You can easily get an elven speaking pawn at the beggining, you can summon Rook, the guy that was with you on the griffin, by going to the summon history.
or just give flowers to one of the elves (easiest is the elven innkeeper) 2 days in a row.. she will give you the manual to teach your pawn to speak elvish.
Elvish pawns are easy to find in the official pawn section and if you give the innkeeper flowers 2-3 days in a row she will give you a book that makes your pawn speak elvish.

@@butcher5247 check out the guide by a channel called Boomstick Gaming that they put out yesterday, he shows a bunch of awesome stuff you can do like that which the game doesn't explain. I love hidden little tricks like these
Works on ogres and Minotaurs too from my experience, you don’t need to grab them if you’re a warrior tho, there’s a really cool ability combo that knocks them on their asses.
Thief and Mages can also get over those large gaps, mages can levitate and thiefs have an ability which works like a double jump in midair. It's neat how different classes can handle traversal differently.
A warrior pawn can throw you if you are light enough. Keep in mind that your on-hand backpack weight affects the effectiveness of the throw. Found that out today!
Another tip, this game lets you use certain armor/clothing as disguises. So for anyone stuck on the magistrate quest that takes you to the jails, you can buy a set of armor called “Marcher’s Armor” from the potion shop. If you’re wearing that armor in the jails, the guards think you’re one of them and won’t attack. I’m not sure if there are any other uses similar to this yet but it is a cool feature.
bro that finally explains it, i got put in jail just before i bought that armor set i literally opened the door with a jail key and walked straight past the same guards who arrested me seconds earlier
Pro tip for beginners just starting. At the 1st rift you can hire up to lvl 10 pawns for free. Just touch the rift crystal while in the rift and click on official pawns. Then you can run around and your pawns will slay everything till you get past lvl 10.

