I think you guys look and sound great together! I am in a long term relationship with the Filipina and we are committed to each other and I will be going to visit the Philippines later this year. I think you both need to laugh a little more though!

@@maudave this may be an off-the-wall question, but I don’t hear it asked and answered very often. Do you most restaurants and hotels and malls have toilet paper in the bathrooms?
I travel with T-P. And most public places do not. You can purchase TP mostly everywhere. Good question…

Not sure I’m understanding? I’m not paying them- They work for the city fixing drainage. It would be unfair to compare country differences in currency.

My fiance is from Samar so I've been to Tacloban City a few times. I found the begging gangs in Tacloban City to be very aggressive also. There is "one" person who covers their face completely and constantly begging and relentlessly so. Very annoying.

I have to agree with you about the "grumpy" expats in our area... just a few! Though, after 37 years married to this culture, I can still find something to gripe about. 🤣

When we settled there in 2013, our house was already completed, so we had no major housing cost per se, other than elec. We set our total budget (not income) at $1,600 usd and we lived well with car and motorcycle. Because we cool the entire bungalow-style house 24/7, our electric bills will run from P11,000 to P13,000 per month. Today, it takes about $2,200 to live at that same comfort level and not want for anything (except a good pizza now and then). 🌴😎
I think it depends on needs and wants for sure-getting western culture out of your mind as in, buying material things the costs goes way down for sure. Just loving life is all I can say-it’s a real blessing being in the Philippines for me.
