    I couldn't find 3D helicoils for my threads so I ended up buying 3x 1D helicoils and put 3 of them in a single hole. Worked out great. But only time will tell if they hold.

    Hi there. My crossmember frame hole is strips out the bolt is m12/1.25 I couldn’t tighten it up it keeps spinning so what size of the heicoil repair kit do I need to? Thanks

    You should have put high temp lock tight on the outside of heli coil, and you need to break tang off, and remove from hole

    How do you distinguish if your all the way down or the threads just aren’t cutting smooth? I guess you can always put a piece of tape on the tap but is it easily to tell the difference?

    How do you make sure you're drilling 90° to the deck surface? Having to do this for a strocked 421 sbc and worried about not being straight and damaging a sleeve

      You can take a tube the the bit fits into nicely and use it as a guide. Welding some kinda plate to it helps too incase your really new to cordless drills. If at all possible use bronze and oil but normally oil does it fine even if it's in steel.

      The hole is already there so you just let the bit follow the hole. The hole is almost the size of the bit when the threads are gone. Don't use a helicoil for a head bolt though.

      I had to drill some holes for my main bolts. I even had the main caps on to use them as guides so I drill nice and perpendicular. What I found out was that if you have even a fairly small amount of wiggle room, you can very easily end up drilling holes slight off to one side. And with a nice sharp drill bit you can drill way off to one side without noticing it untill it is too late. So having some sort of solid rig to keep your drill bit nice and perpendicular is a must. Don't go do this stuff hastily. You will curse and regret.

      Once it's broken the tension should be off it so wont need much force to undo. An easy out should get it

    Threaded inserts for head bolts? They aren't even solid inserts. Wild stuff.

    • @danielpelaez9978

      What should u use then ?

    • @CoreMaster111
      @CoreMaster111 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@danielpelaez9978 I used helicoils on my engines main bolt threads and they work great. Finding solid inserts that are right size is almost impossible and when they are available, they are quite expensive. Not to mention that solid inserts need way more material to be drilled out and not all engine blocks have enough material.

    Be sure to be SQUARE!!!! I goofed & got a degree or two off & now I need to get a welder to fill the holes & then I got a drill press that has a foot to bolt to the deck to keep my drill bit square this time!!!!!!!! BE CAREFUL!!!!

    • @CoreMaster111
      @CoreMaster111 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, don't go fucking around. Even if you think the drill bit is going to follow existing hole, usually it's not going to and you end up easily couple of degrees off. You either need some good solid rig for hand drill or a good drill press. Cheap chinese drill presses can easily have enough play in them to end up with holes that are few degrees off even when you start straight in the middle of the existing hole and everything looks perpendicular.
      Not as easy as it looks.
