  • FOX Sports NFL analyst Eric Mangini joins Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes on First Things First to discuss Week 16’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. Broussard believes it would be a bad idea for the Eagles to start injured Jalen Hurts in Week 16 vs. the Cowboys and explains he thinks Nick Sirianni is playing mind games with the Cowboys. The group then discuss Patrick Mahomes and his chances at running away with the NFL MVP.

Allen and Burrow both have a path to winning MVP. Whoever wins that head-to-head matchup has to win out and play perfectly to end the season. They also need Mahomes to finally have a bad game. Mahomes lowest QBR game this year is 57.2 against Buffalo. Allen has 3 games with a lower QBR, Hurts has 4 games with a lower QBR, and Burrow has 7 games with a lower QBR. Mahomes has 6 of the top-20 QBR in a game this season. Tua, Dak, and Fields are the only other QBs with more than one game in the top-20.

If you look at Josh Allen's stats, they are right there with Joe Burrow's and actually better if you count his rushing. He has a better team record and has a chance to beat him head to head which would give him road victories over both Mahomes and Burrow. If Patrick is mediocre the rest of the season, Josh Allen can definitely sneak in there and win MVP.

If I remember correctly a guy who wears #15 that plays for the Kansas City Chiefs got hurt toward the end of the season 2 years ago and was hampered by throughout the playoffs and lost to Tampa Bay in the Superbowl and he was in the pocket. Pocket quarterbacks get hurt every week. Ask Jimmy Garopolo, Aaron Rodgers, Dak Prescott and Tua got hurt twice this season in the pocket. Football is a contact sport. Both Manning and Brady have missed seasons. That's life. Them other dudes on defense get paid too.

He was 10 touchdowns clear of Mahomes (even if mahomes had played the final regular season game, he would have still been probably 7 or 8 touchdowns clear). Plus, Rodgers had the 2nd highest passer rating of all time (only behind is own record passer rating in 2011).