Number 1. The game didn't tell you it'd have 21 microtransactions in a singleplayer game at launch. Edit: The people bending backwards to defend the honor of Capcom is kind of hilarious
All of which you absolutely do not need but have the option to pay for if you want to speed things up. Everything is able to be acquired in the game through playing normally.
Word of advice, your levels are tied to your job, so all the levels you've adquires go to mag-res, if you want to build yourself a bertter character then prioritize changing jobs to a better version as fast as you can and level up with them. Change jobs if you want to boost a dedicated stats, because if you end building a fighter/warrior at the end your strenght stats will be lower than that of your pawns.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Seto Kaiba once resisted being disintegrated by magic through sheer ego. Because, "There are no limits when you're as brilliant as Seto Kaiba."
I like how all these TH-camrs explicitly stated “there is no hand holding in this game, including no objective markers” like that yellow diamond telling you exactly were to go is literally the opposite of what yall said 😂.
Like in the first game? they mark a "aproximate location" and most ofthen than not you have to read the quest description since it tells you what to look for explecitly.
There's a feature in the game where exclamation marks appear on the map and sometimes I'm able to take care of them and other times i literally can't see what this is supposed to draw my attention to. I climb the mountain, i go up the stairs, i check out the river bank, but the exclamation mark won't go away and i can't see what I'm supposed to be looking for. I understand when there are locked doors tho, but the others I'm unaware of.
Typically the exclamation marks appear wherever one of your pawns points something out, so just listen to the dialogue and it should tell you what you’re looking for.
I have a similar issue and I suspect it's related to something my pawns have seen. I hit 'Go', but sometimes they don't seem to do anything so I just ignore it on the minimap.
sometimes they're seekers tokens lying on the floor or the edge of a cliff or wedged between a wall. Gotta really keep your eyes peeled. Other times they're alternate entrances or cave systems
Im 3 hours into this game and I must say I LOVE IT!!!! exploring is fun, combat is slick! I just dont understand why theres no lock on? 😕 oh well still plays good, i have much to learn and can tell the team who made this , did an amazing job. Game of the year condender for sure. Beautiful world and graphics , cool armor and weapons etc. Keep in mind im only 3 hours in 😅
There IS a soft lock-on! Your character automatically targets the nearest enemy and you can switch targets by flicking the joystick if you're using a controller. Not sure how that would work with the KB & mouse for PC though... (I know it has already been days since you posted this comment but might be helpful for newer players who read this)
@@chronicxhistories True, the fps you get (and the optimization in general) is poor, and IMO is really holding the game back. It's unfortunate that they released the game in such a state, but we can only hope for continued dev support to finally update the game to a state playable to all.
there is multiple ways to get yourself across those broken bridges.. a few vocations have dash attacks, (save the game in case you miss) then jump across before you start to fall hit a dash attack and you should make it... you can also use the pawn commands "go" or "to me" to encourage your pawns to jump across, but sometimes they fail, or find another way. (you can also grab them, then throw them across) if you are a magic archer you can throw a pawn off a cliff, shoot them with a revive arrow, then once they are up, if you jump down to them they SHOULD catch you. (again i suggest saving before you jump)
The smaller you are the easier it is to climb up monsters Also if you on one side of a river and want to get to the other side if there’s a harpy nearby grab it while it’s flying and steer it over the river It can save you time and don’t worry about pawns they tp to you
About Microtransactions, doesn't most Capcom single player games have that like re and dmc with red orbs, street fighter is online but it has the same amount of optional ingame currency to purchase
The point is disclosure; they didn't say anything about it until the day of and they probably paid reviewers not to talk about since a few of them knew it was a thing beforehand. Less people would've cared if they announced it ahead of time.
@rokudodamaza Yeah Capcom always does that crap but honestly I find nothing wrong with it. They never sell anything you "need" and it's never in your face as well. I understand people being annoyed by it but it's always overblown.
The first game had you chase someone down too. I'm not sure the combat feels as good as the first game yet... I need to play more. I love that they still have the guy who makes forgeries for you!
I disagree, the moment I started the game the combat felt better in every single way. The big reason I stopped playing ddda was because of the combat being mid. Yeah I know it's from 2012 but that's not when I played it and I judge it by today's standard. Dd2 is an improvement in every way and does not warrant a reason to replay the original
@@fxfranktga8775 a lot is better. but many of the changes make it feel worse for me. only having 4 abilities instead of 8? the archer is much less smooth, for example, knocking an arrow then putting it away just to knock a new arrow whenever activating a skill, and several other things. cant throw flasks at enemy's anymore, (unrelated, but removing the other flask mechanics sucks) making curatives not restore max health anymore has them near useless, aside from when their way overpowered by healing at 0 health with blueberry. etc etc. i like the game, im over 30 hours in, but.. ya know?
@@VarioustinglesASMR no I understand. I'm currently 50 hours in and I do agree some stuff could be better. Especially the archer having to knock a new arrow for an ability.
People shit on the microtransactions, but in reality, the only people that knew about them were the ones that looked for them on purpose. I didnt even know of them before a video I watched a couple days ago, and I'm currently working on my endings with over 72 hours played. Its not "defending Ubisoft's honor", its defending an enjoyable game with little micro transactions, especially compared to other games.
One thing it doesn't tell you is if you want to create a new character you have to go to your system save file and delete the entire save.. at least the original you could do it from the main menu.. not this time😱
I'm playing the original right now. No you cannot create new character without replacing the older one in the first game either. One save file, the same. In both game you can still change the character look by buying an item from an RC vendor. Now you can do character edit from main menu. Do research before complaining.
