Eager young men: sign me up!
The United States does have a well-documented history of interfering and sometimes interrupting the workings of democracies elsewhere. It has occupied and intervened militarily in a whole swath of countries in the Caribbean and Latin America and fomented coups against democratically elected populists.
The most infamous episodes include the ousting of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh in 1953 - whose government was replaced by an authoritarian monarchy favorable to Washington - the removal and assassination of Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba in 1961, and the violent toppling of socialist Chilean President Salvador Allende, whose government was swept aside in 1973 by a military coup led by the ruthless Gen. Augusto Pinochet. (American dad made a episode on this one with the dancing dictator?)
A young Che Guevara, who happened to be traveling through Guatemala in 1954, was deeply affected by Arbenz's overthrow. He later wrote to his mother that the events prompted him to leave “the path of reason” and would ground his conviction in the need for radical revolution over gradual political reform.
Aside from its instigation of coups and alliances with right-wing juntas, Washington sought to more subtly influence elections in all corners of the world.
      www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2016/10/13/the-long-history-of-the-u-s-interfering-with-elections-elsewhere/
While researching 100 years of US meddling. I saw this in 2021.
CIA involvement in coup 1965 is one great example on how the west took sides by supplying weapons, made propaganda and indirectly killed more than 3 million innocent lives. Their strategy is based on "divide and conquer". This document was declassified by CIA because many activists around the globe condemn the war crimes of US and their allies. Not only that, CIA overthrew the legit president of indonesia and replaced it with a corrupt person who supported the US. That's how US mining company 'freeport' got hold of indonesian biggest gold mine.
      nsarchive.gwu.edu › filesPDF
Declassified files outline US support for 1965 indonesian massacre - National Security Archive.
      -Jeff Lith
CIA always worked with NED. (National Endowment for Democracy). They always try to destabilize any country with different ideology. All started way back after the end of world war 2, the cold war started. US sees other ideology as dangerous and feel the need to bring democracy to all countries, so in other words, every US presidents starting from harry s truman are all involved. Believing democracy as a perfect system that all countries MUST adopt. This made US act aggressively and invade nations with different ideology, creating wars and chaos around the globe.

I see some people from overseas stating that because of the silence of the Myanmar public on the Rohingya crisis, Myanmar deserves to be punished in this manner.
There is no point in denying the fact that Rohingya crisis happened and that many of the Myanmar people were supportive of ASSK's denial of the genocide. Hell, if you as much as opened your mouth to disparage ASSK about it, you get into an argument with people who do not believe that Rohingya deserves to be recognised.
However, I would like to point out that most people in Myanmar are struggling with day to day survival and it is easy to push aside atrocities happening somewhere out of sight, that your government is purposely hiding from you. Hero worship is problematic in nations like Myanmar where critical thinking is not a huge focus of our education system. The youths protesting today worship ASSK or at least worship the ideals of democracy that ASSK represents. This compounded with an idiot general who is treating this like a war is pushing more youths into the movement. More of these youths are also only now educating themselves about the ramifications of having a military that is more powerful than the civil authorities.
Let's face it, most of you looking at insta stories or at this right now, are probably not from Myanmar. A handful of you will worry about it in the context of what it means for your friends and relatives. Some of you will find it interesting, feel sympathy for the Myanmar people as a whole. Most of you will find it a somewhat interesting thing that you took moment to read, if that, and move on with your day. And I honestly don't mind that. A person can only care so much before going absolutely insane.
It is the same for most of Myanmar during the Rohingya crisis or the ethnic civil wars. The question is not really if the Myanmar people cared. It is really did these people really have the time and the education necessary to understand the nuances of the situation to care?
Obviously at this moment, if you challenge ASSK's supporter with the Rohingya matter, most will deflect and point to the military. Perhaps someone who understands the nuances might make a better defense of her very hard to defend actions. At any rate, this is a fact that cannot be disputed; if the military really win this one, it is going to be a total wipeout of however many Rohingya are left and whoever else the military might find objectionable in their minds unsullied with a single thought. Do you truly want to shout karma to people whose biggest sin is being too poor to get the education that you were able to get?

