    I do the same as Geof. Run air through every water outlet, RV antifreeze in P traps and some in black and gray tank so the dump valves do not freeze. Also pull the anode rod to drain hot water heater and inspect the rod. I have never felt comfortable putting anything in the water that we drink or cook with. I do my 40’ coach using less than a gallon. Next season fill with water and go have fun. Thanks for the tip on black tank enzyme.

    Good video. I do the same thing, blow out with air first and then put in the antifreeze. One thing you should mention, make sure your compressor is an oil-less compressor. You don't want to coat your lines with oil residue.

    Good video.
    I have to winterize without blowing out because if a unit has a Aquahot you can NOT blow out the lines. It will damage the Aquahot.
    Also, I use a 5 gallon portable water container and fill it with RV antifreeze so I can winterize without running out to replace the one gallon jugs.
    Also, if the fridge has a ice maker you need to drain it as the manual explains.

    Regarding the seal in the toilet. I’ve always used Vaseline on the end of my finger and lubricate that rubber seal and it seems to have worked very well for me and my Monaco. Then I always make sure that there is a water barrier floating above that seal during the time to coach is down for the winter. Thomyt

    I always blow out my drains also. Put an air nozzle in the drain and then seal it off with a bunched up rag. Do this before running antifreeze thru your system. When done add antifreeze to your drains. This will keep from diluting the antifreeze in your drains, same as the pipes.

    Good video. We had a fifth wheel and bought an all-electric motorhome so we just keep it plugged in and the heat on. It is a little expensive, but we camp in the wintertime and it is a lot of trouble to winterize and then wash it out, all to do it again in a month.

    For us we live in SE Michigan, it's gets really cold here, we know cold weather :). The only area I will use air on is the black tank flush, the rest of the system I will pump RV antifreeze throughout the system, excluding the water heater and freshwater tank of course. I will also us a container to catch as much freshwater from each faucet as possible from going down to the gray tank. We have 2 macerator toilets I will pore RV antifreeze into them then do 3 dry flushes, no need to have any liquid/antifreeze in the macerator toilets. Also I will put at least 1.5 gallons of RV antifreeze, into the black and gray holding tanks, just to make sure the long run to the dump valves are protected.

    I use air only. This year I’m going to the Lippert floe, I’ll have to test it before I can see how it’s working though. The main plus is that you are putting air in before the pump, because that’s the weak point and I did have some micro cracks in my pre filter after 2 years. I also un-winterize every other weekend though.

    Hi Izzy and MJ. Great video. I know that the Max water pressure is 60 PSI. And you set your compressor to 48PSI. My owners manual stated not to use more than 30 PSI. I am now wondering why the difference.
    The only thing if I may suggest is when you winterize the outside shower and low point drains, is to capture it in a bucket and dump it in the toilet. Just a thought.

    Typical common mistake is not pressing the foot pedal on the toilet till it runs pink. Small diameter hose freezes quick, and the valve needs replacing. We winterize ourselves, and were provided a cost breakdown of the most common items that freeze and are replaced often by our dealer.

    I run a little heat in the cabin and in the wet bay. I like to be ready to go. We always have some nice days in Virginia during winter. Costs a little bit for the electricity but it works. You don't have to keep it at 65 degrees. 45 is good. I've done this since we bought this "coach" and it has worked well. I do shut off the feed to the water heater and drain it. Wow, you do realize that by connecting your air line to your black water tank and then moving to fresh water, you have crossed contaminated your fresh water. Something you never want to do. If you want to put air pressure into the black tank, you should have a separate adapter and hose for the freshwater system (just like you hopefully do with the water hoses). Personally, I wouldn’t pressurize the black water tank, just not that much benefit (if any benefit).

    • @EndlessRVing
      @EndlessRVing  ปีที่แล้ว

      You do realize the connection for the black tank flush is not in the black tank. There is plumbing that goes to the black tank with one way check valve. Using your assessment there would be black tank contents poring out of the black tank flush. The reason for running air through the black tank flush is to clear out any fresh water that may be in the lines and push it into the black tank.
      Please do some research before leaving these comments and safe travels

  • @danieltaylor3396
    @danieltaylor3396 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Using air pressure and anti-freeze is redundant, so too bad they didn't give an explanation as to why they use both methods when either method will do the job.

    • @EndlessRVing

      We run the air to get to places the antifreeze cannot (black tank flush) The antifreeze gives us visual confirmation the lines are protected. $35 in antifreeze is not worth risking thousands in potential damage.