@@mikeoakeshart3823 lol.. I've played the original too.. maybe you should reread my comment before you try and insult me. What I said was you can delete your current character from the main menu on the original game. And you cannot do that with the sequel you have to go to your systems save files and delete it there.
Even if I don't play a lot of archer at first, I will eventually. And I will not leave any stone unturned. I'm going to complete every corner of the map.
Despite the micro transactions controversy and the reoccurring issues with performace… I’ve actually been having a lot a fun with this game. It’s a shame that the launch was ruined by poor optimization and the lack of simple quality of life options like a new game option.
Performance issues aside, capcom seems to have a long running habit of releasing great games with wildly pointless weirdass microtransactions. They're gross as hell but luckily very easy to ignore.
Game has New Game+. You can also make a brand new save by deleting your save file. I’ve restarted 3 times already as a whole new character because I either didn’t like his run animations, his voice, or I ruined my pawn’s look.
@@UnchainedfulYou do know you can change all that in game right? Granted for a price. You can buy the Art of Metamorphosis book from the pawn guild guy in Vernworth. But thats more for if your hours into the game and dont wanna restart over. No shame in deleting your save from the start though, i did the same hah. *EDIT: made this comment before they brought it up in the vid haha, so i get what you were saying :)
I’ve played this game through many times now, trying different Arisen/main pawn variations. There are certain quests I’ve simply learned how to avoid because they have no good outcomes or they are just not worth the effort of doing. The Beggars tale is one. I did that once and I avoid it now. Other quests I don’t like but they are unavoidable, like “the jadeite orb” quest. When you get to the Rest town, a Beastran NPC will confront you, and you can’t avoid him or ignore him. You’re forced into this quest and there’s no good ending to it. The only good part about it is, depending on how you decide to finish this quest, you’ll get an elite camping kit from the Beastran.
Your pawns current level and layout is only updated staying at an inn. If you get your pawn to level 9 and stay in the house from now on your pawn will only be lvl9 for other players. Have to periodically save at the inn to upgrade them for everyone else.
I’m so glad to hear the Art of Metamorphosis is back. Back in D’sD1 one of my favorite things to do were what I called “cospawns.” I sent pawns out into the Rift in the form of Jessica Albert, the Sorceress, Amazon and Elf, Geralt of Rivia, Letho of Gulet, Sister Hammer, and Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. Looking forward to the fun.
Played dragon's Dogma on my ps5 for 5 hours straight, never ran into a performance issue, loving the game right now. Didn't even know about the microtransactions, but most of them are optional.
Glad you're having fun but the performance issues are real and the shadow drop of microtransactions post review was as scummy as it gets. Enjoy your heavy ass tent and inability to fast travel at will unless you want to cough up some more money.
@@_Smarf_ no game has the ability to fast travel at will, but yeah I understand it's scummy, apparently they did same microtransaction with previous game.
@@caio5987 Yeah, just what I was thinking. The original(DA, not the OG original, but that was a MUCH requested feature) had the Eternal ferrystone, allowing you to fast travel at will, with the use of port crystals, that extends to five places. On New Game+, it's 10 places. DD2 doesn't have the Eternal ferrystone, nor NG+ afaik.
You know, I wouldn't mind the fast travel thing, but they gave us the Eternal Ferrystone in Dark Arisen and the devs made a big talk about it and making 'travel fun' and I saw some people talking up the 'hardcore' aspects of it, but as an avid DD fan, I knew it would suck. It turned out all this time they planned MTX for it. That, combined with the light MTX tents really rub me the wrong way, because weight has been one of my quiet grumbles with the first game. I have three Augment slots alone and Armour pants that reduce my weight and stamina mangement in the first game because I play as archer classes. It's a gigantic pain in the ass, having to use my pawns as essentially pack mules. They didn't really address those issues, but they saw it fit to remedy some issues with MTX, fucking thanks man.
"Um ackstually, ☝️🤓 in the first game there's a couple of quests where you have to grab a guy running away." Jokes aside they also don't tell you to press the Grab button iirc
I'm actually playing the first game for the first time right now (came across the info for the second game last month and someone said it might be helpful to play part 1 first for background info), so it's fresh in my mind (had a grab mission literally yesterday). They did say to "catch them" before they left town. In the mission itself, the grab key wasn't specifically mentioned, but a bit earlier in the game they did say you could grab like the big rocks + explosive barrels and mentioned the grab key then. So just a case of putting two and two together (though if you don't pay attention to the tutorial parts, I guess it would be more difficult to figure out then).
I thought I was going to merc the guy when I tackled him as an assassin because my character judo rolled him and grabbed his head and slammed into the ground. lmao
Huh? Digital Foundry just showed a video where the PC is outperforming consoles, especially in the town. Why would you expect a console to run the game better than a high performance PC?
I don't want to negate anyone's opinion but I've been enjoying an old school rpg that doesn't hold my hand and I haven't had any real big performance issues and I'm playing on a laptop with a 3060. I didn't even realize there were microtransactions until I saw reviews. I hate microtransactions with a passion but I'm pretty sure these are completely optional and it's not a looter so you're not at any disadvantage if you completely ignore them.
Same boat, Have actually been enjoying the game so far and seeing all the pawns made by other players has been pretty cool, Just a shame about the greedy practices ruining the games rep. Hope you continue to play amd enjoy your game 👍
@8:30 So much of this game echoes the first. which is great. essentially anything you would've figured out in that game will be in this game again. So many references from the first.
In regards to that? Probably none. One of DD core mechanics was making fake duplicates of key items. It even plays a huge role in the story, with Solomet's Grimoire lmao First time playing DD?
Dude, Falcon and the editor are way ahead of the other DD2 vídeos I have been watching. Like way better!!! Just shocked after watching 10 videos from other normal channels.

