@@poppopw5305 Absolutely! This great Philly jam written by Bell & James ("Living It Up") along with Leroy Bell's uncle- one of the greatest arrangers/songwriters/producers ever- Mr. Thom Bell (part of Philly's Big 3 along with his partners in soulful crime: Gamble & Huff). I wish the "Thom Bell Sessions" were not only not aborted but made into a double album at that special time in 1977. EJ's soulful vocals gliding on those TSOP grooves! I'm thankful we got the surviving songs from that session- all which demonstrate EJ stepping up to the challenge of the genius of Mr. Bell & all those great Philadelphia musicians. This short album puts EJ's voice front & center unlike any in his great catalog. 42 years ago?!.........it's hard to believe- especially listening to this gem which sounds like much of that classic Philly sound- timeless & like they just cut this track last night.
@@MrNewktrane this is why I stay on TH-cam because songs like this are not played on conventional radio; they're too focused on what's popular and happening now. I'm so proud to be from Philly where all this musical magic took place.
For the life of me, I just can't fathom why this banger wasn't a huge global hit for Elton at the time and only got to a miserly No 42 in the UK charts. After patiently waiting for it's moment for all those years, at least this classic song has now finally gotten the recognition that it so richly deserves. Ahhh.....well. Better late than never, Trevor!
Thom Bell doing his genius Philly Soul orchestration in fusion with Elton John!!!!! Just how on earth did two absolute geniuses NOT BE IN FOREVER COLLABORATIONS? WTF? Perfection if there ever was!!!!!
Not for me growing up. I remember it charting in 2003 following a re-release coinciding with its inclusion in a Sky Sports advert. I was young at that time. The song is good by itself, but it's not as underrated as some people think.
No it's not: simple words, simple rhythm, lot of repetition, typical "black rhythms", average singing, dance song. opposite to this song is iron maidens phantom of the opera: th-cam.com/video/t5jaRipA5_M/w-d-xo.html
That song was originally recorded in 1977, but wasn't released until two years later where it only got to a miserly No42 in the UK charts. In 2003, it was remixed slightly and reissued, when it finally got the recognition it deserved by going all the way to No1.
Hit number 1 in the UK 14 years ago today (31st August 2003) - Elton is still the only artist in UK chart history to have more number ones with re-released songs than with songs on their first release out!
This Smoothing Intro!!!🥇💔 ✏ 🎼 🎤 🎸 📯 I Never Can Get It Out Of My Head Remembering Former Good Times!!! Catch A Star!!! 🌟 💪 Eltons Most Underrated Song! 1979
Never heard the song before... what a pleasant surprise. I think it's cute, and I can tell the old footage is genuine. Was delighted to hear the Spinners helped Elton on the collaboration. Great work for sure.
Best Song .. Elton .. one of the most biggest Songwriter!! I’ve listened to the records of my older sister and without to know who is singing I started to love the songs from Elton 😊👍
Very underrated song, even though I listened to Elton songs since 1978, I only learnt about this amazing songs a few yrs ago! Part-time love is another one!
Came here via Bassist Bob Babbitt's fan page. Bob was a legendary Motown Funk Brother on this tune. He went east after Motown left Detroit and played many sessions for Thom Bell and many other top artists/producers.
This is a perfect track . 👋🏽🎸
This song makes me feel so happy

Eltons Most Underrated Song! 1979
I call this my catch a star song. I remember this from 1979. Just fabulous!
This is my favorite death metal song
Heavier than Cannibal Corpse
Great blastbeats
Even more brutal and agressive than Altar, Rotting Christ and Deicide \m/
I read this, looked at the screen and saw the rainbow 2:12

Danke für diesen schönen Mitreisenden Song Musik lässt einem das Herz aufgehen also egal wie alt bist du bereit für die Liebe
Absoloutly brilliant
great song
From late 70’s and became a huge U.K. hit for Elton in 2003. US radio largely ignored it :(
Go figure
I don’t know why... but this feels really nostalgic
It's a 70's tune
Never heard the song before... what a pleasant surprise. I think it's cute, and I can tell the old footage is genuine. Was delighted to hear the Spinners helped Elton on the collaboration. Great work for sure.
One of those automatic feel good songs ty for the music ❤Elton John & Bernie Taupan
