I can't help but love this movie. Not just because of itself, but it also gives my often-forgotten hometown of Buffalo a spotlight. The action scenes were all shot in San Diego, but several of the backgrounds - like the newsroom background, the scene where Bruce and God are walking around on the lake, the Clint Eastwood scene, and Bruce declaring himself "Bruce Almighty" - were Buffalo. Jim Carrey was born and raised in Toronto, which is only a 90-minute drive from Buffalo. He's said that he made trips to and from Buffalo fairly frequently as a kid and has always spoken very well of the city and his time there. Keifer Sutherland and Mike Myers are also Toronto natives who commuted to Buffalo a lot when they were young. After a mass murder there in 2022, Myers appears on Stephen Colbert's show wearing a Buffalo Sabres jersey to show the people there that he thought of them. Despite what the movie says, the Sabres have never won a championship, and I fully expect the people there would act exactly like they did in the movie if either major team (Sabres or Bills) ever did. And if you like Jim Carrey as a cartoon, it's time to see The Mask - one of my favorite comedies ever.
It may be just a coincidence but If you look back at some key scenes in the movie, it looks as though it drops references to scripture in both Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty. For example, in the scene where Bruce picks up the broken phone and the announcer mentions the numbers 5-1-2-3, it appears to make a biblical reference to Proverbs chapter 5 verses 1 thru 23, or at least the first few verses, which is consistent with Bruce seeking answers. In Evan Almighty, there are biblical easter eggs in the guise of numbers throughout that movie as well. I just found out you live in Philly. So do I (Northeast section)👍👍

The movie Grace was watching about the "lasso and the moob" was "It's a Wonderful Life." An absolute classic starring Jimmy Stewart from 1946.A great movie with Jennifer Aniston wanting a family is Marley and Me. If you love dogs, it's a great one. Just keep a box of tissues near you.
Fun fact: in the restaurant scene when he first started hearing the prayers you can hear Grace's voice saying "how could I have been so stupid?" Because she was asking God who at the moment just so happened to be right there. It's a deep moment and her voice is easy to miss if you're not expecting it because there's a lot of them speaking at once.

Did you not yet see, "It's a Wonderful Life"? That's what the movie clip was that inspired Bruce to "throw a lasso around the moon and pull it down." It's one of the best movies of all-time and a perennial Christmas favorite! I hope you see it in black and white, it's a wonderful film. Starring James Stewart, Donna Reed, and Lionel Barrymore.
It may sound weird, but watching you react to this movie and understand its message...Well, I'm just going to take it as a sign that I needed for myself.
Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty are both really good movies. They should have made another one and completed the trilogy [or should I say the holy trinity😄].
When God the Janitor climbs the ladder and says "Yeah, I think you can handle things now." That's Christ, going back to Heaven. That's essentially what the crucifixion story is. He cleaned up our sin and left it to us to continue his work. Because we can. ...well there's more to it than that, but it's always fun to see all the parallels, anyway.

19:19 this is from the greatest Christmas movie (& arguably of all time) called it’s a wonderful life. Will leave you with a new lease of life feeing like you want to make the most of it. Recommend to watch it asap! To answer your question the man George Bailey (played by James Stewart who had ptsd from the war at the time of filming so much so that there is a scene in the movie where he has a break down off script and the cameras stay on him and keep rolling which they use in the movie) asks “am I talking too much” And then an onlooker at a house near by yells “yes! Why don’t your kiss her instead of talking her to death, youth is wasted on the wrong people”
I grew up in Buffalo, NY. When I saw this in theaters I kept thinking "Did they make this movie in different versions for each city?" The only movie to be made there.
Okay so, the shot with Bruce parting his tomato soup is a direct reference to the movie The Ten Commandments. It's the part where Mozes, parts the Red Sea to allow his people to cross and then as the Egyptians are following, he sets the sea back to normal. It's even possible that the music playing as Bruce does it is the same FROM The Ten Commandments. I haven't watched it since I was about 7 years old. 40 years ago. I want to say that it's from the 60's, but I'm not completely positive about that.
You know I've seen this movie a couple dozen times and I never noticed that when they're finishing mopping, Morgan says "Well alrighty then".....how have I missed that all these years???!!!