There's another way to the sphinx that's much easier. If you follow the lanterns through misty marshes, the foggy area northwest of harve village on the map. You'll find an abandoned village. Near the back of the village are some rocks you can climb. These lead to a short canyon you can go through to get to the sphinx.

It was like that in the first game, apparently it's something to do with the how that shit works with the pawn system or whatever. But plenty have been ranting about how 1 save slot is stupid af for the past decade
Capcom greased the wheels of US reviewers very well this time. Capcom flew some over for free for early previews (apparently including free fancy dinner). The same Capcom that doesn't invite you a second time if they notice you gave a bad score the last time. And reviewers wonder why no one trusts them anymore.
#7 do the side quest in the Silent Arbor to learn Elfish for your pawn , cant believe ya didn't say anything about that, Riddle 5 with Sphinx be sure you remember where you picked up your first seeker token .
It will never cease to amaze me how people will talk themselves into accepting predatory business practices just because they are hyped for a game. The fact that they have micro transactions isn’t great but the fact that they added them after review copies went out is wild and incredibly gross.
They did this with RE4, 2, 3, and almost every game they have made. People do no care because you get all these items in the game. Doesn’t seem like a big deal to me as it’s entirely avoidable.
@@NowhereSam673 nope it did not, no one seemed to have even cared lol. Same thing with RE2 and 3, even added the ability to cheat with an Mtx and get all the weapons that are hard to get with a simple purchase.
Guys, the reason Falcon isn't talking about the microtransactions is because these videos are ADVERTISEMENTS. Game companies pay gameranx to make these videos to sell more copies of the game. Falcon and Jake aren't your buddies, they're not "regular game dudes". They're a part of the industry trying to sell you a product.
Doesn't matter. This game is so CPU heavy it would make no difference. Capcom says they're investigating, but they knew this was an issue because they turned the fidelity up to max since it has room to as the game weighd on the CPU and not the GPU. This game screams forced, rushed release imo. Feels like upper management wanted this out before the end of their fiscal year.
Hey quick design change question on controller. I think we should be able to use the key pad for specific weapon skills of the three pawns. 3 buttons on the key pad can be the party members and if u press a party member (just alternating titles in the keypad ui spot) there should be where you can pick a weapon skill thats equipped in their arsenal. Hec even put a cooldown to go asking for a specific weapon skill from your pawn. And the last keypad button can pull up the commands we have already help, go, etc. Thoughts?
Not just microtransactions. The fact Capcom witheld this right until the second the game released. And the fact these microtransactions include port crystals while simultaniously making it a pita to get anywhere in game without them. All the while the Japanese Capcom developers claimed travel had to be meaningful, while selling fast travel as a side hustle. Disgusting, Capcom goes straight down the list of most vile gaming companies for me.

