    Great video, I love it when people shed light on minor characters like Chang’e and her husband who we know exist in Touhou but have little information on.

    Fantastic video! I think the Lunarian's history is very fascinating. Here are a few things I thought I might weigh in on:
    1) While it is uncertain if Tsukuyomi is a god, the end of SSiB does mention "Tsukuyomi's sister" who is somehow related to the sun. So I think it's very fair to assume that this sister is Amaterasu, and Tsukuyomi is a god.
    2) The lunar capital is implied in many ways to be Tian of Daoism. This would explain why Chang'e is a prisoner of the Lunarians, as her husband Hou'Yi killed the sons of the Jade Emporer (implied to be the husband of Junko). Add to this that ZUN has explained out-of-universe that the Moon is an analogue for China, similarly to how Hell is an analogue for the US (thanks ZUN, really feeling the overseas love). If this is the case, then it is fair to classify all Lunarians as being deities, or at the very least, lesser deities. I think Lunarian lore lends itself to the theory that some Lunarians were always gods, like Tsukuyomi and Eirin (implied to be the Omoikane), while others were humans who ascended to godlike status through purification.
    3) There are also implied to be connections between the Lunarians and the dragons, which are also heavenly gods. The Watatsukis, for example, are inspired by the daughters of Watatsumi, which is one of three dragon gods in ancient Japanese mythology. In addition, Cage in Lunatic Runagate confirms that the legend of Urashimako is true, and that he did not visit the temple of the dragons, but instead visited the Lunar Capital. There is definitely some connection, but we are not sure what it is yet. So if Lunarians are dragons, or at least descended from dragons, I think in that case it is also fair to classify them as gods.
    4) I think a lot of the disdain for Lunarians comes from a disdain for the Watatsukis specifically. Cage in Lunatic Runagate gets a lot of heavy criticism for being a dry or boring read, and Silent Sinner in Blue is often called "slow" or "poorly paced". To some extent, I think I would agree with those sentiments. I personally think that Eirin would have been a more interesting antagonist to explore in SSiB. I've also seen some fans say that their view on the Lunarians is somewhat tainted by a handful of very vocal Lunarian fans being somewhat obnoxious.
    I love that more people are making lore content! I'm flattered that you had my videos in mind while creating this, and I'm very happy to inspire others to create. Best of luck with future videos!

      Wow that's alot. Like i said prior im really glad to see someone enjoy my little video and seeing as you cared enough to write this ginormous comment it makes me quite happy. I dont know what's going on but this is the first time im actually hearing about people disliking silent sinner in blue and cage in lunatic runagate. Idk personally i love both ssib and cilr, although i can very easily see other people dislike it since its quite different from everything else touhou related.

    And another thing, I suspect that if Hou Yi and Tsukuyomi are legit Touhou characters, with complete powers, personalities, attack pattern and more, they might easily become Touhou fan’s least favourite characters, if not more accurately, most hated Touhou characters.

    • @fourhashtag89
      @fourhashtag89  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, since touhou fans hate lunarians exclusively because they are lunarians than ye, that would probably happen, but if they instead wanted to use logic and reason to decide they're favourite characters, then Tsukuyomi would probably have quite a bit of fans, seeing as he is a very interesting character even without making an appearance.

      @@fourhashtag89 Yeah, they hate Lunarians blindly seemingly, so I guess they will easily become most hated, surpassing the Watatsuki sisters.
      And I suppose while Tsukuyomi might get fans (but they probably never like him at all) , Hou Yi will be hated absolutely and mercilessly for any possible and petty reasons. (Even though it might be possible that the Junko’s sons her killed might actually be the multiple suns that brutally burn the Earth)

    • @fourhashtag89
      @fourhashtag89  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I feel like touhou fans blindly hate the lunarians because touhou doesn't really have any villains, and so lunarians are the closest thing we will get(even though lunarians are far more lawful and generally good spirited). People want to have something they can hate and i just feel like the watatsuki's are the easiest target.

      @@fourhashtag89 I always think that in Touhou, everyone can be a villain including Reimu, and everyone can be a villain for a curtain story or incident.
      And it sure sounds stupid that the fans literally hate the Lunarians just because they want to find something they hate in Touhou, and now they make themselves look like Junko but probably even more hateful because they probably don’t have any reasons, they hate them just for the sake of it.
      And I think the best things I probably can do is that if I made up those 2 characters, I will make them more nice than how people thought they are.

      Lunarians get attacked on their home and the thing they decide is the sensible course of action to take is to invade and commence a Gensokyan genocide by attempting to purify Gensokyo on LoLK with no regards to anyone whatsoever. That paints a bad image. Doesn't help that they're vastly xenophobic and downright racist towards earthlings, are said to often talk about “destroying humanity”, among others. That and their holier-than-thou attitude might rub some people off. Other than that, they're cool, I guess? I like the sisters, despite them bragging so much. Got a power, got to flaunt it, right?

