Holy Cow. You guys just did something in 14 minutes that no one else has been able to do for me. You explained the causes and solutions to my suppressed AR (both large and small frame) accelerated cam-pin/bolt face/ wear, and the occasional popped primer issues. Your brief explanation of gas system port/tube length in relation to bolt unlocking was very useful and informative for me too. Thank you for making that stuff clearer. The only thing I wish you’d gotten into was what JP buffer spring (and suggested buffer weight) might be chosen for a given buffer tube length, when used in conjunction with a Heavy Mass JP BC (if a fella isn’t using a captured spring device for any reason). You guys should publish a spread sheet, or start a multi-part video series, dealing with all the gas system variables to provide proper starting points for builders. I’ll have to look, maybe you already did. One thing for sure, I’m going with JP exclusively from now on.
So I built a kinda cloned JP LRP07. I'm using a JP 6.5CM 22in. Supermatch barrel, JP detent AGB, JP SCS gen2 for AR10 H2 heavy with the red/blue spring, JP VMOS BCG, and a Silencerco Omega 300. (Hopefully I covered everything important) So it cycles great but it's not locking back on last round with AGB fully opened. When I had the lightest weight SCS spring installed, the red spring, it would lock back but it was bending 99% of the case mouths on ejected brass. When I switched to the heavier SCS it remedied the bent case mouths but now won't lock back on last round. I believe the LRP-07 is assembled using a LMOS BCG rather than the VMOS, but also isn't suppressed. Not sure what SCS or buffer it runs but I'm guessing the lighter weight as well? So question is should I exchange a tungsten weight with a stainless steel weight and lighten either the VMOS BCG/buffer? My thought is that since the LRP-07 uses all lightweight internals unsuppressed, that the H2 SCS and VMOS BCG that I run, even though I'm suppressed, is too much mass added and I need to remove some weight. Only thing else I can think of is to just say screw pressure signs and load it hotter (lol), drop down spring weight and just deal with less brass life possibly, or very slightly open up the gas port (last resort) and I only mention this because the LRP-07 I believe runs the lightweight SCS and LMOS BCG, so lightweight internals. What do owners of JP LRP-07 rifles that run there's suppressed have to do in order to get their rifle to lock back on last round? Do they have to add both the H2 SCS AND VMOS BCG, or do they just add one? Or do they not need to do anything? Would assume if not much is needed to be done to the LRP-07 to run a suppressor reliably then mine just has too much mass and would need to buy lightweight internals or slightly open up the gas port at this point. Any help and/or suggestions are much appreciated! Thank you.
So just for anyone having the same issue that I was, I put in a heavier tungsten weight on my SCS and it completely fixed the premature bolt opening which was causing the casing to get really dirty from unlocking early. Thank you guys! Rifle is cycling perfectly now, not beating up brass like it was, brass is coming out clean so not prematurely unlocking, etc. All this due to the following video you made to this one! I either asked about my issue at the perfect time, or you guys made a video responding to my question in this video! Either way thanks again!
You all should do like a rifle build series like what components to put for different rifles and their different applications for example 308 hunting build, 308 three gun build, 308 home defense build and so on
That was very educational. I have a question, I own a 20 inch 6.5 Creedmore barrel with a rifle length gas system. If I am using a full auto BCG will I have lock up issues like you mentioned with the 22 inch 6.5 barrel rifle length gas example?
So just to confirm, in the meantime while I wait for my suppressor, I can still shoot my M5 aero precision/DPMS Gen 1 LR-308 in the meantime? It would be best to go with JPBC-7H2 and a GEN 2 Silent Captured Spring for AR-10-type rifles - H2 Buffer with a spacer for a fixed A2 stock?, and just adjust the gas as needed, correct?
Ok I keep hearing about that aluminum BCG being a wear part. Can you tell me what kind of lifespan you’re talking about,? Maybe a ball park round count,? I really like the idea of an ultra lightweight large platform. Is it impossible to build a reliable duty type of ultra lightweight large platform rifle,?
We don't have as much data on the BC-8 as on the small-frame BC-1 aluminum carrier, but the principles are the same, and we have a FAQ question on our website about the latter: jprifles.com/1.4.7_LMOS.php Any rifle that's going to get self defense or duty use, we would not recommend aluminum these carriers for.
What is the best gucci ar10 bolt for 308? Id like to find something really slick dlc coated and work with suppressed and unsuppressed on a 20” 308 barrel. Anyone know what is awesome that scenario?
***also...I am still not used to how easy the bolt slides in and out of my Toolcraft carrier. Your bolt had a 1 ring system. Does that easy glide allow for gas to escape past the bolt?
Nope. It's deceptive like that, but we hold the tolerance very tight so that it does make a good seal without unnecessary friction/wear. It's one of (if not the) trickiest parts we make from a manufacturing standpoint.
In all the time we've been making them, I have not seen one that was worn out from normal use. I have see a couple that had wear on the hammer cocking pad from poorly designed aftermarket fire control groups.
I'm building a 22" 6.5 Creed on an Aero M5 kit with a JP Full Mass carrier, Enhanced HP Bolt, and standard SCS. Will the Aero or a Radian Forward assist work?
Hey guys! 🙂 👍...I just started in mid-range prone high power. I built an AR-10 with a Criterion 18" with your extension and HP bolt for 6.5 Creedmoor. I have a rifle tube & spring with a 5.8oz buffer. Do you have options for me to get away from the spring twang etc.?
JP needs to prepare a Bolt Carrier Selection Guide, similar to what was done for the Silent Captured Spring System.

We do have a Silent Captured Spring video coming out soon, so keep an eye out for that.
I second this fellas idea, a spreadsheet for different scenarios would be awesome and you guys would probably sell more
Thanks guys! Timely video as I spoke with Ben about this very topic. Appreciate the time you get via phone or email when I have questions.
JP makes awesome stuff. Great Content, thank you

Which would be the ideal BCG if my build is suppressed, with an adjustable gas block, on a .308 , 16” Mid-length, with a JPSCS? Thank you.
Hello. I’m in the process of building a 6.5 Creedmoor rifle with a 22” barrel. Which of your BCGs do you recommend?

Do you have a British distributor?
Which bolt should I get if I’m shooting suppressed and want more accuracy.
How many rounds bolt carrier lasts in 7.62 jp rifle

how is SR25 compatibility? I'm working on dialing in a MARS-H. I have a JP SCS for large caliber also...

Check out our Silent Captured Spring systems.
I need a new bolt for my ar10 .308