First of all, Rohingyas were persecuted by the same military that committed the coup now. Second the military was actually founded by General Aung San, who we consider our Independence Father. He didn't even see our independence as he was assassinated in 1947. As u can guess from the name he is the father of DASSK.
DASSK is not a god. She is just a human being. She hesitates to abolish the military founded by her father despite the corruption. She was house arrested by the same military for 15 years and yet she tried to give them a second chance.
Obviously, military doesn't deserve a second chance. Also, for Myanmar citizens, they are like Eldians. We are brainwashed by our history textbooks in school. Think about it, being brainwashed from the age of 3-5. Right now, Rohingyas are also banging pots from their refugee camps. If they think we deserve that and they don't need to concern, do you think they will also fight??
Lastly, if you think we will discriminate against Muslims cuz of their religion, u r so wrong. Sule Pagoda, one of the most famous pagoda in the heart of Yangon, is literally next to a mosque.
The real problem is the media who spoonfed us with false info. But ofc, it's our own fault that we were born in a third world country with brainwashing system.

Indeed. The problem of the military is their paranoia about how good they're. They don't see other people with similar respect, they demand people to be under their surveillance.
Though I'm sympathetic to Rohingyas, my mother is a Bengali woman myself, I have to blame the Rohingyas too. They have received supplies from Pakistan and China to threaten and destabilise our country, forcing us to believe their intention is to bring more Bengali immigrants to Myanmar changing the demographic. If Myanmar manages to be free from military rule, then we are likely to face the fact China is also arming many ethnic separatists to destabilise Myanmar. China has played both sides so that to cripple Myanmar.
Please, we call for peace. Myanmar people are not warmongering people. Even with the Rohingyas, too.

Myanmar was where the flying tigers of ww2 were based, where the green berets got their start in special ops. We should as a country start commanding some respect again and work with our hearts and minds filled with compassion. Nowadays I mostly see us being shown as greedy and vain. Ok, so the only people who are saying that are mostly from the military. In 2015, Myanmar people only know how to use Facebook and we are just starting to know how to use the internet for us Facebook is the internet we don't know anything else. Lots of people who know how to use the internet are kids and I was only 14 at that time so we are still learning. local news media are blocked from getting information saying that it was a warzone and we are still using newspapers to get information. The only thing that we knew at that time was that they attacked the police station and the army was fighting them. Military spread lots of misinformation to the public from news and from people that they pay. And remember the monk that supports those kinds of acts we hated him even before we know what is really happening. We hate violence towards other religions. And do not forget we stay under the military rules for over 50 years. So, of course, it is easy to spread misinformation with the limited information that we are getting and Facebook did not stop the spread of misinformation not like today. I am jealous of you guys who are getting up-to-date real information which we did not get during that time. Why Aung San Suu Kyi did not stop? Because she cannot. She have no control over the military. And if she did that the coup will happen too soon before people taste of what little freedom we got. And there will be more blood from both side.

The military is to blame. Myanmar has over 100 ethnic groups, and 90% are Buddhist. There has been a long stand of military treatment against every ethnic group. If she has the power, the whole people of Burma would not be protesting the military coup. Every ethnic group are united in this 2021 protest against the military. Rohingya case is not black and white; it has a complex history compared to other ethnic groups. Rohingyas are not Myanmar citizens; they migrated when India and Burma were under the British colony as one country. They are stateless citizens living in the Rakhine state, and there are conflicts between Rakhine ethnic locals who originated in Rakhine state. Do your research, not just what you hear in the media. The media has only seen a one-sided military against the Rohingya. But they are not seeing the Rakhine ethnics suffering both from Rohingyas Muslim extremist and the military. She was not supporting the genocide but standing from another perspective of the Rakhine ethnic groups. She walks the razor's edge of a difficult and hostile environment. China is an ally to the junta. When we are isolated, China sent aids and weapons to junta to oppress our people. Because of Suu Kyi, many Chinese projects in Myanmar were stalled, so now they secretly embrace the coup. They are also supplying ethnic separatists, going as far as the Rohingya and Arakan Army.