Microtransactions they kept 100% quiet on until the second the game launched and they suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
I wonder if this game also has the level up system. For those who don't know in Dragon Dogma one your class dictated your level up stats (if you're a mage your mag would go up, if you're a warrior your strenght would go up) which is reasonable. However, if you spend your entire first 50 levels as a mage and shift to a warrior your strenght would be subpar, min maxing here is what class to level up until when to make yourself the best version. So you can level up as a warrior at the start and change to an archer to get the strenght buff and have the range option (same with mage and magic archer) Depends of the build but if it's like that then i'd recomend mapping the levels (you can reach level 200) and how you want your stats to go up, and change the adecuated jobs for the better highter ups jobs.
I've both heard and seen that it does, but to a lesser extent than the first game. Your character's stats have one level, while your vocation and equipment have their own separate stats that adds onto your base stats when they are equipped. Your base stats seems to level up fairly evenly across the board and I've heard that they eventually cap out, meaning everyone will have the same stats after a certain level. While vocation and equipment stats can/will be switched by changing what class you're playing. Assuming they're playing the same vocations, at a certain level all warriors should have the same strength stat regardless of what class they played beforehand. Same with the stats for the other vocations.

The fact you called the microtransactions “horrendously egregious” just shows how ignorant you are to the game, and you’ve definitely never played it. Stop basing your opinions on miserable complainers on the internet.
1. You can easily earn them in-game just by playing. Just like every game that Capcom has released since microtransations were a thing. 2. This is true and should be addressed instead of the completely optional microtransations with no significant impact to the core gameplay whatsoever. 3. It's a part of the first game and was fully disclosed by the devs months before the release.

@@SojiFro_0Kind of. And in DD1, making money is really, REALLY hard) In Dark Arisen (paid DLC) they gave you eternal ferry stones (so I guess in a sense, they sold you the ability to fast travel). True, one of the things I was confused about during my play time. 100% lmao😂
Yeah but most of the time it shows you a general area and it’s like figure it out
You will no doubt come across quite a few quests where you wish there was such an indicator but there isn't.
Like in the first game? they mark a "aproximate location" and most ofthen than not you have to read the quest description since it tells you what to look for explecitly.
Have you even played the game? Quite a few of the quests relies on you figuring out what to do yourself.
Might be a cave or something underground when you are above ground. It doesn't tell you the elevation just the location. Look for a cave nearby.
Sometimes they say there's a chest but it's already been opened
Im 3 hours into this game and I must say I LOVE IT!!!! exploring is fun, combat is slick! There IS a soft lock-on! Your character automatically targets the nearest enemy and you can switch targets by flicking the joystick if you're using a controller. Not sure how that would work with the KB & mouse for PC though...

(you can also grab them, then throw them across)
if you are a magic archer you can throw a pawn off a cliff, shoot them with a revive arrow, then once they are up, if you jump down to them they SHOULD catch you. (again i suggest saving before you jump)
The smaller you are the easier it is to climb up monsters
Also if you on one side of a river and want to get to the other side if there’s a harpy nearby grab it while it’s flying and steer it over the river
It can save you time and don’t worry about pawns they tp to you

@@fxfranktga8775 a lot is better. but many of the changes make it feel worse for me. only having 4 abilities instead of 8? the archer is much less smooth, for example, knocking an arrow then putting it away just to knock a new arrow whenever activating a skill, and several other things. cant throw flasks at enemy's anymore, (unrelated, but removing the other flask mechanics sucks) making curatives not restore max health anymore has them near useless, aside from when their way overpowered by healing at 0 health with blueberry. etc etc. i like the game, im over 30 hours in, but.. ya know?

Performance issues aside, capcom seems to have a long running habit of releasing great games with wildly pointless weirdass microtransactions. They're gross as hell but luckily very easy to ignore.

There's another way to the sphinx that's much easier. If you follow the lanterns through misty marshes, the foggy area northwest of harve village on the map. You'll find an abandoned village. Near the back of the village are some rocks you can climb. These lead to a short canyon you can go through to get to the sphinx.
i finding it very hard to determine whether or not people like this game
Remember Dogma 1 Dark Arisen, yea that game that allowed you to change appearance of your character, or pawn for free in the main menu
You can change it for free, you can either pay gold in the barber or use rift crystals..
No you couldn't lol you still needed to get the art of metamorphosis item, there were two versions. One is a one time use and later you unlock the unlimited use version
You haven't played the game have you? It's not easy even in DD1

Easy way to find a pawn with woodland wordsmith is just browse the pawn list in the rift, i think the basic capcom pawns have one pretty reliably
lol, not gonna mention any of the elephants in the room?
Capcom greased the wheels of US reviewers very well this time. Capcom flew some over for free for early previews (apparently including free fancy dinner). The same Capcom that doesn't invite you a second time if they notice you gave a bad score the last time. And reviewers wonder why no one trusts them anymore.

