    A survey indicated that people who like surveys are more likely to complete them.
    I worked for a company that paid $$ to customers who bought a car to complete a survey about their satisfaction with the process. They used this survey to determine the conversion rate for their memberships (ie, how many members using their service wound up buying a car), and used that to extrapolate for cases where customers bought a car but didn't complete the survey.
    They couldn't comprehend that there was an inherent bias towards customers who had purchased vehicles, thus skewing their results in their favor.
    Surveys are garbage.
    Because EV sales are increasing annually, there are more New drivers of BEVs than there are experienced EV drivers. Meanwhile, Hybrids have been out for years, so there are more experienced hybrid drivers than new.
    My take away is that the survey shows that BEV sales are increasing despite new BEV drivers being dissatisfied with public CHARGING options.

      @@RespectfullyHumble yeah, but VW and Ford cannot magically shape off 10k. it needs hard work and years of development to get the price down. rich people are paying for that development now.
      and we already came a long way.
      10 years from the first Tesla Model S to the VW ID.7 brought this:
      * half the price after adjustment for inflation
      * double the range

      in a few years we will reach price parity and we can thank the rich forward thinking people for funding that development.

    After 50 years of buying ICE vehicles for our business and personal use we bought a Tesla model Y. If you have a parking spot to charge over night they are fantastic. A much much better car than the previous Mazda CX5, Honda CRV and Subaru Foresters we owned and much much cheaper. We save $65 (Australian) per week in fuel costs and the car costs $60,800 (Aust). That is a saving of more than $30,000 over 10 years. A top of the range Mazda CX5 which is a nice car but still not as good as the Model Y is the same upfront cost. Why are people buying hybrids there is absolutely no way I would consider a mechanically complicated hybrid. They are only designed to keep service dependant dealers in business and your wallet empty.

    "slowdown in EV demand" "EVs highest growing segment" news bi-polarity is amusing.

    Yeah why own one drivetrain when you can own two? The legacy auto makers must think we were born yesterday. In some ways hybrids are a "worst of both worlds solution". All the complexity (and more) of an ICE and most of the weight of an EV. Plus all those sweet, sweet servicing bills to look forward to.

    • @buddy1155
      @buddy1155 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    • @conchobar

      Hybrids require all the costly maintenance of an ICE vehicle, doesn't gain the higher performance of an EV. Hybrids cost more to purchase than their ICE counterparts, cost more to repair, and if you get that hybrid to last as long as an ICE car, you'll end up paying for a costly battery replacement. Yep, its the worst of both, not the best of either.

    • @AllanSustainabilityFan
      @AllanSustainabilityFan 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@buddy1155 Worst of both worlds actually: Less efficiency and performance than pure EV, more complexity/manufacturing costs/reliability issues than ICE.
      For example while EVs are 60 times less likely to have fires than ICE, Hybrids are twice as likely as ICE to cause fires, based on gov data.
      Hybrids are a bridge solution that trade cost/complexity/performance for flexibility - ala smartphones with tactile keyboards, which eventually died out when the iPhone came out.

    • @buddy1155
      @buddy1155 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@conchobar An internal combustion engine is great at continuous speed at extended periods of time, does not stress clutch and gearbox.
      Electric motor is great at variable speeds, it can regenerate, no gearbox, no clutch.
      The replacement of a HV battery in a few year old EV will make the car a write off.
      The replacement of a HV battery in a hybrid is a lot cheaper (€1200 for a BMW 330e) and there is always the option to drive it like a regular ICE.
      It really is the best of both worlds.

    • @buddy1155
      @buddy1155 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@AllanSustainabilityFan Tactile keyboards are still better than touch screens for typing, just like tactile buttons are better in a car as well. Screens are just cheaper, nothing better about them.
      Beside, I have never seen a burning car in my life, ICE or EV, sure it does happen but it is very rare. Even at a scrap yards you very rarely see a burned out car. 99.999% just get old or wrecked in accident.
      Compared to an ICE vehicle the efficiency of an hybrid is significant better. Compared to an EV the price, range and refuel/recharge is better. So like I said: best of both worlds.
