Winterizing 2019 Tiffin Wayfarer with Truma Hotwater

There's a lot written regarding winterizing the Tiffin Wayfarer, especially when it involves the Truma Hotwater system. This is what I did, please do your own research as I have done. Truma says not to use air pressure or anti-freeze in the heater, yet other's say its ok if low pressure is used and the antifreeze is drained after. Starting with models built after September, Tiffin has in its Wayfarer, updated the Truma with new bypass valves. My Wayfarer began production on October 1st of 2018 and has them installed.

We love the way it handles. More like driving a large automobile. We came from a Tiffin diesel pusher before, which had a great air ride and was quiet up front but the size made us parked more and traveling less. Our plan is to see America and the smaller size of the Wayfarer is perfect. We love the Tiffin products because of the factory customer service and they back up their product.... so that was a no brainer. Previously we also owned gas motorhomes (class C and A) with V10 gas engines and they are loud and just did not handle very well.

Thank you for your feedback. We've been looking at all classes. Currently we have a teardrop, but there is just no room. We love the idea of having twin beds and some kind of dinette, and the Wayfarer has a trifold sofa in case we wanted to bring our grandkids with. We've also been looking at Leisure/Pleasure vans, etc., but they are almost as big as the Wayfarer with less room. You're right, Tiffins customer service can't be beat. Thanks again for your reply.

One question is why do you need the valve by the water pump? Why not just suck the antifreeze into the system by using the city water input and turning on pump?

Tony Kokjohn Good question. The city water connection feeds right into your fresh water tank to fill that tank.. It uses the pressure in your city water hose to fill the fresh water tank. The water pump is fed from the fresh water tank to pressurize the lines when not connected to city water. If you were to put anti freeze in the fresh water tank you could pump it throughout the system, however that would probably require several gallons of anti-freeze.
