ENGLISH LYRICS
I hear the mountain birds
The sound of rivers singing
A song I've often heard
It flows through me now
So clear and so loud
I stand where I am
And forever I'm dreaming of home
I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home
It's carried in the air
The breeze of early morning
I see the land so fair
My heart opens wide
There's sadness inside
I stand where I am
And forever I'm dreaming of home
I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home
This is no foreign sky
I see no foreign light
But far away am I
From some peaceful land
I'm longing to stand
A hand in my hand
... forever I'm dreaming of home
I feel so alone, I'm dreaming of home.
FRENCH LYRICS
J'entends les oiseaux de montagnes,
la musique de la rivière chantante.
Une chanson que j'ai souvent entendu,
elle me traverse maintenant,
Je me sens si seul,
Je me sens si seul
Je rêve de chez moi.
Je ne vois aucun ciel étranger.
Je ne vois aucune lumière étrangère.
Mais je suis loin.
As I listen to this song I'm lying on the ground watching the stars.
I'm crying because it makes me think about my great-grandfather Samuel-Jules Delacour (I'm French) who survived the First World War and came back broken. He must have seen so much horrible things and he died before my birth so I never got to speak to him. Two of his brothers died on the no man's land. Who knows where their body are. This war took away a lot of my family. Only 7 of us wears our name today (3 men and 4 women).
I hope in those dark times Samuel had moments of joy.
Then when he had a son, my grandfather Jacques Delacour, the Second World War took him but he survived and came home again. He had two sons one of them is my dad Michel who had three children and the last of them is me Rhianna Delacour. I'm proud of my name which is for me synonym of courage and hope. If these men didn't have the faith of surviving theses wars, the death of their brothers and friends, I wouldn't be there to talk about it. The bravery of these men and their suffering should never be forgotten.
I hope where they are they dream of home and are not alone.
Hi Rihanna I saw your post please accept my sincere sympathise for the loss of your family members

No more wars between us my European brothers!
Germany, France and Great Britain share a history full of alliances and wars with and against each other. Our (European) history is the best history on our world. We had so much bloody and useless wars in the past on European ground. Now we have to stay strong together like brothers and fight those who want to destroy our peace and our Europe!!! Love from Germany ♥
+random german Amen Brother
Good luck with that, I fear a large element in the UK would love nothing more than to go to war with Europe, it's like a cancer growing over here. At least in the next war you folks will be the good guys, so there's that.
they (Germany) were the good guys last time. look how everything has gone on since ww2. most people know if they really looked at it we (allies) fought the wrong enemy.
hey Germany
Einar Gednochsson philippines is the only christian nation here in asia. God bless us.

My dad used to sing this song as my grandad fought in the first world war. In Belgium. My grandad used to sing it to my dad and his brothers and sister. It just brings tears to your eyes.
Eyes blurred with tears is always the result of listening to this song. Thanx.
My uncle who survived the second World War, would sing this when he was drunk bless him, when I was a kid, he never spoke of the horrors of war so much and he was decorated with medals so he definitely seen action. He pased in 2002 at 89 I really miss him 💔 and this has brought a nostalgic trear to my eye 😢 💕 🏴 god bless ♥

Greetings from Germany and Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas from Indonesia.
So many nationalities gave their lives in Flanders fields. It's breathtaking, how quite it is in the fields were they fell, and the Cemeteries they rest. You're home now continue to rest in peace.
Respect from France
Merci
I’m just vibing with these Scottish people from Australia 🇦🇺 🏴
I'm Belgian, and the war is very important here, especially in Ypres. A great-granduncle of mine got killed in action during the First World War. The pocketwatch he had on him when he died is now a family heirloom and the one who has it now is my dad, so I might get it next and I'm definitely going to treasure it. I thank all the brave people who fought in this war, wether they died (honourably) or not. :)
Dieu te bénisse, toi et ta famille. Bénédictions du Brésil.
@@rahzoriel2103 Thanks. :) I don't speak French though (not religious either, but I appreciate the sentiment either way), but it's nice you tried to speak my language. I'm a Dutch-speaking Belgian. 60% of Belgians speak Dutch, about 40% speak French. ;)
@@FanFictionneer Oh okay then. God zegent jou en je familie. Groeten uit Brazilië.
@@rahzoriel2103 I didn't mean I really wanted you to try and use my language instead, though I really appreciate the effort. Thank you ^^
@@FanFictionneer I have a great great grandfather who is from Leigh and settled in the northeastern part of the country. All those in my country who use the Portuguese variant of Von der Leigh (Wanderley) are related. So I have my source of appreciation for the Lowlands and Frisians. Your language is beautiful as almost all European languages, and wish I could learn those who are going extinct or not being used to preserve them.
May all the fallen of ww1 regardless of nationality rest in peace
God bless all of you who serve abroad, near and far. We dream of home, come home safe, come home soon!
I tear every time I hear this, reminds me of home & the people who fought for future freedom.

