment. Your video helped so much. My hand’s were so sore and swollen. After they felt better. Thank you so much

    I like this but it would be so good if you would do the full routine (all reps) without skipping to the next step and the routine in reverse as a complete exercise so we could work along with you from beginning to end.

    Thank you sò much! Really helpful! Just want to know....is there a Step 1, 2, 3...a specific sequence, starting with breathing, circling the stomack, groin, ect before going to neck, over to elbow, down the arm and upwards again. The drainage of the arm is clear...but the starting point is unclear. Thank you!

    Av developed lymphedema with severe pains at the back. I'm a breast cancer survivor,did mastectomy a year ago. I downloaded this video and av subscribed. I follow n do this exercise on the video daily n I'm placed on analgesic. I'm also using the lymphatic drainage machine but the pain is still there. Pls help me, what can I do again. The pain is so much

    Would these exercises be good for post surgery ORIF of the wrist? We may be doing all of these to decrease swelling on the side that needs it the most.

    how about stretches for my back. My lumpectomy was on my left breast 2pm position. I have a bit of liquid still trapped under my arm pit from surgery (told normal) but now my upper back like closer to midback through my shoulder blade is tight and painful...ugh...need help. I odn't start PT for 3 more weeks

    i have a broken shoulder. using sling and swath. 3 weeks in and now i have pain and swelling from bicep down to elbow. i cant exercise arm. is there anything i can do for this swelling? thank you for your work.

    Very helpful. I have a neck tumor, and I have a fullness feeling under one arm. Of course I panicked, wondering if the tumor had metastasized to the armpit. Before I run to the oncologist, I intend to do the exercises. If the symptoms go away, that will at least mean edema is an issue that needs treating. I must say, the neck tumor is not growing at all. If a tumor were growing, I would see the oncologist at once. Your exercises will help me do some self-diagnosis before I look for a more serious issue. Thanks

    Hi,
    My mother has swelling on her left arm. She had her cancer operation many many years ago, and only now she's have swelling like never before. But now she started resistance training. Could that be the reason for the swelling now? What else could possibly be the reason for swelling? What could we do to reduce the swelling.? Could you please help me out here so i can help her. Thank you for your time.

      One of the things I was told after the surgery is that you aren't supposed to do anything for more than 15 min that involves that arm, and even when it's only 15 min you are supposed to wear your compression or bandage sleeve. It doesn't matter if your mother had her surgery many many years ago, the problem is that the lymph nodes that were taken away never grow back so she has to be careful w the activities she does for the rest of her life.
      If she's been doing any exercise lately (like the resistance training she's doing) she needs to stop as soon as possible and be evaluated by a physical therapist in person. She might need to wear a special compression sleeve to get rid of the liquid in her arm, as well as lymphatic massage depending on how serious her lymphedema is.

    Bicep curls are *NOT* meant to be "straight", biggest mistake you could do with that exercise 🤦🏼‍♀️😂
