Trent, the torque convertor is a critical part of the crawler. Torque convertors are available in different stall speeds. Having a higher stall speed will allow the engine to develop higher RPM before completely engaging the transmission. This could be beneficial when climbing a tall obstacle. Perhaps some research into this issue via other crawler builders experiences would help. As a former drag racer, the torque convertor stall speed really made a difference in leaving the starting line under the appropriate power. Spend the money on a quality convertor, going to be worth every penny!

🦋 I can’t quite imagine what one must think if they only were watching the end of this with Trent wearing his beanie cap without the propeller his well fitted rain (welders) jacket lol, and his lime green gloves. He looks like somebody doing a children’s show. Thanks for a great video Trents Garage - Big shout out to Trent and all of the shops that are doing building/rebuilding and of course the rest of the team Brandon and Allie!
This will be hilarious when Leo gets older and watches this.

Trent you may want to get a few Welding blankets. We had 4, made a portable wall out of 3 of them and one for throwing over other things. Best investment we ever made.

What an amazing relationship you have and it's fantastic to see you employing your friend and getting along so well. What a great team you are. And of course Team Trent and Allie also never ceases to amaze me. I REALLY enjoy all your content on both channels. (including Joel, Leo and the dogs). Cheers from Australia.

Trent, I see a future build and small business opportunity in your future. Build a decent sized straight truck, with a large propane tank for refilling other tanks at people's homes. The twist is the truck would be loaded at the base of the mountain and have snow tracks to service mountain residents. Enjoying your Toyota build. Fun to tag along on the adventure.

I would recommend fish plates over all the frame sections that you butt welded together. I’m no engineer but when I built my frame years ago everyone I talked to suggested fish plates over the frame sections joints for more weld surface and strength. Just my 2 cents. Anyway love the progress and both channels! Keep up the great work!

Splurge on a new heavy duty torque converter, Mr. Childs
If you're going to go rock crawling with those big tires, that's where that converter works it's hardest. Along with a new supercharged engine and new transmission, that old torque converter may or may not last long. Oh, and close up that box of Cheez-Its...going to get stale. Enjoying the show, good job!

🧐🧐Tip 4 ya Trent! For a stronger fitment to weld your frame parts together. Note square butt welds are weak only good for static pressures. They don't do well flexing and twisting.👉👉 Cutting Z's or V's male and female ends in the parts to weld together are stronger against flexing and twisting forces. Their less likely to split or sheer. 🤔🤔If not and it's to late by the time this vid was posted. You might need to weld side plates and from the bottom U wraps around the weld joints to spred the forces away from the joints.

A suggestion when you made your transition drop or up angle what ever you want to call it. It is advisable to cut a piece of flat steel for each side per tube. Button hole 3 places in a triangle position on each side of your welded joint. Place the extra steel on the inside and weld at the button holes at each connecting point as you build your frame. After years of building race car frames that is the weakest point of your frame. An alternate version is to grind down your welds and plate the frame on the outside and go at least 6-8 inches past your joints. And weld 100% around the extra plates.
