Oh my, there are about 8 priceless tips in this video! My favorite is using the random orbit sander to vibrate the concrete. Keeping this video in my back pocket for further reference!

Another great project video. Wish I had the space to add an outdoor kitchen. I love how many projects you've been making on your deck. I think they're all very unique and have been a blast to watch.

It looks like you're on an upper level deck. Did you check for ample support to protect anyone below? This whole assembly likely weighs 500+lbs/227kg. Add a couple of adults and it could spell disaster in a short time. If you haven't checked - please do so immediately.
It looks beautiful ! ! Well done.

Hi Ben, great video. I really appreciate how simple and easy to follow your instructions are (I especially like how you noted to use fittings made for use with potable water). Thanks for putting these out in the world!

really upping your game with the concrete stuff. great video. I just did my countertops a week ago and we basically did the exact same thing. keep the quality content coming. you're killing it dude.

I like what you did with the orbital sander. glueing the pads to the melamine. I wonder how the ryobi buffing tool would work in the same situation.

I love each and every one of your projects. They are all well planned, used with "simple" tools and so beautiful. Plus they are "simple"." It takes a brilliant mind to come up with a simple project" - Me!
    Right?

That deck is shaping up to be a really cool space.
1 - Great trick to vibrate by gluing down the sanding pad first.
2 - I never thought to paint the knob on spigots. I have never liked the bright red ones around my house, time for some spray paint!

Neat, but you shouldn't have concrete directly on your wood deck (if it is wood). It holds moisture and will rot it out quickly.

I didn't know construction adhesive would bond the metal brackets to concrete well enough for a heavy shelf. Something new every day. thanks!

This was a great video/tutorial and very inspiring. I've been tossing a similar idea around in my head, wanting to try my hand at a concrete countertop with a store bought or scrounged sink but I really like your use of the concrete to mold a sink out of the concrete in one mold. I was thinking about using 4X4's for the base. I also really like your industrial looking faucet.

One Suggestion: Sand the columns to have a smoother base. It'd look better IMO

  • @ronsakamoto9106

Great job... I can see what you made this for. More as a potting station then an outdoor kitchen sink. So it really doesn't matter about the depth of the sink... it's a great project regardless.

I think your videos and concepts are great and easily accessible. But I have a problem with the weights and this latest concrete project seems to be possibly the heaviest of all? You do indeed address the issue of weight in all your videos. You state the bench top alone is 320 pounds? I estimate that with the footings & fittings etc you would easily be over 1000 pounds?
I would love to see a similar project built without excessive use of concrete. There are ways to build essentially the same concrete top with possibly half the weight.
    Keep the videos coming!

  • @DhruvlukeMusic
    @DhruvlukeMusic 8 ปีที่แล้ว

I had it in my mind that concrete would be too difficult to work with as someone inexperienced with constructing things in general, but after seeing many of your videos it definitely isn't nearly as bad as I would have expected. Great content, keep it up!

I hope you're not too bummed out when this has to be removed because your deck needs refinishing or replacement, especially since trapping water against the boards and adding a significant static load is going to accelerate that process. :/

Is there any special reason why nobody on TH-cam actually specifies the amount of water they add to the mixes? Water to cementitious materials ratio is by far the most important parameter, when it comes to strength and durability. You guys need to do a little bit of research on that. Also try adding small amounts of plasticizers into your mixes. You will get much better surfaces and much fewer bug holes (entrapped air) in your concrete body.

    • @reportingsjr

Pipe dope is significantly better at sealing. Teflon tape isn't really meant to seal. It is primarily to make it easier to thread parts together.
