  • In S197 upper control arm install,
we go through the process of replacing the upper control arm on the rear of the 05-10 mustang. This wasn't a horrible job, in fact, we were done in about 2 hours.
The addition of this bracket not only helps replace the worn bushing, but it will aid in gaining traction off the launch and under hard acceleration.
A must-have for anyone trying to make some power from their S197 mustang!!

I can't believe you had it that far apart and didn't replace the bushing on the rear axle housing

I cant get the mount out! directions are saying to lower the fuel tank a little by losening the strap which I did and the tank hasnt budged. So Im stuck and i reallyy dont want the fuel tank falling out to make matters worse. How did you get your mount out without lowering the fuel tank?

jiggle and wiggle ALOT...... if you have loosened the tank straps already, put a small pry bar up top and pull down the tank a little bit. im sure it will pop down.

So there’s only 1 upper control arm? You replaced the control arm and bracket as well correct?

Hi, sorry my school english is very rusty.
Which of these three positions in the mount is for a lowered car?

i used the top hole for my application. again you are hunting for pinion angle more than tthe exact hole it is in. a good place to start is -2 degrees when sitting on its weight.

You brought up a good point, the newer style of BMR mount has three holes vs the mount in the video with two. BMR recommends testing because things like lower control arm relocation brackets, adjustable vs non-adjustable upper control arms, and the car's ride height all play into effect. They recommend the upper hole for lowered cars but I quote "That is a rough suggestion, it is somewhat up to YOU to test and see what position works best. These suggestions are based on years of testing. There is no specific position requirement, and results may vary.
      "
I found this all on BMR's website under the UCA mount listing under "installation"

Correct. I like to set mine roughly -2 sitting at ride height.
      It's a good starting point.
so pinion pointing to the ground 2*

Going to do this job soon.
Two critiques: Too much excess mic noise, and the music... it has got to go!

appreciate the feedback. im trying to get better but have a long way to go.
check out Phase 2 Motortrend! i ended up replacing this part before i even drove the car with their stuff. and am amazed at the quality!

This video is the worst demonstration of what to do. The camera doesn't get thr views or the pinion angle is not fixed for anyone wondering or trying at home.
