If your worry about occ capacity of the rv you don't have to fill the fresh water tank to full and put all your stuff in a trailer or in a vehicle in tow behind the rv! There is a couple of things I wish they would change like having no propane, make the whole rv electric , no stainless steel, no Corian counter top and get rid of that stupid 3 way fridge. If they did those changes it might lower the weight too! Good presentation Neil like always!

Creativity Robin was fortunate enough to uncover a major flaw in the build on her Tiffin. You can see it on her site.
It had to do with the installation of the exterior wiring for the solar system. She's lucky that she averted a fire. And she was smart to have somebody that knew what they were doing fix it, as opposed to taking it back to the dealer, Mesa RV.
You can draw your own conclusions with respect to the quality of the Tiffin build.

Robin had her 400 watts of solar installed by the dealer, not Tiffin. It was the dealer's mess up.
Yes, she thought 400 watts made more sense too. And after market made sense. If you get a good installation! Her repair person did a good kludge that will technically work for years. But it is messy looking on the roof.
As for the security problem of underbed storage, REPLACE those storage locks ASAP. There are much better ones after market. I don't want anyone in my storage, period. Problem solved.

    • @georgek719
      @georgek719 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My error.
Solar was installed by the dealer, Mesa RV.
I think the teachable moment here is, solar is very specialized area and I would only entrust the installation to a solar specialist.

I just purchased this model and although same year, I have different changes… I have reclining seating but there is no middle cup holder arm rest and there isn’t a vent van in bedroom. Twin beds turn into an RV King but the twin beds work perfect for us! I love the storage but I’m concerned about weight so I will have to go to a weigh station and see where I’m at. Thanks for great review.

So they have a flexible gas line running to the refrigerator in the slide. Not real comfortable with that being flexed/bent back and forth each time you move the slide in and out. Not a fan of Norcold refrigerators to start with. I have had 3 of them and every one of them like to frost up and then the ice would melt around the door, thanks to poor insulation in the doors, and water would leak out all over the floor.
Yes, I know I sound like Debbie Downer. But, I have learned to look at things that might break/malfunction when buying something with a high price tag like this. This can save you all kinds of headaches in the future. Plus I spent years as a Quality Assurance inspector so I naturally look for issues in any product.

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

i love that you point out the propane line that's moving in and out with the slide! i should have noticed that! well done! if it were a compressor refrigerator it would not be a problem. well done.

Nice job on the review. Never drop the storage. Can't the suspension be up-graded? Agree, NO venting in shower? Yes, batteries and up grade inverter (pure-sin wave).
Love the head room, love the side opening storage beens. Like that there is room to move with slide in.
Option for patio TV, nice. Hey, add a couple of locks on that storge door, even three? Window coverings? You missed that. MCD would be nice. Large windows in rear. So, larger rear springs, and wheels. Maybe that gives more load. Another battery or two, 2000k inverter. Add a couple solar panels. A couple of nice TVs and you could live with the rest.
    Good job!

Security is always an issue from cheap trailers to expensive motorhomes. Did you know they all use the same key on the storage areas. REPLACE all storage area locks with After Market locks ASAP. Make a ton of extra keys if you are forgetful, but do replace those locks. I don't want anyone in my storage, period. Even if there is no inside access.
As for anything with inside access, a simple latch that you can only open from inside the unit should take care of that.
Reminder, many underbed and under dining seating storage areas have outside access doors. Replace those locks and put on inside latches wherever you see them.
And those new electronic locks for the main door look like a great idea too. You can give temporary codes to mechanics and guests and don't need to worry as much about the keys.

I used to drive the Kei car, compact and energy-efficient car, in Japan. This Class C would be an 18-wheeler for me, and I'm scared of driving it. However, I enjoyed watching your video.

    • @lass-inangeles7564
      @lass-inangeles7564 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You are wrong about the driving. This is an easy rig to drive. Size does not matter. Get behind the wheel. I bought a 22 ft Class C and was terrified driving it home. Partly because:
Had to rely on back up camera instead of rear view, mirrors were shoddy, and the camera had not been installed yet.
Height worried me under bridges and trees.
Did not know how to space myself widthwise on the road.
      Backing up was nerve wracking.
      However:
      Backup camera worked great.
Taking this out every day to run errands gave me confidence and savvy within a month.
Became intuitive to check tree height.
Width is not an issue if you keep the left road line at a certain point in your windshield to give optimal center spacing on lane.
      Backing up is a breeze!
On my maiden long distance voyage I even towed a car for the first time behind me. No issue at all over 600 miles. You have fears that are not justified. Just get what you want and drive it. Ordinary people drive semi's and 40 ft RVs, so why can't you?

