Things you need to think about and adapt to a culture not western driven.
Be courteous to the culture and walk into it with an open mind and heart.
You'll be fine, just breath and relax.

My fiance is from Samar so I've been to Tacloban City a few times. I found the begging gangs in Tacloban City to be very aggressive also. There is "one" person who covers their face completely and constantly begging and relentlessly so. Very annoying.
I’m finding as time goes on-some recognize you and know not to beg.