Not many tunes here make me cry? This is 1. Made me think of my great uncle who served in ww2....thank you all.
I remember when Paul McCartney made his video "Pipes of Peace" which depicted the WWI truce. When I first saw this video in 1982, I had no idea that such a thing had ever occurred. I asked my mum about it since she was born and raised in Northern Ireland if this were true and she told me that her grandfather (who fought in the war) had mentioned something about a truce on many fronts during the first year of the war but the school she attended never mentioned anything about it. Thus I knew that such things occurred during that war but could not independently verify it until this film came out, more than 20 years after the McCartney video.
Aye, the Christmas day truce had folks from all nations playing football and swapping gifts of tobacco and coffee, until the leaders found out and ordered all men to return to their trenches. It just goes to show that it's the elites that always want war, not the everyday folk.
God bless our men,my great-grandfather was fighting in world war 1 and he was a Serbian, still if we serbs dont have anything in touch with the christmass ally between Germans and British still this is a very heart melting song,i always cry when i hear it because i always think of every men who fought in war for their country and their king, who sacrificed their lives so we could walk on this cruel world, bless every men who fought in it and lets never fight again we are all brothers, next time if war starts we will fight side by side.Love to all you brothers and peace!

In 2014, on St.Michaels-day Scottish, French, English and German Soldiers sung this Song together in Schweinfurt/Germany. It was a sign of brotherhood and frienship in Europe...

As a French, it really breaks my heart knowing so many Europeans killed each other during all those wars on our continent. I wish only love, respect and prosperity to my fellow German, British, Belgium and other EU countries. EU isn't perfect yes but together and with diplomacy we can reach the stars and beyond 🙏❤.

I’m dreaming of better days. I’m dreaming of my father. May he Rest In Peace. I love and miss you daddy. I know I’ll see you again. Dreaming of home.

I was there for the re-dedication. It was a humbling experience to see the grounds and the names of the men that fought and died there.

Polskie dosłowne tłumaczenie:Słyszę ptaki górskie
Szum rzeki śpiewa
Piosenka Często słyszałem
Przepływa przez mnie teraz
Tak jasne i tak głośno
Stoję gdzie jestem
I zawsze marzę o domu
Powiew poranka
Widzę ziemia tak sprawiedliwe
Moje serce otwiera się szeroko
Jest smutek wewnątrz
Stoję gdzie jestem
I zawsze marzę o domu
... Na zawsze marzę o domu
Czuję się tak samo, marzę o domu.
May you translate please ! Thanks !

The song is an older song that's been around forever and although it's occasionally been misplaced by time, it gets rediscovered exactly as it was before being misplaced by time which I guess means it was placed on earth by God who offers reminders from time to time

i Say on this day, a fine day with the sun shining and a cloud at our back, throw a wave to the lighthouse keepers son, pull up the anchor, and drop the sails, now we are a scotish fisherman. i tell thee SCOTLAND LIVES.
I don't understand your comment or how it is connected to the theme of Remembrance Day, the Battle of Vimy Ridge, or the Christmas Truce.
Eternal memory to all, who fight in this battle

No more brother war. Two times was more than enough.
Sadly, third times the charm
My godfather taught me that song (he's Scottish & I'm British-Asian), and I've been singing it wherever there's a battlefield in Ukraine.
nice
my grandma came over to swizerland during the war and the stories she tells me...
war is so unnessecery
Merry Xmas America ,,,,,You were late twice .
my great grandfathers, my grandfathers and my fathers all thought in the wars, they have now all perished for the pile of crap we have now, they would turn in their graves if they see the state of the world today, what a shame
I prefer this beautiful arrangement and general style of ceremony over the 100th anniversary ceremony which I felt was too much like a concert.
RESPECT... No more comment...
Moving.. slightly ruined by that girl singing, I'm quite sure she cannot hear herself, but beautiful indeed

It was the first "modern" war and the last in which ordinary soldiers, pilots and junior officers on all sides behaved in a chivalrous way☝️ 😘. Honor memory to those who died for the stupidity and bad decisions of the generals😔. Happy Holidays to all veterans👍🏻, keep we'll meet someday☝️👍🏻( 1 World War)
What do they know a Canadian Soldier just dreaming of of Home?
