This is in my top 3 favorite tobaccos. Its got such a dark and mature taste. I find that it really sings in smaller pipes. Also! It taste best when smoked wet. I cut this stuff and immediately rub it out and pack it. I cut it into really thin flakes too, so i almost end up with a shag. This is one of the only blends i find i can smoke dripping wet and not really run into any severe mechanical issues. Also the rum casing comes through when smoked wet. NOTE TO OTHER MANUFACTURERS! THIS AND 3Ps ARE HOW PLUGS SHOULD BE MADE. No more of this crumble cake bullshit being labeled plug....

I agree with this comment completely. It's also in my top 3, smaller bowls is best and i pack it fresh! I'm curious, what is your other two favorites?

Its an outstanding plug. My other two would be Escudo and a tie between Peterson/Dunhill flake and Watch City Cigar 558. I cant decide at the moment. LOL@@RidingWithDave

Thanks for another thorough review. I love VaPer’s but I haven’t tried this one yet due to the price. Thanks again, looking forward to future videos.

Just tried this for the first time last night. An absolute gem. I put it right up there with plum pudding and my mixture 965. Its smooth and extremely enjoyable.

Absolutely on point about it being different smoke in different pipes this one is vastly different depending on your choice in pipe

I would have liked to get a look at this plug. When I was young there was a plug that was so hard I had to cut off with my Barlow knife. It had a licorice taste to it. I guess nobody else liked it because they stopped selling it years ago. I don't know if you could smoke it, but I chewed it. I don't remember the name. Thanks, great review as always.

Very dark and super compressed. Thanks for watching

I wonder if this stuff is just the plug form of Stokkeby’s Navy Flake. It has some of that salty touch too. They might use a touch of the Danish style Cavendish which uses dark fired Kentucky tobaccos. You can pick that up in a lot of Mac Baren’s blends too

I get what you are saying. STG is a different manufacturer than Dan, so I think they are similar but definitely not the same. Thanks for watching. 👍

Thanks for your reviews, as a new pipe smoker I appreciate your kind of expertise and advise on quitting cigarettes (inhaling)

    • @PipesTobaccoWhiskey
      @PipesTobaccoWhiskey  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’m not sure about the “expertise” part, but thank you. I’ve never smoked cigarettes, so my help on that is slim....have you tried retrohaling with the pipe? Best video I know on that is Muttonchop...might help with the desire to inhale smoke.

A smaller and wide at the top and narrower at the bottom is the way to go. Also I prefer a short straight pipe. I have 2 plugs from nov18 and 2 from nov 19. It ages really well, but looses its spice a bit. I don’t smoke it daily, but I wouldn’t want to go without EVER! The medium+ nic hit is awesome on a hot sunny day!

Great review. I scored a six year old pouch from a friend that did what you said. He got a bunch shipped over from Germany. I've had the same experience as you and every bowl has been different, but I haven't had the same difficulty with all the re-lights. And yes, it is a real bear to cut. I use my heaviest meat clever with a fresh sharpening. Maybe it's the six plus years of age, or my two decades of Naval service, but I give it a full five shots. I loooove it.

@@PipesTobaccoWhiskey Thanks. My family has a lot of Army service, too. SP recently had Salty Dogs back in stock and I spent way more than I'd care to admit. Maaaaannnnnn, it is good! I really like your reviews! Please keep keep 'em coming!

I use a Spyderco PM3 with a very sharp, thin blade to cut it... quick and clean.

You guys have very good community interaction. I am a bit to lazy for something with this much maintenance and cost, appreciate the conversation though

@@PipesTobaccoWhiskey yeah GL Pease. My bad. The packaging is the same. I mix them up from time to time.

Easy to do...C & D blends all of the Pease products. That’s why the tins are the same shape... Cheers!

You guys give really great reviews! Becoming one of my favorite pipe channels. If yalll are looking for something interesting to try give C&D's Kajun Kake a shot. It's a very surprising tobbaco, I y'all might enjoy it! Thanks! Keep up the great work!

You're review reminded me that I've got a pouch of Salty Dog that i need to try! It sounds more interesting than a typical Navy flake. Are you planning an episode form the deer lease this year?