The shower looks VERY cheap ! I too, like the floor plan except for the small kitchen. And, yes, with roof top area WHY limit availability of solar to such a small amount ?

@@Ultramobility We purchased the Wayfarer TW 2019 and it is just about a year old. Really no complaints but we did have two items replaced under warranty. The Jensen stereo DVD player everything worked fine but it would not connect to my cell phone so they replaced it. Also the spider control was a little glitchy and it was replaced. We paid to change out the love seat sofa for the reclining theater style seats and they are a huge improvement. You do loose sleeping capacity however that sofa bed was not very good for sleeping.
We looked at a lot of B class RV's but decided that if you are doing more than a long weekend camping there is just not enough room or storage space. The B+ makes longer trips possible and comfortable! There is a lot of storage in the TW and you could overload it I suppose. We put in all the standard gear, kitchen items, grill, etc and went to the scales with a full fuel tank and 1/3 full water tank (which is what I carry when traveling. Here are my weights
      Front Axle . 3820
      Rear Axle 6920
      Total . 10740
After adding food and personal items I do not think we were overweight. Granted the combined weight of myself and my wife is only about 270-280 so heavy people might need to re-examine what gear they take. Most people carry too much stuff (including me but I have paired back some). If you are not using the over cab bunk for sleeping remove the mattress to reduce weight and it makes it easy to put storage bins up there.
Class B vans actually cost more than the B+ versions. I was told it is more costly to convert a van than to add a box to a cut-a-way Sprinter.
The B+ is very easy to drive and maneuver but you have to keep in mind the height of 11'6". So far we have been getting 15.5 to 16 mpg When on the highway we travel at about 65 mph most of the time. Awesome power in hilly country.
Cost was around $114k and we added solar panel and wi-fi booster and Dish satellite. All in for about $118. You could not come close to that with a Class B form any of the major manufacturers .
Lastly Tiffin customer service is awesome. They go out of their way to please their loyal customers.

    • @Ultramobility
      @Ultramobility  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

well the promaster at 20'10" is about the longest that you could get away with. it would spill over by an inch or two into a second parking spot. if you don't want to spill over then you need a coach that's under 19' in length which means it would be built on the shorter sprinter chassis or the shorter promaster 1500 or 2500 chassis. anything longer and you have to be comfortable taking up two spots.

Regarding your comment on the solar and battery tech. The reason they don't upgrade that system is that the math works out to $20,000 to $30,000 to upgrade the system to run the air conditioning system and power the coach without the generator.

Excellent and comprehensive review. Thanks for publishing the OCC which should be a mandatory component of every review but few do. Unfortunately Tiffen didn't learn from 2019 which was equally challenged on capacity. On your graphic, if not listed, should also note that a dingy toad is virtually eliminated as despite the advertised 5000 lb advertised towing capacity, the hitch weight is further subtracted from the OCC and further wipe out the 256 lb calculated carrying capacity.

The average American woman is 5' 4" and weighs 166 lbs per online search.
The average American man is 5' 9" and weighs 200 lbs per online search.
If this coach carries 6 people, you are looking at:
    200 + 200 + 166 + 166 + 125 + 125 = 982 lbs if two of them are kids. Possibly 1000 lbs.
Already way over load limits with zero room for cargo.
Other issues: Only 2 proper seat belts, the rest are not 3-point.
    Cheap fittings throughout.
Slides are a danger to occupants during a crash. Goodbye kids!
No fan or vent in shower - mold issue!!!
    Galley size is ridiculous
No inverter, no solar, propane fridge, cheap cheap cheap.
Highest price for any Class C at $152,000!
Are you kidding? This RV is unsafe just on weight alone. Should be pulled from market immediately. Carrying 6 passengers on this is a deathtrap.