People give Bedazzled (2000), with Brendan Frazier & Elizabeth Hurley a hard time but I loved it and the message at the end always makes me smile and tear up a tad. This movie always reminds me of that one because of that.
It's A Wonderful Life has to be the next on your list to watch. It's easily top ten greatest movies ever made. It's the one Grace is watching before the party. It's from 1946 and ingrained in pop culture and most don't realize it. You'll bawl your eyes out, but it's the best feel good movie. It's Xmas movie, but it's worth watching year round.
I lived for 12 years in Jersey..down by Philly near Cherry Hill..the town was Willingboro..so, I cross the George Washington Bridge and I’m in Philly..but I am from Kansas, so..a Chiefs fan ..and the Kelce brothers Super Bowls was one of the best ever..
There is second movie about this series.. It's "Evan Almighty".. It's about Steve Carell ( Evan character at this movie)... That movie is fantastic too..
The real question I have is. Could they pull off a sequel to this and Evan almighty? Maybe grace almighty Maybe she's struggling with postpartum depression. And her faith at the same time Maybe she too is given the powers and abuses them at first. Bruce helps her through the process
I loved this movie - I know it’s not a Jim Carrey movie but the sequel, Evan Almighty, starring Steve Carell is FANTASTIC! I highly recommend adding it to your watch list! It’s been a while but I think I actually preferred the sequel to the original! 🤔🤯
i can be very negative sometimes, i remember when i first saw this me and my GF hadn't been going out very long and she said to me as we watched this "this sounds like you" and i was like "oh fu%$ off" and she glared at me so i apologised...for the record we're still together and have been for several years. this was a great Jim Carrey film though...the point it made was to true. Morgan Freeman is kind of right, people don't know what they want really; they THINK they do...they want their favourite sports team to win a game...or they want do well at their job...but then they realise son afterwards that isn't important...true happiness isn't about things that are temporary...
Morgan Freeman was great as God, but Steve Buscemi in Miracle Workers (first season) is even more accurate :D One of the movies that don't age. Love it.

"Sport man throw ball well, we riot now" 😂😂😂 this, this was gold because I agree 😂😂😂
2:40 _"Inside,_ bad! _Outside,_ good!"
Now, Bruce, that is _not_ how you house-train a dog.
There's a bit of a religious pun that a lot of folks miss. Thanks to her prayers, Bruce is Saved by Grace. ❤
Y’all ever notice Bruce Almighty and Even Almighty are connected? As a kid I thought I was on to something.
they are.. Evan Almighty takes place about 3-5 years after Bruce Almighty
Ummm it's definitely connected, it's a sequel. This is common knowledge.
I'm a cinephile, watched all my life movies, some series and i really enjoy that and the backstage, etc. When you say that you need more movies in your life i thought i need you in my life, well, someone like you, you are a little woman and i'm not. Greetings from Argentina. Thanks!
Jim Carrey is an absolute treasure that needs protected.
I definitely recommend The Mask, or Dumb & Dumber next.
If you need more "Bruce Almighty" the movie have a sequel "Evan Almighty" where Evan became Noah. It is pretty fun.
Fyi O negative is the blood they want the most and O positive next. AB positive can only give to AB positive but O negative can give to nearly all and O positive to nearly half. There are a few rare cases that require exact matches despite the normal rules that the donor can lack a component of the reciever but not the other way.
I've never seen it either
It may sound weird, but watching you react to this movie and understand its message...Well, I'm just going to take it as a sign that I needed for myself.
Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty are both really good movies. They should have made another one and completed the trilogy [or should I say the holy trinity😄].
If you want to wait till closer to Halloween, one Jim Carrey movie I liked is "Once Bitten".
That was before he was famous
19:25 - "What is the rest of this movie?" - You've never seen It's a Wonderful Life (1946)? It's a classic!
"Is it my hair, Bill? Are my teeth not white enough? Or like the great falls are the bedrock of my life! Eroding beneath me! ERODING!!!"
11:59 Bless you
25:45 One tote bag of PIPE CLEANERS! It is an important distinction because everyone remembers when they broke up with a future fiance and thought "I've got to get my pipe cleaners back!"
“He got his job back? I feelThat wouldn’t be enough.”