    • @Archedgar
      @Archedgar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      In Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom (TH15) , the lunarians intended to purge gensokyo (Genocide) in order to transfer their capital from the moon to the earth. To this end, Sagume, Eirin and (indirectly) Chang'e/Jouga set up what are basically magical WMDs across gensokyo to kill/eradicate EVERYTHING. The reason for this is that they were under attack by a powerful army with a goddess (Junko) expertly commanding those forces. Junko's forces were specialized *'anti lunarian'* troops (It's a long story) which the people of the moon could not even engage, let alone defeat. Thus, they were going to retreat but wanted to 'purify'/'cleanse' their destination first. What that means is exterminate absolutely everything there before they arrive, which they had already started doing during the game.
      This act by the lunarians was so vile and grotesque that even Junko was disgusted by their willingness to commit mass murder without hesitation if it suited them. However, the story continually presents the lunarians as being 'in the right' and that was annoying as hell. Sagume & the lunar sage on earth (Eirin) deceived Reimu, Marisa and Reisen to attempt a very desperate hail mary last-second save, which worked and thus the extermination of gensokyo did not happen. Make no mistake though, they were 100% ready & willing to do it even though it would only buy them a little bit of time. There's no reason Junko's forces couldn't follow them to earth.... so buying time at the cost of MASS MURDER. GENOCIDE. Yeah. The lunarians can go F themselves.
      .... also there's Chang'e/Jouga + Hou yi having murdered Junko's son which is pretty messed up too.

    I have a few questions:
    1 Would the Lunarian’s Ally themselves with beings that cause distortion, perhaps even corruption?
    2: somewhat related to the above, if the forces of the Bydo Empire (if you don’t know what the Bydo is here’s a quick rundown (and take it with a grain of salt as i could be wrong)the Bydo empire are the villain’s of the R-Type Franchise, with capabilities of assimilating any matter into their ranks) were to try to invade Touhou’s Earth (Not just Gensokyo but also places underground such as hell), Would they form an Alliance with the Lunarian’s?

    • @uboa8060
      @uboa8060 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They wouldn't. Shinto purity is too important for them, considering that their population relies on it to remain amortal.They'd much sooner evaporate a corrupt, living faction than work with them, let alone wanting to interact with them.
      As for the second question, I don't know because I don't know anything about that franchise, so I can't say.

      I can think of several reasons while not hate the concept, I hate the faction because they have done wrong. Lunarians is because of the "Lunar War". Which wasn't an actual war. It was the time Lunarians sabatoged and caused the injury of countless American astronauts by sabotaging the many Apollo missions and then when the humans landed on the moon, they observed, and when the humans left... they captured the American flag.
      As Touhou roughly follows canon Earth historical events. So no "War" took place with fighting. The incidents like when Apollo 13's electrical systems failed and life support shut down. Though the crew of that one got back to Earth safely historically. Oxygen tank exploded en route to the moon. Apollo 1 had a cabin fire that killed all the crew.
      Apollo 13, "which came so close to tragic disaster, in all probability united the world in mutual concern more fully than another successful landing on the Moon would have"
      Further evidence to my theory is the Lunarians lack a standing army, they likely don't need one. Heck the Wakashimini sisters Sashimi, whatever. Their rabbits looked more like militia level, heck their first encounter with the SDM was to just... run away. I think I can see why their portrayal is either badass soldiers or utter cowards lol. Then again, I think the Lunar Rabbits are more like servants and not soldiers. Though Lunarian guards exist, they seem to mostly handle internal policing and stuff like that.
      Then there's China's Chang'e Program that according to Touhou wiki tried to establish a colony. In real life, Chang'e never established nor attempted such a feat. However, in the 2030s Chang'e plans to try to establish some human presence. A crewed mission, and then plans for a permanent research station on the moon. How the Lunarians reacted to this is unknown.
      But no known fighting took place. They kept the capital hidden and humanity likely never noticed. The only war was kicking over the US flag most likely when the humans left. Yukari's invasion however is implied to have been an invasion. She actually came with a yokai army, though she lost, who knows what happened.
      I saw a fan anime where Yukari was leading youkai to invade the moon. The Lunarian guards had fookin lightsabers. Though we don't know exactly how this invasion occurred either. Only that Yukari lost. I wish I could find that animation, I saw it back in like 2017-2019. It was pretty well made.
      Oh I suppose people may hate that Lunarians are "Pure" and all about purity. And how they seem to be responsible canonically for keeping humanity perpetually in conflict because they fear what a united humanity may accomplish. Hence them creating the youkai and magic, as well as manipulating history as they see fit. Which in a way makes them as hateable as 40k Eldar whom are a bit similar in behavior towards humans, seeing them as nothing more than primitive apes with no sense of beauty nor grace.

    Esto me lo respondio una IA
    La escala de Kardashev mide el grado de evolución tecnológica de una civilización en función de la cantidad de energía que puede utilizar. Se divide en tres tipos principales:
    Tipo I: Utiliza toda la energía disponible en su planeta de origen.
    Tipo II: Aprovecha toda la energía de su estrella.
    Tipo III: Controla la energía a escala galáctica.
    La civilización Lunarian del universo de Touhou es una sociedad avanzada que habita en la Luna y posee tecnología muy superior a la de la Tierra. Según la información oficial, los Lunarian tienen la capacidad de manipular la energía a gran escala, incluyendo la creación de barreras y el control de la naturaleza lunar.
    Basándonos en estas capacidades, los Lunarian podrían situarse entre el Tipo I y Tipo II en la escala de Kardashev. Aunque no hay evidencia de que controlen la energía de su estrella (el Sol), su dominio sobre la energía lunar y su avanzada tecnología sugieren que están más allá del Tipo I, pero no alcanzan completamente el Tipo II