They need to think about dropping the bunk above the cab and putting in a large sunlight. As you said, there is not a lot of cargo capacity, make it more a two person, with option of sleeping a couple of guests, on the converting seating area. Many people seem to like the Mercedes chassis. I have read horror stories from fleet owners on repair cost and they say all the units experience the same hugely expensive repairs at predictable mileages. The fact that RV'rs tend to travel into sparsely populated places with no dealers for these chassis might give some a pause with this choice.

    Appreciate your reviews, however.
Incorrect information on many areas is disappointing.
Tiffen does offer Lithium batteries as an unpublished option, the consumer just needs to ask.
Tiffen provides one go power 190 watt solar panel and has an option for 2 panels. Again, just ask the dealer to order it. It used to be 170 watt.
Robin from Creativity was mentioned as owning this model, that’s correct, but you failed to mention why and the numerous problems she had with her Leisure Travel Van that forced her upgrade to Tiffen.
The overhead bunk comes standard with a large front window and electric privacy shade, obviously the unit you viewed was ordered without this.
The unit you reviewed comes standard with a compressor frig., the other models of Wayfarer use absorption refers.
The fantastic fan in the bathroom does vent for the shower also because if you would have shown how the two doors swing into the hallway to create one large bathroom with shower it would have been obvious.
The TV in the living area in this model is standard, not optional as you state. The exterior and bedroom TV are optional.
I don’t own a Tiffen but was disappointed in what appeared to be a slanted and biased review.
Your carrying capacity and security concerns were valid.
Finally, regarding Robins solar issue. In her video this week she stated that LaMesa RV installed her solar system, not Tiffen, for the lady that remarked about her potential fire issue.
It comes with a 2000 watt inverter, forced option, if you opt for the electric theater seating.
Please do more research before you condemn a manufacturer.
Lastly, I do not and have never worked for or with Tiffen but being recently retired and very aware of the RV industry for the past 35 years I have researched all Mercedes chassis class c brands and though the carrying capacity is low, it is the brand I will be buying. a factory ordered 25RW. The standard features, tangible construction upgrades from any competitor makes it the Only viable option.
This is the first comment I have ever felt the need to post because your Leisure Travel and Pleasure Way bias is getting difficult to overlook.

Agree with your review. Some very attractive features, but all are off-set by the anemic electrical system and puny storage weight capacity. Both of which are easily fixed in this price range.
I like my Leisure Travel Van Wonder RTB on the Ford Transit chassis with Ford diesel engine. This Tiffin has some desirable features, but I would not consider it an upgrade over my Leisure. I’ve had my coach for 7 months, I have put 17,000 miles on it. I have found both Leisure and my dealer, La Mesa RV in Phoenix, to very supportive.
I like driving my car, not a fan of the car driving itself. If those “safety” features are really truly needed perhaps the operator needs to be changed.

Ultramobility No worries, I understood that you were referring to Robin’s belief that she upgraded. After watching her video, your video, and doing some self study I do not agree this unit is an upgrade from a LTV.
My little Wonder has 400 watts of solar. Admittedly the 1,000 watt converter is anemic and I detest lead acid batteries - didn’t like them growing up in the 1950s and 1960s and especially don’t like them that alternatives are readily available. I switched my two 6-volt (in series) lead acids to two 12-volt AGMs (in parallel). Upgrading the inverter to 2,000 watt is my next project.
Plus, my weight carrying capacity more closely aligns with my storage space.
Again, I liked you review. As usual it was fair and objective. I agree with your conclusions.
It is a pity two quality manufacturers each have fallen a little short of the perfect Class B+/C coach. In my view LTV came closer than Tiffin.

Cargo capacity would be a concern - I mean, I cook in cast iron pans! I was not impressed with the bathroom and shower layout. The doors could open out together and form a dressing area or just be in the same room. I would like to be able to vent my shower! I believe you showed that there were no upper bunk windows? If a person is sleeping in an over-cab bunk there just needs to be some view and ventilation, period! I hope that helps.

It's good, it's big,has everything, but very outdated, ugly cabinet s,ugly furniture, nothing changed since 60,s....but don't get me wrong , it's perfect those people who never seen European design, probably still Staples all over,no screws,no skilled works

yep need to verify the build quality by taking a factory tour. i would imagine it uses staples but am not sure. the laminate is paper and not wood so that low quality.