@@GrimAbstractwhen mtx were added to re4 last year I remember the game getting review bombed too no?
@@NowhereSam673 nope it did not, no one seemed to have even cared lol. Same thing with RE2 and 3, even added the ability to cheat with an Mtx and get all the weapons that are hard to get with a simple purchase.

DMC5 remains Overwhelmingly Positive despite having the same stuff.

All the fake ass bandwagon "gamers" are already crying their fake outrage that their NPC download told them hate. Losers.
Doesn't matter. This game is so CPU heavy it would make no difference. Capcom says they're investigating, but they knew this was an issue because they turned the fidelity up to max since it has room to as the game weighd on the CPU and not the GPU. This game screams forced, rushed release imo. Feels like upper management wanted this out before the end of their fiscal year.
love it! Imma keep playing now.
Thoughts?
Thanks guys
Does no one else think Falcon sounds like he's had one too many before recording? I dig it.
As a non native english speaker I sometimes had difficulty understanding him. Is it funny? Yes! But also a little bit annoying.
That's just Falcon
Hopefully you guys address the micro transactions
Not just microtransactions. The fact Capcom witheld this right until the second the game released. And the fact these microtransactions include port crystals while simultaniously making it a pita to get anywhere in game without them. All the while the Japanese Capcom developers claimed travel had to be meaningful, while selling fast travel as a side hustle. Disgusting, Capcom goes straight down the list of most vile gaming companies for me.
@@sophieedel6324read into what the micro transactions even do before spouting nonsense. You can easily obtain what they do ingame and they give you no advantage whatsoever. Besides, they were present in the first game and in all Capcom games. Stop being an npc and just rambling about shit you dont even know. Complain about things that actually matter, like the shit performance.
just don't buy any and earn it in the game not a big deal
@@CarlosSantos-yu1ciNot having an easy way to start a new file/character but having the metamorphosis micro transactions being nice and available sure *_seems_* like a scummy choice.
@@CarlosSantos-yu1ciWhy don't you stop lying like all the useless fanboys? Port crystals are incredibly rare, I had managed to find JUST FOUR total near the end of the game, FOUR. These give you limited travel. Meanwhile Capcom is running a side hustle selling them through microtransactions. The same Capcom who said they made travel "meaningful" in the spirit of the game, while in reality doing it to stimulate sales of them through microtransacitons.

Capcom really went to the dark side with this one
@@Seth748 This is literally how DD1 was.
You had to walk everywhere, and port crystals were super rare, fast travel was not really a mechanic in the game. I'mma go on a limb here and assume neither of you played DD1 or Dark Arisen, and if you did, couldn't have been more than 15 minutes.
@@FlyzoolaDid DD1 or Dark Arisen sell fast travel microtransactions?
This is a genuine question.
By all means, make us walk everywhere in your game. But removing a feature even for a partial reason of selling it back to us as dlc?
Kind of scummy. There’s no way around it.
@@SojiFro_0Kind of. DD1 had like 4 port crystals for the whole map (meaning only four points you could fast travel to) and the ferrystones were super limited for any given playthrough given the fact that they were extremely expensive (20,000G per stone, that's as much as buying a house in this game. And in DD1, making money is really, REALLY hard) In Dark Arisen (paid DLC) they gave you eternal ferry stones (so I guess in a sense, they sold you the ability to fast travel). They never removed a feature, because fast travel has never been a feature of DD, so much as it is a feature of MOST* open world games. In any case, they implemented a feature that goes against the project vision, and more than likely the higher ups are the ones implementing it.
@@SojiFro_0DD1 had the same microtransactions. Nothing here is new with CapCom and there is always an unlimited use thing to find from questing or exploring. CapCom has done the same shit with Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter.