Obviously you don’t appreciate the significance of FINDING Jimmy Hoffa’s body!!😂😂 Only one of the biggest mysteries of the last century. Right up there with Amelia Earhart and D.B. Cooper.
09:55 Morgan Freeman is atheist, but has played God several times in movies.
I like him even more now.
Vicky is one of the most endearing people I know of on youtube🥰
19:19 this is from the greatest Christmas movie (& arguably of all time) called it’s a wonderful life. Will leave you with a new lease of life feeing like you want to make the most of it. Recommend to watch it asap!
To answer your question the man George Bailey (played by James Stewart who had ptsd from the war at the time of filming so much so that there is a scene in the movie where he has a break down off script and the cameras stay on him and keep rolling which they use in the movie) asks “am I talking too much”
And then an onlooker at a house near by yells “yes! Why don’t your kiss her instead of talking her to death, youth is wasted on the wrong people”
I grew up in Buffalo, NY. When I saw this in theaters I kept thinking "Did they make this movie in different versions for each city?" The only movie to be made there.
The movie with the 'You want the moon?" line is It's A Wonderful Life, and I think you'd probably like it. It's a good holiday watch.
She’s wearing a Mario kart shirt. I love that
You know I've seen this movie a couple dozen times and I never noticed that when they're finishing mopping, Morgan says "Well alrighty then".....how have I missed that all these years???!!!
The sequel Evan almighty was also good !!! You also missed the bloopers at the end !!!!
People give Bedazzled (2000), with Brendan Frazier & Elizabeth Hurley a hard time but I loved it and the message at the end always makes me smile and tear up a tad. This movie always reminds me of that one because of that.
The Majestic: Jim Carrey doing more than comedy and a very under-rated movie.
This!
The Majestic was a flop unfortunately though
It's A Wonderful Life has to be the next on your list to watch. It's easily top ten greatest movies ever made. It's the one Grace is watching before the party. It's from 1946 and ingrained in pop culture and most don't realize it. You'll bawl your eyes out, but it's the best feel good movie. It's Xmas movie, but it's worth watching year round.
The movie with the moon is It's a Wonderful Life.
I just saw It's a Wonderful Life for the first time a few weeks ago. I now understand why it's considered a masterpiece.
19:20 - "What is the rest of this movie??"
Are you saying you've never seen It's A Wonderful Life????? Oh, you HAVE to! It's a Christmas classic!
Bruce Almighty is definitely another great Jim Carrey movie have a really wonderful week V.💙☺️🐶🐱💙
You and this movie are a perfect match. Wholesome , friendly and sweet.
This and The Prince of Egypt are the movies that I *absolutely love* even though I'm not overly religious.
i can be very negative sometimes, i remember when i first saw this me and my GF hadn't been going out very long and she said to me as we watched this "this sounds like you" and i was like "oh fu%$ off" and she glared at me so i apologised...for the record we're still together and have been for several years. this was a great Jim Carrey film though...the point it made was to true.
Morgan Freeman is kind of right, people don't know what they want really; they THINK they do...they want their favourite sports team to win a game...or they want do well at their job...but then they realise son afterwards that isn't important...true happiness isn't about things that are temporary...
A great movie he did that's half comedy half serious....he plays a guy who goes to a self help seminar, and has to say Yes, to everything!
Morgan Freeman was great as God, but Steve Buscemi in Miracle Workers (first season) is even more accurate :D
One of the movies that don't age. Love it.
PLEASE watch the end of the video, OTHERWISE known as the BLOOPERS! AND also, PLEASE watch the movie Evan Almighty! I am sure you can figure who plays Evan as well as figuring out the storyline of the movie! And in the future please always watch the very end of movies. There are a lot of movies that have post credit material included. 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤
I hate to say it but I loved the monkey scene
Nah that “megabyte me” joke was freaking amazing lol
@VKunia Glad to hear you lived in S. Philly for a while. I was born and grew up there. It was a pretty unique place with lots of character. I'm long gone from there, but it's never left me. BTW, I enjoy your reactions. Keep up the fun work! 😀
The black and white movie in the background that talked about george lasso-ing the moon is a classic christmas movie called Its a Wonderful Life. Sounds like you havent seen it, it would be a great addition to your movie list.
Fun flick, the sequel is equally great. Awesome reaction V!
Hey V, love your laughter!
